    The following are the minimum entry requirements into each of the programmes:

    Minimum Entry Requirements

    • Matric with Mathematics (not Mathematics Literacy), Physical Science and English (all with minimum 40% pass), or
    • N2 or higher with all subjects as per the specific Discipline Requirements or
    • NCV Level - 4 in appropriate trade with all subjects passed with a minimum 40% pass

    Trade Test Requirements

    • A minimum of N2 Subjects/ certificate with applicable subjects for the relevant trade as specified
    • Mathematics
    • Engineering Science
    • Relevant Trade Theory
    • Industrial Electronics, or Engineering Drawings or Plating Structural Drawings
    • NCV Level - 4 in appropriate trade with all subjects passed with a minimum 40% pass

    HR Planning Officer - 12 Month FTC

     

    Job Description

    • The HR Planning Officer will be responsible for coordinating the planning and steering of HR in Managed Operations and De Beers T&S through designing HR metrics and yearly calendar of HR projects and initiatives. Assist the department toward HR excellence through providing planning tools, reports and performance matrix which are aligned with the people strategy deliverables

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Support the HR Department with the annual HR Business Plan and work with team to develop meaningful measures to ensure positive delivery.
    • Develop and maintain an HR yearly metrics to guide the department on annual activities from HR Business plan.
    • Work on HR project and provide data and metrics as necessary for review and evaluation to include ROI analysis.
    • Actively supports the delivery of De Beers people strategy by providing professional support and required training to HR managers and HRBP for HR related outputs.
    • Assist Head of HR with managing the HR risk register for the department.
    • Prepare reports and graphs for HR monthly meetings to ensure that people related decisions are monitored by relevant data and trends and that HR delivery is appropriately measured.
    • Supports talent data updates on Navigator and EXCO career discussion panels.
    • Use reports and analytics to structure interventions to assist Head of HR to develop interventions to delivery people’s strategy.
    • Provide general support to Head of HR in managing the office and liaise with other stakeholders.

    Qualifications

    • A Human Resources Management or Industrial Psychology Degree.

    Role-specific knowledge and experience:

    • Proven work experience as an HR Advisor, HR Consultant, or similar role.
    • Previous experience utilizing HR systems.
    • Knowledge of labour legislation.

    Instrumentation Apprenticeship

    Job Description

    • The successful applicant will be contracted as an Apprentice through the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Seta (MERSETA) for the duration of the training Programme.
    • There is no contractual obligation with regards to permanent placement in the respective trade after completion of the Apprenticeship Programme.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum requirement of Technical Grade 12/Matric or N2.

    Resident Engineer (Concentrators)

    Job Description

    As a Resident Engineer: Concentrators, you will lead and manage resources to deliver production targets and projects as required: You will also be responsible for the following:

    • Provide visible felt leadership in safety, sustainable development and Anglo American values.
    • Contributes to the development of the strategic operational plans and strategy to Support Services.
    • Develops implements and monitors engineering maintenance, risk and Support Services strategies and plans.
    • Provides and oversees engineering services, infrastructure (roads, power, water) and equipment availability are adequate and maintained to meet operational goals.
    • Leads and manages resources (labour, spares, suppliers. Contractors etc) to deliver production targets and projects as required
    • Ensures compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety and risk management standards and best practices.
    • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with relevant stakeholders.
    • Manages implements and contributes to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives and projects for engineering processes.
    • Ensures compliance to all group, BU and other engineering and asset management standards and specifications within the area of accountability

    Qualifications

    • Degree or National Higher Diploma in Engineering (electrical or mechanical)
    • Government Certificate of Competency (Mines and Works)
    • Minimum 5 years experience as a Section Engineer
    • Relevant post-graduate qualification (engineering /leadership/management) will be advantageous.
    • Open pit/surface mining experience will be advantageous.

    Finance Analyst (18 Months Fixed Term Contract)

    Job Description

    • The Business Planning team sits at the heart of the business with the objective of supporting the executive in maximizing De Beers Group’s valuation whilst balancing the needs of all our stakeholders
    • The team is most effective when it comprises a mix of individuals with a broad range of skills and experiences including direct operational experience (engineering / mine planning) and financial analyst experience. This supports its ability to collaborate with a broad stakeholder group from across the business to understand opportunities and challenges facing the Group to ensure we target outcomes that maximise value.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Participate in the preparation of the joined up De Beers consolidated Business plan (5-year focus and life of mine).
    • Prepare presentation materials and reports in support of Investment Cases, De Beers Group Capital Plan, Business Plan and Budget.
    • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the business units assigned to the role with the view of gaining in-depth knowledge of their operations including risks and opportunities with respect to their 5 year / LOM plans.
    • A strong understanding of the requirements of shareholder and how these requirements impact on Business Unit performance and delivery.
    • Conduct monthly flash report calls with assigned Business Unit and analyse the monthly operational performance against plan in the Mining businesses, identify trends and clearly articulate potential upside or risk to Senior Management.
    • Review Monthly / Quarterly Performance Reports prepared by the Business Units and highlight any questions or prompts to Senior Management that should be flagged to the Business Units.
    • Analyse the monthly spend against the approved capital plans for the Mining Business. Identify key trends, investigate variances and clearly articulate risks and opportunities.
    • Together with the Technical and Sustainability and Investments, conduct project reviews, business cases for major investments / dis-investments as required by Business Units and shareholders.

    Qualifications

    • Degree in a relevant technical mining discipline or other appropriate financial qualification.
    • Higher technical degree and/or CIMA/CA would be advantageous.

    Knowledge and experience required:

    • Experience within a financial role providing a service to a mining client.
    • Experience in compilation of strategic business plans.
    • Interest in understanding mining economics.
    • Knowledge of investment appraisal techniques of examining, questioning , evaluating reports.
    • On-mine operational experience preferable but not essential.
    • Good report writing skills, with the ability to clearly and succinctly summarise business cases, risks and key success factors.
    • Knowledge of managing projects and with the ability to work independently.
    • Capacity for detailed work but with the ability to discern and communicate key trends, risks and critical success factors behind the business or project.

    Occupational Hygienist

    Job Description

    As the Occupational Hygienist, you will be responsible for identifying any hazard which adversely affects the productivity of human performance by assessing, analysing, putting controls in place to it to a level where there are no risk persons working in that environment.

    • Audit compliance to standards
    • Trend analysis of occupational exposure data and linkage of data to occupational groups
    • Manage Emergency Preparedness and response programs and systems
    • Potable and service Water quality.
    • Implement Occupational Hygiene programmes to meet objectives and targets
    • ISO 45001 compliance
    • Assess Plant and process design for risks associated with occupational health
    • Assess Procurement of new equipment, material, or substances for risks associated with occupational health
    • Education and awareness of employees on occupational health hazards and risks including controls to mitigate such risks
    • Incident investigation

    This role is in the SHE Department and is at a Band 6 level reporting to the SHE Manager

    Qualifications

    • Degree in Occupational Hygiene or related.
    • Registration with the South African Institute of Occupational Hygiene [SAIOH] on Occupational Hygienist level,
    • Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control [MEC].
    • Occupational Hygiene Legal Knowledge Certificate – Advantageous
    • Advance in Mine Environmental Control- Advantageous

    Experience:

    • At least 5 years post qualification experience in the field of occupational hygiene.
    • At least 2 years of which were in a mining and/or processing environment.

    Knowledge & Skills

    • Code B driver’s license
    • Computer literacy
    • Presentation / facilitation / training
    • Data analysis skills and in-depth knowledge of all relevant legislation pertaining to SHE
