    Senior Specialist - Commercial Manager

    Role Purpose

    The Senior Specialist: Commercial Management role based within Vodacom Financial Services.

    • Role purpose: This role will focus on developing, driving and closing new B2B external partnership deals over a broad cross-section of sectors. The role reports to the Executive Head of VodaPay. This is a unique opportunity where you will execute on the strategy for the VodaPay initiative and have a significant impact on customer acquisition, retention and lifecycle in general .  The right candidate will have key strengths and experience in prospecting, developing and managing business relationships with clients to grow our partnerships, across business verticals.
    • She/he will have a strategic & business background that enables them to engage at the CxO level to negotiate complex offers, crafting impactful campaign structures that enables them to identify high yielding partnerships and propositions that users of the app will delight in. The candidate will have the flexibility to negotiate such deals with large brands and corporates as well as small and medium enterprises.
    • She/he will also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically to resolve business, product, and technical challenges, with the additional ability to ideate and convey compelling value propositions and roadmap development.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Mapping and prospecting new business opportunities within broad industry verticals through multiple approaches
    • Support establishment of business and technical relationships with new partners
    • Establishing, owning and executing on the contract negotiation process resulting in effective deal closure
    • Use consultative selling to reach partner outcomes while maximising profit
    • Generation and execution of initiatives to drive top line GMV growth across partners and overall VodaPay adoption across all relevant market segments
    • Support delivery of technical, marketing and commercial roadmaps for deal partnerships
    • Identify and leverage synergies with business units and subsidiaries to maximise value from assets and partnerships
    • Use data and analytics driven approach to review, analyse and evaluate success of initiatives against key KPIs and define innovative ways to meet objectives
    • Preparation and delivery of executive committee presentations and management reports

    Support with partner negotiations

    The ideal candidate for this role will have:

    • 5+ years of experience in business development with track record of success
    • Digital product development experience
    • Strong commercial acumen across digital industries with the ability to provide input to legal, technical and commercial teams to develop and close high-profile partnerships
    • Highly resourceful and flexible fast learner who is able to successfully integrate consumer-centric proposition with enterprise partner objectives
    • Experience with partner account management, relationship building and commercial management skills with eCommerce experience a plus
    • Comfortable with fast changing, complex and competitive environment and focused
    • Innate ability to inspire passion in both internal and external stakeholders

     

    Must have technical / professional qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s or honours degree in business, commerce, economics or similar
    • MBA preferable
