    Claims Administration Clerk (JG 10)

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The Admin clerk is responsible for the registration of new claims. This position entails ensuring accurate registration of claims within the agreed service level agreement and general administrative duties as required.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Register claims within agreed service level agreements.
    • Ensure accuracy of data captured on Santam and Broker systems.
    • Ensure that claims are registered against the correct policy section based on the information provided.
    • Liaise with brokers.  
    • Correction of errors/data that are identified on claims already registered.
    • Send infographics to clients once claim is registered.
    • Upload claim documents to document storage.
    • Generate documents from broker system where required.
    • Schedule claims to Desktop team (if necessary).

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Grade 12 certificate
    • Computer Literate (MS Office package:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet)
    • 2 – 3 years Claims Services environment experience (Short-term Insurance)
    • Personal Lines and Commercial Lines knowledge/ experience
    • Strong client service orientation

    Business Liaison officer

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Santam places great value in our relationship with our business partners, which is why we’ve identified a need to avail ourselves to both Sanlam Tied Advisors and the Snr Business Development Manager through a dedicated support role. 

    What will make you successful in this role?

    The Business Liaison Officer will be responsible to maintain relationships between the various internal channels within Santam, Sanlam and Sanlam advisors. 

    The successful incumbent’s responsibilities includes but not limited to:

    • Liaising with the Recruitment administrator for effective handover to on board new advisers 
    • On boarding for newly appointed Advisers
    • Effectively solve escalations/complaints and the management of expectations whilst utilising available resources
    • Offer administration and business support in facilitating the completion of requests within published service level agreements.
    • Formulate structured reports to Senior BDM, Advisers, Sanlam and Santam stakeholders.
    • Administration support to the Senior BDM 
    • Co-ordinate training schedules with the various product providers 
    • Co-ordinate and manage logistics of workshops, Adviser connect sessions 
    • Facilitating marketing related requests from Advisers

    Claims Specialist: Casualty Claims (SHA)

    What will make you successful in this role?

    Claims Practice Management 

    • Attend and manage all aspects related to a portfolio of specialist claims such as claims registration, case management, drafting, diary, recoveries, and settlement negotiations.
    • Draft settlement agreements and other legal documents within mandate as per the Claims Governance Folder.
    • Strategically manage a portfolio of claims.
    • Manage loss adjusters and attorneys appointment on matters and ensure compliance with agreed service level agreements.
    • Monitor and manage legal spend of attorneys and loss adjusters.
    • Manage system processing and compliance with systems by way of payments, updating signed off reserves, proper recordal of information etc.
    • Attend to Operational duties as allocated 
    • Compile and manage risk reports when required
    • Actively manage and record claims above certain thresholds as per The Claims Governance Folder and report on matters to Claims Co and Executive where required.
    • Comply with internal and external regulatory framework and internal and external processes and procedures in accordance with organisational standards.
    • Draft processes and procedures that are compliant with relevant regulatory framework and applicable legislation. 
    • Effectively liaise and interact with Underwriters. 

    Analysis

    • Consider, analyse and interpret insurance policy and the contractual impact thereof for the determination of coverage;
    • Critically analyse the facts of the matter and their impact on the underlying policy.
    • Draft opinions on the interpretation of coverage in relation to the facts and the applicable policy, present and motivate;
    • Draft opinions on merits and quantum of matter with the relevant caselaw and legislation applicable;
    • Apply critical thinking to ensure appropriate decisions on merits, quantum and policy response.
    • Critically consider and evaluate information provided and identify information required.
    • Conduct a strategic assessment of claims and make strategic decisions and recommendations on handling of claims.
    • Develop and maintain an understanding of technical and legal aspects impacting on the policy’s operation.
    • Make representations and recommendations on improved wording and trends identification to underwriters

    Individual Claims Leadership

    • Be involved in continuous training and development in respect of Case Law, Policy wording, etc. 
    • Assist in identifying and developing SOP’s and processes to ensure claims department effectiveness.
    • Take initiative in creating opportunities of interaction with Brokers and Insureds. 

    Client Liaison (Internal and External)

    • Liaise with clients to resolve queries to the satisfaction of the affected parties within the scope of authority and / or responsibility.
    • Prepare for and attend meetings and consultation with brokers, insureds, legal representatives and loss adjusters.

    Qualification and Experience

    Senior Mobile Engineer

    The role

    We are looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer to lead the design, development and maintenance of the Android and IOS mobile apps. Your ultimate goal is to ensure we utilise the latest trends and technologies in mobile engineering to continuously improve our mobile apps. You enjoy moving fluidly between design, development, testing debugging, performance optimization, and leading complex technical projects from start to finish. You will report to the Head of Technology and work daily with a squad of designers, engineers and testers.

    You will be part of an Engineering team that will be growing to 14 team members by 2024. You’ll work closely with the other parts of the business (actuarial, marketing, operations and product) and the rest of the Engineering team, to deliver on our technology goals.

    The team

    The Engineering team builds and operates a modern, cloud-first digital insurance platform at the core of Santam Switch. The team owns the business layer, insurance engine and APIs that power our mobile app and partner integrations. The Engineering team has five main functional areas/disciplines:

    • Platform Engineering: Builds the insurance platform at the core of Santam Switch.
    • Cloud Engineering: Builds the core cloud infrastructure that underlies our platform.
    • Mobile Engineering: Builds Android and IOS mobile apps using React, Swift and Kotlin.
    • Quality Assurance: Responsible for quality across the entire platform.
    • IT Operations: Responsible for ensuring the smooth and secure operation of IT services.

    Improve the quality of our applications.

    • You will own the key performance indicators of the mobile apps and drive their visibility and use to continuously improve our architecture and processes.
    • This can mean: paying down technical debt, rearchitecting old design decisions, and improving performance and resilience.

    Extend the applications.

    • Working closely with the Product team, you will build new capabilities for the applications that empower our users.
    • You will lead the mobile architecture design and decision-making for your area of applications.

    Improve our team.

    • You will share your experience and knowledge.
    • You will improve our documentation, and document your design decisions and rationale.
    • You will mentor your fellow engineers.

    Our ideal candidate

    • 5+ years of software development experience (e.g. Software Engineer).
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
    • Experience with cloud services. We use Amazon Web Services for all our infrastructure and service needs so relevant experience with AWS is a bonus, but experience with any of the major cloud providers is welcome.
    • Good software development skills. Experience with any high-level programming language is a must. Most of our applications are built with React, JavaScript, Kotlin (Android), and Objective-C (IOS) so you would be expected to become productive in those languages.
    • Experience in Insurance or Financial Services is advantageous.
    • Experience in a start-up environment is advantageous.

    Reinsurance Claims Administrator

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The main responsibilities will entail executing the financial aspects of reinsurance claims, including the processing of reinsurance claims transactions, preparing claim reports and settling/recovering outstanding balances.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Accurate loading of all claims and reserves 
    • Claims queries with relevant internal and external stakeholders 
    • Reviewing of reserves and estimates bi-annually, based on the reserve report and renewal packs
    • Timely payment of claims
    • Monthly claims reporting (adhoc)

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    • Matric (minimum) with accounting or tertiary qualification with accounting as a module
