    Mineral Resources Practitioner Strata Control

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    • To identify and locate geological features and make support recommendations
    • To investigate Fall of Ground occurrences and adverse rock conditions in safe manner and make support recommendations
    • To utilise his/her skills and knowledge and apply it within provided Strata Control systems, processes, policies, procedures and resources, to meet the short-term demands in a defined area, as determined by the HOD.     PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    To safely maintain and repair mechanical parts, components and equipment.

    Description

    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    Supervise personnel and control analytical processes in the laboratory by ensuring that all equipment, material and resources are available and optimally functioning to provide a professional laboratory service to the mine/smelter.

    SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT AND QUALITY

    • Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
    • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
    • Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
    • Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status.
    • Perform LSBO, PTO, Near miss, MOC management plans auditing and action management on IMS
    • Focus and drive mini business target performance of the laboratory and related reporting against such targets
    • Participate in formal SHEQ Audits
    • Participate in Significant Incident investigations regarding customer complaints and non-conformance

    PEOPLE

    • Accepts responsibility as Technical Signatory for the laboratory results and carry legal appointment as required by ISO 17025.
    • Compiling the Certificate of Analysis by assuming responsibility by signing off the certificate, as technical signatory
    • Have sufficient current knowledge of the method used, as well as the objectives of the test/calibration/inspection.
    • Be able to assess and interpret the data, and act on any trends observed.
    • Ensure the quality of the results and be confident when authorising results or measurements.
    • Have comprehension of the Technical Requirements of the relevant International or National standard
    • Be conversant with the ISO 9001 quality management system implemented within the organisation.
    • Authorise, check, interpret and process daily results
    • Participate in Samancor Group ISO 17025 audits
    • Authorise to develop, modify, validate methods and roll out procedures to ensure quality control measures are integrated into the laboratory processes
    • Be able to do all back calculations on all instrumentation outputs
    • Prepare and analyse samples for continuous evaluation of TS (Technical Signature) competency as required by ISO 17025
