    Sales Support Consultant

    Job description

    JOB PURPOSE:

    This position represents Caterpillar relative to working with Global Mining Companies and directing Dealer efforts in pursuit of mining equipment sales and other mining-related business within a defined geographic territory. This position liaisons with Caterpillar business units and dealers to pursue special product development, coordinates technical/commercial proposals, and coordinates product scheduling, shipping and assembly activities.

    Job Duties

    This position is an Individual Contributor. Leads the development of mining equipment recommendations and commercial proposals. Participates on behalf of and commits Caterpillar in direct sales negotiations. Provides input to product business units concerning new product development, new product requirements, anticompetitive strategies, and pricing. Establishes pricing strategies and is partially accountable for profitability. Maintains coverage of key mining customers.

    Trains dealer mining sales forces. Evaluates product performance on customers' mine sites and recommends ways to improve customers' operations, efficiencies, and cost-per-ton. Spearheads the introduction of new mining products, services, and technologies. The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others. The position's primary customers are external. External customers include two to ten Dealers and their customers.

    The position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems, which may not be obvious. The incumbent solves problems by determining the best course of action, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results. Impacts key quality goals including Customer Satisfaction, Timeliness, Accuracy, Efficiency, etc. The position works to refine processes or procedures to ensure the best use of resources and technology in meeting the quality goals. The position travels extensively; at least one full week each month.

    Background/Experience

    The position requires thorough knowledge of company products and product applications, merchandising programs, and/or warranty practices and procedures. Broad company knowledge and strong understanding of dealer operations is also required. The position typically requires a college or university degree or equivalent experience. In addition, eight to ten years of progressively responsible job-related experience are typically required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop others, or persuade others inside and outside the department to take specific actions.

    Procurement Analyst

    Job description

    As a Procurement Analyst at Caterpillar, you will have the opportunity to establish quality sources at the lowest possible cost for the procurement of goods and services as assigned. You will work closely with internal Caterpillar departments and establish strong relationships with suppliers, identifying cost savings and applying global procurement strategy.

    Job Duties/Responsibilities May Include, But Are Not Limited To

    • Obtaining quotations for goods and services as detailed on approved order proposals.
    • Negotiating price and delivery to achieve best value.
    • Issuing purchase orders to approved suppliers.
    • Expediting deliveries of open purchase orders to ensure goods and services are received on time.
    • Maintaining accurate supplier price and lead time files.
    • Filing department purchase orders and paperwork.
    • Solving invoice discrepancies
    • Updating computer database.
    • Performing market tests and special projects as assigned to ensure best value and source selection.

    Required Qualifications

    • Independently manage tenders and RFQ’s.
    • Knowledge and experience of Indirect Purchasing and Category Buying.
    • Strong business acumen and the ability to challenge and influence key stakeholders and internal customers.
    • Ability to work autonomously and effectively manage global relationships (including direct reporting line).
    • Understand complex contracts and implement/ uphold clauses effectively.
    • Experience of purchasing a broad range of services and goods and understand how the effective purchasing of such goods/services affects the overall functionality and productivity of the wider organisation.

    Desired Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
    • Additional language skills such as Afrikaans and Zulu would be advantageous
