    Senior Officer: Physical Resources Services (post level 9) - (1045)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Maintenance & Housekeeping Management
    • Manage sub-division - Physical Residence Services & Housekeeping.
    • Manage the standards of maintenance work & Housekeeping standards.
    • Liaise with contractors.
    • Liaise with residence heads, RC and other UFS role players.
    • Manage the Mul-T-Lock Key-System.
    • Manage maintenance and improvements.
    • Conduct inspections.
    • Conduct quality control.
    • Compile specifications for upgrades and improvements.
    • Manage preventative maintenance schedule.
    • Regular recommendations on improving working procedures for Housekeeping & Operations.

    Administration 

    • Compile monthly store recon for Factotum Store. 
    • Compile monthly reports on quality standards. 
    • Coordinate insurance damage claims. 
    • Provide training to RC breakage portfolio. 
    • Keep record of renovations and/or upgrading. 
    • Coordinate residence breakage accounts. 
    • Compile policies and manage the execution and update thereof. 
    • Compile and manage the Risk Register in liaison with HRA.

    Planning 

    • Generate and manage a maintenance and housekeeping annual plan. 
    • Compile and manage asset registers and residence inventories. 
    • Assist in compiling and updating the upgrade schedule. 
    • Draw up the required scope of works for renovations and/or upgrading. 
    • Conduct planning for preventative maintenance. 

    Finances 

    • Compile and manage the approved budget for small projects and general maintenance. 
    • Assess and approve maintenance quotations. 

    Project Management 

    • Manage smaller projects. 
    • Manage and control the upgrading of residences. 
    • Liaise with different sections at Estates Division.
    • Liaise with residence heads, RC and other UFS role players. 
    • Monitor the emergence of latent defects for all projects and report to the Estates Division. 
    • Conduct quality control. 
    • Conduct needs analysis for upgrades. 
    • Compile renovation and/or upgrading specifications in conjunction with the contracted architect.

    Inherent Job requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree or an advanced diploma on NQF level 7 in building environment. 
    • A minimum of three (3) years' relevant experience related to the duties and responsibilities. 
    • Valid driver's license.

    Recommendation: 

    • Experience of building environment.
    • Experience in fault-finding and inspection of work. Supervision experience. 
    • Be willing to work after hours.

    Assistant Officer: Handyman (post level 13) - (1044)

    Duties and responsibilities:
    Maintenance

    • Undertake minor work and repairs in residences in the trade of carpentry, tiling, painting, electrical, plumbing, and general building works. 
    • Assist with the key-cutting section. 
    • Keep records of key system and key cutting. 
    • Keep records of all equipment and tools. 
    • Have knowledge of building environment. 
    • Be able to work under pressure. 
    • Assist the laundry equipment technician. 
    • Conduct general inspections in residences as instructed. 
    • Be available to be on standby after-hours for emergency maintenance callouts.  
    • Assist with General housekeeping of work areas. 
    • Clean the sub-division fleet on a regular basis
    • Assist with general tasks as and when required. 
    • Perform ad-hoc duties. 
    • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 85 of 1993. Technical development and implementation of databases.

    Administration 

    • Keep record of work schedule. 
    • Perform general administration. 
    • Fill in work orders after completion of work. 
    • Communicate with staff and service providers. 
    • Generate written reports. 

    Inspection 

    • Conduct general inspections in residences as instructed.

    Inherent requirements:

    • Grade 12 on NQF level 4, Electrical, Plumbing and Carpentry Trade Certificates. 
    • Valid driver's license.

    • A minimum of two (2) years’ relevant working experience relating to the duties and responsibilities.
    • Experience in building environment 
    • Experience in fault-finding and inspection of work. Supervision experience.

    Chief Officer: Counselling Psychologist (Post level 8) - (1041)

    Duties and responsibilities:

    • Provide Psychotherapy and counselling with regard to personal, social, emotional and career development.
    • Identify, diagnose, and treat serious psychological problems and refer to other professionals when the need arises.
    • Liaise with Student Counselling and Development, management, student affairs, faculties, academic departments, support services and student representatives.
    • Conduct Psychometric assessments & provide Career Counselling.
    • Perform psychological screening and first-level interventions aimed at enhancing student functioning.
    • Design and present developmental workshops for students.
    • Responsible for marketing the service.
    • Responsible for Office management and administration.
    • Supervise and Train Intern psychologists and/or counsellors.
    • Responsible for Research.
    • Participate in the Division of Student Affairs’ goals and objectives.

    Inherent requirements:

    • A master’s degree in Counselling Psychology on NQF level 9.
    • Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) in the category Counselling Psychology.
    • A minimum of Three (3) years’ experience in Higher Education or in working with young adults and an involvement in student / young adults’ life activities or initiatives.

    Recommendations:

    • Sesotho and/or Zulu speaking.
