    The incumbent in this role is responsible for assisting in managing and maintaining the Health and Safety Systems and assist with administrative duties within the Contractor Academy.

    Financial Accountant - Johannesburg

    GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

    • Ensure rigorous and robust governance and oversight processes for designated operating site of Copper Africa by applying best practices in line with fiscal and monetary regime/s within which the function resides; and by supporting financial accounting and reporting functions to ensure financial governance and discipline across finance functions and related service delivery.
    • Ensure financial reporting cycles for designated site in Copper Africa by ensuring timeous reporting of site financial and operating results; ensuring information is accurate, meaningful and prepared per standards in line with group reporting, industry, regulatory, IFRS, and other requirements. 
    • Review all GCF financial reporting deliverables (monthly, quarter-end and year-end) by applying technical accounting knowledge and skills, by drawing on appropriate templates, and by interrogating as appropriate where apparent anomalies are surface and/or are identified.
    • Apply financial/accounting and reporting processes efficiently relating to accounting, financial and reporting systems and processes within sphere of influence and control of designated site and Copper Africa by following set procedures and working within set systems (e.g. SAP) for effectively delivery of outputs 
    • Support the Financial Manager in the execution and achievement of activities and deliverables within designated area of the financial/accounting and reporting function in the areas of statutory accounting, financial reporting, technical accounting through the application of and adherence to financial/accounting practices, disciplines, controls and governance.
    • Ensure by adhering to financial reporting cycles, timeous reporting by designated site, ensuring data is accurate, meaningful and properly prepared on standardized template/s per regulatory requirements (e.g. IFRS) and group reporting requirements and chart of accounts
    • Identify areas of improvement within financial/accounting and reporting (Copper Africa) function of designated site through analysis, observation, and evaluation by generating detailed action plan/s relating specifically to corrective actions to be implemented by finance team within designated site.
    • Perform technical accounting review of complex transactions and/or financial arrangements by providing proposed treatment following outcome of review and preparing memorandum for review by Copper Africa executive leadership and financial reporting.
    • Establish and manage stakeholder relationships with internal stakeholders relating to designated site by being the first point of contact for end user technical queries and needs for financial/accounting and reporting (Copper Africa) function.

    This role will be based in South Africa, reporting to the Financial Manager - MPS. 

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Post-Graduate Degree in Commerce or Accounting

    Health Screening Technician - Clinic - Witbank

    The incumbent in this role is responsible for conducting assessments on employees and contractors (either audio / urine / spiro / vision or a combination of as required), the successful candidates will also take responsibility for maintaining equipment in a hygienic and safe condition; assisting with the administration related to relevant assessments; and ensuring sufficient stock levels,

    Key Responsibilities

    • Preparation of equipment and ensuring that it is hygienic before and after use, including the disposal of contaminated consumables using the correct procedures.
    • Conducting screening tests for medical surveillance programs. Ensuring completeness and accuracy of medical files including the updating of medical files with screening tests results and filing of medical records when required.
    • Controlling stock of consumables and reporting to the Unit Manager to ensure orders are processed timeously.
    • Assisting in arranging and participating in wellness campaigns.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Grade 12.
    • A Certificate in audiometry.
    • Registered with the South African Society of Occupational Health Nursing Practitioner.
    • Code EB (08) driver’s license.
    • An Auxiliary nurse registered with the South African Nursing Council and Basic Ambulance Assistant (BLS – Basic Life Support) registered with Health Professionals Council of South Africa will be an added advantage.
    • A certificate in HIV counselling and testing will be an added advantage.

    Minimum Experience

    • Minimum 2 years’ occupational health experience working in an occupational health clinic.

    Human Resources Superintendent - Witbank

    The role is responsible for ensure the constant flow of suitable qualified and experienced talent to meet the human resources requirements of the Operations within the Complex. The incumbent ensures that a positive culture is built and maintained within the Operations, that the Complex’s transformation agenda is driven, that Supervisors and Line Managers are provided support in managing people issues, that employee collective and individual issues are dealt with at the lowest possible level and that the Company’s Human Resources Policies and Procedures as well as legislative requirements are adhered to.

