    SBS seeks an intelligent, proactive, experienced, and dedicated Stock and Assets Head of Department to operate in our SBS Corporate Services division in the Finance Team.
    The purpose of the Stock and Assets HOD is to provide materials, equipment, and supplies by directing receiving and warehousing to ensure a smooth operation including supervising staff.
    Stock & Assets HOD's role involves providing leadership in the management of stock and stores departments, as well as oversight of minor assets throughout the business.
    The Stock & Assets HOD's purpose involves tasks such as directing, coordinating, and planning work activities and obtaining necessary resources for accurate inventory control. The Stock & assets HOD should be able to ensure that their department functions efficiently to ensure stock accuracy and quality adherence to internal and external customers’ requirements. The Stock & assets HOD should ensure that it has a disciplined and motivated workforce that is trained to complete their tasks set aside efficiently and effectively within the required quality standards. Additionally, in relation to management of stock, the HOD is to oversee tools and other assets used throughout the business, ensuring functionality, coordination of assets and completeness of sets.

    The Stock and Assets HOD will operate out of Head Office based in Pinetown to develop and support the growth in the surrounding areas and nationally.

    Core Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
    Quality and safety:
    • To ensure a safe working environment for all employees by maintaining a 5S Housekeeping system
    • To manage and control inventory accurately.
    • To ensure that safety reps, fire fighters and first aiders are carrying out daily audits/inspections,
    • Reporting of potential process, material, machine/tool issues which may negatively impact on quality of product(s) and communication with the production HOD regarding such issues.
    • To ensure that stock received meets quality standards and items received are within tolerances
    • To ensure that are procedures are documented in the Quality Management System and that all procedures are followed.

    Product Delivery:
    • Plan and monitor your department’s delivering against Planned Production Schedule.
    • Allocate work to employees in accordance with the Planned Production Schedule & Job Cards.
    • All delivery commitments must be met as required and ensure production has the stock they need to manufacture.
    • Report status of stock holdings on a regular basis, immediately highlight issues to direct superior.
    • Communicate with other department heads to ensure any potential/actual problems are dealt with swiftly.
    • Manage all Syspro transactions and ensure they are concluded timeously.

    Cost Monitoring and Reduction:
    • Record, highlight and control scrap and rework in Red Tag Area.
    • Identify constraints / bottlenecks in processes and highlight to management.
    • Managing stock levels to ensure expenses are kept to a minimum and to minimize stock holdings.
    • Be active in identifying cost reduction opportunities and put forward suggestions to management.
    • Always maintain stock accuracy and resolve stock related queries swiftly and efficiently.
    • Provide insight to procurement department as to alternatives available, quality issues with suppliers and quantities needed.

    Team Management and Communication:
    • Monitor work performance of all employees that report to you and implement corrective measures where required.
    • Monitor the timekeeping, attendance, and absenteeism of all employees within own department.
    • Carry out counselling and disciplinary action(s) in upholding the company's code of conduct and disciplinary guide.
    • Mentor, train and encourage multi-skilling of all employees in own department.
    • Ensure correct staff are in correct positions to increase productivity

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience Required:
    • Matric certificate
    • Qualification in inventory control management
    • ERP System is a must – SYSPRO will be advantageous
    • Driver’s License
    • 10 Years of Stores and Inventory management experience
    • 5 Years of experience in a Manufacturing Industry
    • 5 Years of Supervising/ Managing a Stores Department/ Team

    Skills Required
    • Technical orientation (needs to understand inventory)
    • ERP System is a must – SYSPRO will be advantageous
    • Inventory Management (Manufacturing)
    • Have an aptitude to learn, develop and grow
    • Relationship Management
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (good verbal reasoning)
    • High level of computer literacy (sound knowledge of Microsoft Office)
