    Engineering Health and Safety Manager(Maintenance Manager)

    What will I be doing?

    • As a Engineering Health and Safety Manager, you are responsible for the effective management of all engineering and maintenance operations within the hotel, including energy conservation.
    • You are also responsible for the development of the Engineering Team and staying abreast of compliance regulations and procedures in the field of Engineering, as required for hotel standards. Specifically, a Engineering Health and Safety Manager will be doing the following:
    • Lead the Engineering Team in the day-to-day engineering and maintenance operations of the hotel, including service standards, equipment schedules, and work schedules
    • Communicate with Housekeeping to coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities for Guest rooms and public areas
    • Develop systems and procedures to ensure the health and safety of Guests and Team Members, as well as the proper conditions for plants, machinery, and property
    • Communicate with Government agencies to ensure full compliance with statutory regulations
    • Prepare Capital and Repairs and Maintenance budgets for Engineering
    • Perform daily checks around the hotel
    • Conduct lift emergency release procedures as required
    • Diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment within the hotel
    • Ensure good relationships are built with internal and external customers
    • Maintenance of all hotel fixtures and fittings to ensure they are in safe condition and take action when any unsafe situations arise
    • Develop, implement, and direct all emergency programs
    • Develop, implement and manage energy conservation programs for the property to minimize expenses      
    • Coordinate renovation bidding, define the cost and scope of the project, and oversee the general contractor and subcontractors to ensure quality work is performed cost effectively
    • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned
    • Identify and introduce environmentally-friendly systems and equipment
    • Monitor Key Performance Indicators for the Engineering Department and take corrective action, as required, to improve equipment inventory, quality audit, productivity, and other objectives
    • Manage all Team Member related activities, including recruitment, performance management, training, career planning, disciplinary matters, and team motivation

    Finance Operations Manager - JHB

    Duties & Key Responsibilities

    Lead by Example

    • Come to work every day with a smile on your face
    • Execute duties as assigned by the General Manager and Regional Finance Director
    • Oversee all accounting, purchasing and IT operations on property
    • Be a great boss and role model for others with regards to brand-specific behaviours, and coach less experienced colleagues on the job
    • Ensure you and your team pro-actively support colleagues in operations departments during peak service hours (e.g. giving a helping hand in the restaurant at breakfast, clearing tables etc.).
    • Interview, select, on-board, supervise, coach, and evaluate Finance Operations team members
    • Organise and provide regular finance training opportunities for Finance Operations TMs as well as HODs
    • Provide a positive work environment to Finance Operations Team Members that allows everyone to thrive and fulfil their potential
    • Ensure that all Finance Operations TMs understand the purpose of their role and are equipped with the training and tools required to perform their duties at their best.
    • Ensure regular & effective communication (e.g. Huddles) in own department to achieve / maintain a high level of trust & engagement
    • Support the overall management of the hotel by establishing effective working relationships with other depts. ensuring a high level of cross departmental collaboration
    • Personally spend at least 30 minutes per day working alongside colleagues in Guest Operations e.g. F&B service, stewarding, housekeeping, front office to contribute to an outstanding brand unique guest experience in our hotel

    Accounting

    • Maintain accurate accounting records and provide easy to read and effective financial reports for various stakeholders such as Owner, GM, other HODs
    • Ensure that the balance sheet is a fair reflection of the assets and liabilities of the hotel. It must be regularly reviewed, and reconciliation must be performed for all accounts
    • Maintain a focused system of internal controls, which provides effective and efficient regulation of the hotel assets, liabilities, revenues, and costs.
    • Give advice on financial and commercial matters to the General Manager and HOD colleagues
    • Ensure proper use and maintenance of financial systems, including security and back up procedures

    Purchasing

    • Closely monitor purchasing activities and ensure receiving of goods is managed well

    IT

    • Work closely with above-property IT support to ensure smooth running of the IT network and help maintain site systems
    • Manage the IT lifecycle on property, ensuring the implementation of preventive maintenance on systems, efficient IT setups, and the provision of on-site support where required
    • Ensure accurate data and systems management                 

    What are we looking for?

    • Ability to analyze large volume of complex financial information from many sources and create reports, forecasts, and projections
    • Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to effectively address any issue in collaboration with others as appropriate
    • Ability to proactively identify and prevent potential problems
    • Ability to help develop problem solving skills among direct reports and other team members as appropriate
    • Ability to take initiative to identify, prioritize and implement all elements required for team to fulfill responsibilities
    • Ability to manage and develop staff

    Detail oriented and organized

    • Ability to develop presentations and effectively present to all levels of company, hotels & owners
    • Strong communication and negotiation skills (all levels of management and external customers)
    • Proficient in MS Excel, Word and Outlook with the ability to quickly learn new programs when required

    Commercial Manager - JHB

    What will I be doing?

    • Lead all sales, reservations and marketing activities on property

    • Interview, select, on-board, supervise, coach, and evaluate Commercial team members
    • Organise and provide regular commercial & sales training opportunities for TMs and HODs
    • Provide a positive work environment to Commercial & Sales Team Members that allows everyone to thrive and fulfil their potential
    • Ensure that all Commercial & Sales TMs understand the purpose of their role and are equipped with the training and tools required to perform their duties at their best.
    • Ensure regular & effective communication (e.g. Huddles) in own department to achieve / maintain a high level of trust & engagement
    • Make use of the brand specific Recognition Calendar and plan / execute respective actions on a very regular basis within the own sales team and in the whole hotel.

    • Personally spend at least 30 minutes every day, giving a helping hand to another department

    Key Commercial & Sales Activities

    • Analyse competitor activities and pricing strategies, trends of business by market segment, channel and GOB, and performance of existing customers
    • Develop the commercial strategy for the hotel and implement ruthlessly. Monitor progress against plan and make accurate forecasts
    • Schedule & execute detailed action plans to support the revenue generation in all segments and departments and beat the competition
    • Show and use the passion for your brand in all sales conversations and negotiations
    • Actively manage key accounts (all segments, including GCE)
    • Explore and invest time on developing innovative approaches to generate revenue (including F& B) and extend customer bases
    • Ensure that all rates are loaded correctly in systems / channels
    • Design, gain approval for, and execute the hotel’s marketing strategy and plan for rooms sales
    • Ensure that the hotel is well positioned and marketed on internet and other distribution channels, liaising closely with eCommerce
    • Facilitate regular sales training for Sales TMs and TMs from other departments to help drive revenue generation in the hotel
    • Work committedly with RMCC to ensure optimised rates and occupancy
    • Monitor reservations activities on property as well as collaborate closely with HRCC to ensure enquiries through both channels are dealt with properly, speedily and are converted into bookings at optimal rate

    What are we looking for?

    • A Commercial Manager serving Hilton brands is always working on behalf of our Guests and working with other Team Members. To successfully fill this role, you should maintain the attitude, behaviours, skills, and values that follow:
    • Minimum of 3+ year’s hospitality/travel industry experience in a revenue generating or commercial services role.
    • Minimum of 3+ years of experience presenting sales plans, presentations, etc. to senior level executives and constituent groups
    • 3+ experience working in a collaborative/matrixed environment
    • 3+ years working with departmental financial data to make strategic/tactical decisions
    • 3+ years of experience evaluating and identifying business opportunities for a business
    • At least 3 years of experience managing a sales or commercial team
    • Fluent in English

    It would be advantageous in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

    • 3+ years working in a multi-complex hotel/travel industry environment
    • Experience in multiple disciplines with knowledge of Marketing, E-commerce, and Finance
    • Local language, strong attribute to have