     Key Responsibilities

    • Translating the HR Strategy for the Complex into an action plan for the year for the Operations; providing input into the Life of Mine Plan and liaising with Operations Managers to put together the Labour Budget.
    • Providing input into the Complex’s Social and Labour Plan and Employment Equity Plan and ensuring that the HR elements of these are implemented.
    • Initiating requisitions to recruit and coordinating and overseeing the selection processes for vacancies in areas of responsibility in conjunction with the Group Transactional Services team as well as Hiring Managers within the Operations and own HR Team as relevant.
    • Overseeing that all time and attendance as well as bonus inputs are captured timeously for payroll.
    • Driving a positive Employee Relations Climate within Operations responsible for and ensuring that consultative forums as relevant are functional and meet at agreed upon intervals.
    • Ensuring and overseeing the implementation of HR Policies and Procedures, including assisting Supervisors and Line Managers in ensuring that discipline is maintained. Supporting the HR Manager in Dispute Resolution processes including strikes and lock-outs and representing the Complex in conciliation matters at the CCMA.
    • Driving Employee Wellness Programs in the Operations in line with the Company’s integrated Wellness Strategy.
    • Identifying risks in areas of responsibility and in consultation with the HR Manager and/or Operations Managers and putting in place plans to mitigate the risks.
    • Keeping abreast of developments and trends in the industry, legislation and general HR practice and engaging HR Manager as relevant to ensure that own processes keep up to speed with relevant developments and trends.

     Minimum Qualification:

    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources, 2 of which must be at an HR Officer level.

    Human Resources Superintendent – Melrose and Group Projects

    The role is responsible for providing an HR Service to the Melrose office (Coal Assets and Shared Services in the Coal payroll) and ensure the proper coordination of the Employee Relations, Wellness and Transformation (HR Elements) initiatives; conduct gap analyses of HR Policies and recommend updates in line with legislation, Glencore Human Resources Standards and ICMM Performance Expectations; as well as coordinating other Group HR Projects. 

     Key Responsibilities

    • Providing full HR Support for the Melrose Coal Assets Office.
    • Coordinating the timeous compilation and review of all relevant legislative planning and reporting documents to various government bodies and other relevant industry bodies including but not limited Social and Labour Plans, Mining Charter Reports, Department of Employment Labour EE Plans, BCEA variations, Minerals Council of South Africa reports etc.
    • Providing support for the establishment and maintenance of relevant HR Policies, procedures, templates and systems as they relate to employee relations, employee wellness and transformation (HR elements) and other relevant HR processes and projects.
    • Coordinating the activities of various Group Consultative Forums in line with the Employee Relations Framework and Participative Structures Agreement, including driving the execution of elements agreed to in the wage agreements.
    • Collating, preparing and obtaining sign-off for all HR internal communication and campaigns and liaising with the Communications Department as relevant.
    • Consolidating of monthly reports in areas of responsibility, monitoring of trends and driving the sharing of examples of internal and external best practices.

     Minimum Qualification:

    • Relevant Degree in Human Resources/Social Sciences.
    • A relevant post-graduate qualification is an added advantage.

    Minimum Experience:

    • Minimum 5-7 years HR Generalist experience, 2 of which must be at an HR Officer level.

    The incumbent in this role will be responsible for ensuring that all instrumentation equipment are continuously maintained and in a proper working order.

    In this role you will be responsible for:

    • Fault Finding and Programming on all Modular Dispatch Hardware.

    The incumbent in this role is responsible for monitoring trains, ensuring all scheduled trains are received and capitalise on additional resource availability.

    Project Legal Officer

    Your responsibilities will include, among other things (non-exhaustive):

    • Define and implement a project compliance framework, this includes identifying laws, regulations and standards applicable to projects, as well as creating processes and procedures to ensure compliance;
    • Assessing project compliance, this includes reviewing project documents and data, as well as interviewing project team members;
    • Write compliance reports, these reports document the results of the compliance assessment and identify areas where improvements are needed;

    Qualifications and experience:

    • Hold a university degree in contract law and construction law or a related field;
    • Proof of professional experience of at least five (5) years in the field of regulatory, contractual or environmental compliance;
    • Experience in implementing project management processes and financial systems will be beneficial;
    • Experience in drafting, negotiating and executing various commercial agreements, both for services and supplies. (SAP PO's , Fidic , etc.);
    • Experience in managing the relationship between the company representative(s) and the supplier representative(s), handling complaints and approving them;
    • Experience in reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts and project contracts;
    • Experience in the mining sector would be an asset

    Technical skills :

    • Knowledge of contract insurance requirements and ability to work with underwriters on both client and contractor sides;
    • Knowledge of contract closing processes;
    • Strong knowledge of end-to-end procurement processes for goods and services;
    • Strong knowledge and experience of the legal requirements of large projects;
    • Good knowledge of legal software (if applicable) and legal databases;
