    Data Manager - Gugulethu

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 with undergraduate degree in medical, scientific, biological, statistical, computer science, or related field
    • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience designing a database, running and resolving data queries
    • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in data quality management
    • A minimum of 1 years of supervisory and staff management
    • Must be proficient in MS Excel, Access and other browser-based metadata EDC software (e.g. REDCap)
    • Knowledge of research documentation standards
    • Valid Driving license and own vehicle
    • Strong verbal and written communication
    • Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
    • Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
    • Attention to detail

    Advantageous:

    • MPH or other relevant post-graduate degree
    • Valid Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certificate
    • Ability to speak isiXhosa
    • Experience with statistical packages e.g. STATA would be beneficial
    • Knowledge of HIV & ART would be beneficial

    Responsibilities:

    • Regular update and maintenance of data in long-standing DTHF antiretroviral databases; including liaison with Provincial Dept. of Health or City of Cape Town staff from whom data is sourced.
    • Development of research study-specific databases for data entry during the study using, for example, Access or Redcap;
    • Provide oversight of research data collection for the DTHF Centre for Adherence and Therapeutics (D-CAT) studies - including web-based systems for wireless electronic adherence monitoring data, and the web-and tablet-based system for questionnaire data
    • Regular validation and QC of all study and ART databases
    • Line management of D-CAT Data clerk team (two to three staff)
    • Support of on-site junior data manager team (two staff)
    • Generate reports for clinical collaborators and researchers

    Data Coordinator - Eastern Cape

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Information Technology, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or other related qualification
    • Proficiency in using data collection software such as REDCap, CommCare, ACASI, etc.
    • At least 1-2 years of experience working with databases, data procedures, and data administration
    • Experience in the development of back-end database systems including SQL, Oracle, and MariaDB
    • Knowledge of research documentation standards
    • Strong verbal and written communication
    • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
    • Ability to work well under pressure
    • Strong leadership, interpersonal, collaboration, and strategic thinking skills

    • Experience working in a research environment
    • Knowledge of research methodology, including quantitative and qualitative methods.
    • Knowledge of the POPI Act and its impact on data collection, management, and sharing

    Responsibilities:

    • Design and Maintenance of electronic data collection platforms such as REDCap.
    • Carry out data management process including data quality control and quality assurance.
    • Support the development and implementation of real-time data quality assurance processes and procedures
    • Perform data cleaning and log data queries for investigation.
    • Work with the Data Manager to develop data management and quality assurance plans, including project progress monitoring tools
    • Training and managing junior staff
    • Assist Data Manager with preparation and extraction of analytic datasets, and perform analyses for project PI and managers
    • Manage data collection resources, assets, and tools
    • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
    • Attend Data Management meetings
    • Support field implementation of data collection, quality assurance, and management activities for DTHF in Eastern Cape.

    Grants Manager - Woodstock

    Requirements

    • Degree in finance and/or related field of study 
    • Minimum of five years’ Grant management/ accounting experience including the preparation of Audit Committee Reports, management accounts and income and expenditure statements 
    • Minimum 5 years experience managing staff 
    • Experience in working on SAP Business 1 or similar financial software
    • Knowledge of Office Suite and Excel
    • Knowledge of grants policies and procedures (e.g. NIH and EU)
    • Knowledge and implementation of SARS rules on VAT of income
    • Computer literacy in Ms Office; Excel (Advanced)
    • Attention to detail and good numeracy skills
    • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving abilities
    • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written 
    • Integrity, a personal sense of accountability

    Responsibilities:

    Optimising the grants system

    • Ensuring all Standing Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and policies are in place
    • Develop a dashboard in SAP for visibility of the grants function
    • Financial reporting and risk mitigation
    • Oversee the Debtors function and ensure that invoicing takes place as per milestones and according funder contracting
    • Quarterly reporting to the Audit & Risk Committee on grants pipeline and project sustainability status
    • Oversee the issuance of valid, accurate and complete grant related information to auditors, funders and any other ad hoc stakeholders

    Grants Finance Management:

    • Oversee grants management process flow and SOP to ensure timely submission of grants to funding agencies (within due dates)
    • Develop and maintain expertise in the grants proposal legal framework and funder requirements
    • Assign and support the Grants Finance Officer allocation to new grant proposals, to ensure the financial requirements of the organisation are met
    • Develop and maintain a database for active grants to ensure that all post-award reporting deadlines are adhered to and sustainability can be measured
    • Ensure funder specific compliance requirements are met with regards to proper allocation of revenue and expenditure to projects
    • Maintain a high level of knowledge of grant contract terms and conditions to support problem solving and resolution of complex post-award issues (e.g. carry-over requests, resourcing of early termination costs, Project-to-Project cost allocations, etc.)
    • Ensure cohesion between core finance and grants finance to efficiently and effectively manage post award reporting
    • Sign off on all funder financial reports and present to CFO monthly for final sign off by CFO
    • Manage the organisation revenue for sustainability through the invoicing and Budget vs Actual expenditure monitoring across all active awards for presentation to CFO
    • Close out inactive awards and keep accurate and up to date database of changes to status of projects
