    Director of Origination

    Job Summary 

    As the Director of Origination within this esteemed and forward-thinking company, you will lead and oversee the asset origination function, playing a crucial role in advancing shareholder and policyholder value by optimising portfolio performance. Your responsibilities will include developing and implementing strategic initiatives, providing direction and ensuring excellence in all aspects of this function.

    This position necessitates a candidate with a robust background in finance, investments, or economics, who is eager to make a substantial impact within a well-established organisation.

    Key qualifications and experience required for the Director of Origination:

    • Fully Qualified CA(SA) or CFA
    • 10 years’ experience in the financial services sector with a specialisation in fixed income or credit investments
    • Strong investment analysis and management skills
    • Proven track record of stakeholder management and team leadership
    • Ability to negotiate effectively with senior individuals at banks or corporate

    Key duties of the Director of Origination:

    • Manage and execute the asset origination function, ensuring optimal utilisation of resources
    • Develop an investment strategy for the asset origination function
    • Identify and source investment opportunities to enhance shareholder and policyholder value
    • Negotiate deals with senior individuals at banks or corporates
    • Review legal documentation associated with deals and ensure they are commercially viable
    • Monitor assets originated for covenant breaches to minimise risk of defaults and financial losses
    • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
    • Collaborate with credit team and portfolio managers to ensure deals are structured within risk appetite
