    Diesel Mechanic 5

    Main Purpose: 

    • To ensure that all vehicles, cranes, construction plant and lifting equipment are maintained and in a safe working condition with valid certification where applicable as per Occupational Health and Safety Act.

    Key Performance Areas:

    Planned maintenance

    • Assist in developing a maintenance plan including checklists for each vehicle/crane type in the fleet including other construction plant and equipment.
    • Assist in developing preventative maintenance schedule for all fleet vehicles, cranes and construction plant and equipment.
    • Prioritise maintenance activities.
    • Ensure that vehicles and cranes are serviced and maintained according to the schedule and inspection check lists.

    Emergency repairs on vehicles/equipment

    • Assess and prioritise emergency breakdowns.
    • Consult with management, site managers and external clients regarding availability and replacement of vehicles/equipment.

    Compliance and control

    • Controls the quality of repair and maintenance activities to ensure that client expectations are met.
    • Conduct regular checks on vehicles/cranes to improve reliability of fleet.
    • Conduct inspections on completion of repair work.
    • Ensure compliance with the Company QMS.

    Administration and cost control

    • Assist Manager with technical assistance and advice.
    • Seek most cost effective maintenance strategy for all vehicle types in fleet.
    • Control maintenance cost, maintain service and repair records.
    • Do expediting on orders and spares required.

    Safety management

    • Weekly and monthly inspections as required.
    • Attend and contribute to daily toolbox talks.
    • Assist with compiling task risk assessments relevant to the tasks in progress.
    • Assist with written Safe Work Procedures relevant to the occupation and critical tasks under direct control.
    • Reporting and investigation of incidents, unsafe conditions and acts within area of responsibility.
    • Ensure all tasks are carried out according to the Safe Work Procedures and Risk assessments and that actions are compliant to the OHS Act, relevant Regulations and Company procedures.

    Preferred Requirements:

    • Qualified Artisan (Diesel Mechanic).
    • 7 Years’ working experience in vehicle maintenance, auto electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems for cranes and/or earthmoving machinery and trucks.
    • Knowledge of OHS Act, relevant Regulations and Safety Standards. (Risk assessments, Safe work Procedures, sound housekeeping practices, SANS standards and certification.
    • Computer literate (MS Office).
    • Valid driver’s licence C or EC.

    Senior Commissioning Engineer

    Main Purpose: 

    • To provide service on all boiler relate technical aspects.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Execute commissioning program as planned.
    • Compile plant method statements.
    • Develop complete maintenance plans.
    • Configuration management (plant codifications, P&ID compilation and plant labelling).
    • Develop, maintain and update maintenance and operating procedures, specifications and standards in accordance with international standards.
    • Investigate incidents.
    • Ensure AIA involvement and approval where applicable.
    • Identify new business development opportunities.
    • Compile sound business plans.
    • Execute full engineering modification processes.
    • Execute and interpret codes related to boiler, performance and process measurements.
    • Plan and execute equipment testing.
    • Evaluate performance results.
    • Monitor plant performance.
    • Ensure correct use of calibrated equipment.
    • Conduct boiler chemical cleaning.
    • Any other job related duties as required from time to time.

    • 10 Years’, preferably 15 years, experience in a similar engineering environment.
    • Knowledge of conditioning monitoring techniques.
    • Ability to interpret testing inspection database reports and computerised management system reports.
    • Knowledge of life cycle management.
    • General craft knowledge.

    Sound technical knowledge and understanding of the following plant areas and components including commissioning activities:

    • Boiler pressure parts
    • High pressure piping (HPP)
    • Milling Plant
    • Fuel gas clearing plant
    • Boiler control
    • Firing equipment
    • Soot blowing
    • Draught Plant
    • Motors and gear boxes
    • Ash removal plant
    • Overall boiler process optimisation
    • Valves
    • Computer literate (MS Office).

    Store Person /Transport Coordinator

    Main Purpose: 

    • To support the Equipment and Transport Control functions at the Middelburg Crane and Equipment Hire Depot.  

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Check and list equipment for dispatch to and received from various customer sites.
    • Capture of equipment movement on the ERP system (Navision).
    • Do basic stock keeping and stores functions (binning, stock counts, equipment preservation).
    • Reconcile stock quantities and asset numbers, including differences between physical items and ERP inventory list).
    • Ensure compliance to safe working procedures as well as Company operational procedures.
    • Maintain good housekeeping of general stores.
    • To ensure quality products are delivered to customers, do ongoing basic verification inspections on all equipment received and dispatched.
    • Responsible for the fleet administration function and key control of the fleet and the offices.
    • Do monthly reconciliations of fleet fuel expenses for the depot and sites.
    • Arrange transport with the Bethal depot for the delivery of plant and equipment.
    • Schedule calibration and load tests for Middelburg plant and equipment and maintain records thereof.
    • Keep accurate record of plant and vehicle hours and service kits.
    • Schedule servicing of cranes, equipment and vehicles.
    • Perform regular spot checks on plant equipment and vehicles.
    • Control and issue diesel for on-site usage.
    • Ensure that all pre-inspection forms are available and up to date.
    • Any other job related duties as required from time to time.

    • Living in/willing to relocate to Middelburg.
    • Willing to work overtime as and when required.
