    Counsellor

    Job Description

    We are looking for a Counsellor – Facility and Community to be responsible for HTS services and ensure that proper linkage to care of all HIV infected patients is done according to Department of Health guidelines, and to perform HTS at community level during outreach campaigns when required. 

    Key Duties and Responsibilities  

    • Provide HIV testing services (HTS) to clients in line with DoH policies and guidelines and in line with District 909090 DIP and Sub-district IP 909090 plans 
    • Provide HTS at facility and community level and other out-of-facility sites whenever required.
    • Promote HTS through health talks and by participating in social mobilisation activities.
    • Provide post-test counselling and adherence support to clients.
    • Link HIV positive clients to facility for ARV initiation or mobile van
    • Trace all positive tested clients who were not initiated same day.
    • Be available to assist all HIV patients in the facility and community with relevant counselling needs.
    • Ensure that all clients tested HIV positive are linked into care and keep a record of how many are initiated on Antiretroviral treatment.
    • Report challenges related to the referral system and linkage to care to Community Coordinator.
    • Keep an updated record of number of clients who were offered HTS, tested, tested HIV positive, and linked into care, in line with tools used by DoH and Anova (should there be additional data capturing tools) and record it daily in the facility register.
    • Identify critical programme stakeholders and establish working relationships with them.
    • Provide feedback to the Community Coordinator on facility and community on social dynamics that impact on project activities.

    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required 

    • Matric qualification 
    • Training and certification in Basic HIV and Aids, STI and TB (HAST), HIV Counselling, Adherence counselling, and finger pricking.
    • ROTF support counselling
    • Adherence clubs
    • Certificate in Couple counselling, RTCQI, disclosure and paediatric consent is advantageous.
    • Minimum two years’ experience as a counsellor
    • Minimum two-year experience in HIV or public health environment
    • Knowledge of DoH HTS guidelines and protocols
    • General knowledge of health education
    • General knowledge of TB/HIV/PMTCT programme guidelines/counselling messages
    • Counselling skills
    • Good oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to manage relationships.
    • Strong organizational skills, including task and time management, ability to multi-task, establish priorities, and meet deadlines, and work without daily supervision

    Tracing Officer - Lepele-Nkumpi Rural

    Key duties and responsibilities:

    • Facilitate all tracing processes (telephonic and physical) of the priority facilities.
    • Liaise with facility staff and WBPHCOT team leaders for the tracing process and report for file and Tier.Net update.
    • Assist the PHC facility with telephonic tracing of missed appointments and defaulters.
    • Assist the WBPHCOT’s to trace defaulters within the communities.
    • Compilation of all clients that were not reached telephonically to the WBPHCOT register for physical tracing.
    • Completion of the WBPHCOT register at the facility when giving the tracing report and feedback to the facility staff for outcome on Tier.

    Qualifications, experience and skills required:

    • Grade 12 (Matric)
    • 3 years of experience working with PLWHA especially within the community.
    • Trained in basic HIV counselling and testing.
    • Trained in adherence counselling.
    • Shown affiliation and passion with community-based activities.
    • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required.
    • Ability to speak Northern Sotho (Sepedi).

    Clinical Nurse Practitioner

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • To champion all ANOVA 90-90-90 activities and oversee ANOVA staff at facilities (lead facility meetings and data review, monitor attendance and liaise between ANOVA and the facility)
    • Work with the outreach teams to get referrals and to initiate ART for eligible HIV infected clients including PrEP and attend MDT to support community recalls
    • Provide follow up care for patients on treatment in line with DoH HIV Management guidelines as well as Anova work plan and Facility 90-90-90 plans
    • Routinely monitor performance & registers of (TB/HIV/STI) programmes at facility level and provide mentorship & technical support where required
    • Identify poor performing indicators, put together quality improvement (QI) plans and implement as agreed upon with the facility and ANOVA team
    • Identify training needs at facility level and arrange in-service training where needed
    • Train clinic staff on MSM Diversity trainer and biomedical training and mentor staff at facilities
    • Use relevant M&E tools to report weekly to Anova sub-district team on number of clients initiated on ART and TPT
    • Support facilities with implementation of I-ACT support groups and Chronic treatment clubs in line with Anova’s work plan
    • Ensure holistic care is provided example acute and chronic condition of the PLHIV

    Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

    • A degree or diploma qualification as a Professional Nurse
    • Midwifery is a requirement
    • Clinical Assessment Treatment & Care (PHC Nurse Clinician)
    • Registration as a Professional Nurse with the South African Nursing Council
    • NIMART trained (western cape) and certified as competent to work independently
    • NIMART mentor certificate would be advantageous
    • At least 4 years’ experience in working at a clinic (PHC or CHC) facility
    • At least 2 years NIMART experience
    • Familiar with latest HIV Management, PrEP, STI and TB and guidelines
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Good report writing skills
    • Strong organizational skills, including time management and multi-tasking skills
    • Driver’s License is required and ability to drive

    HTS Coordinator

    Key Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversee implementation of Anova’s HTS support activities, in line with 90-90-90 strategy
    • Provide leadership and oversight to Anova counsellor/linkage officers allocated to work at Department of Health (DoH) primary healthcare facilities and hospitals
    • Oversee allocation of Anova counsellor/linkage officers to DoH facilities & ensure allocation is guided by data and facility HTS performance
    • Anticipate implementation challenges and take effective corrective measures as required
    • Support implementation of the Rapid Test Quality Improvement Initiative at sub-District & facility level
    • Support and oversee the implementation of index testing and other high yield strategies for improving testing uptake
    • Identify critical stakeholders and establish working relationships
    • Manage team of counselor linkage officers and ensure efficient project delivery
    • Submit monthly and quarterly reports to line manager, and other reports as required
    • Participate in management, sub-District and other meetings as required

    Essential Qualifications and Experience

    • A qualification in Social Science or health related qualification
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in HIV/TB/PMTCT programme
    • At least 2 years’ experience in successfully managing HTS/TB/PMTCT or related programmes
    • Previous work experience with the DoH
    • Ability to travel within Johannesburg Health District
    • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills
    • Leadership skills
    • Good report writing skills

We are looking for a Professional Nurse to support the initiation of HIV-infected clients on ART, PrEP, STI treatment and ensure full implementation of the 95 95 95 activities.
    This position is for the Southern Western Subdistrict.
