    Laboratory Assistant : Basic Medical Sciences : Ref : RF03

    Minimum Requirements:

    • National Diploma
    • At least six months of experience working at an Anatomy or Mortuary facility, with some experience in an academic Anatomy facility

    Summary of Duties:

    • To provide general assistance to the Technician, Senior Technician or Academic staff in Anatomy by ensuring designated laboratory/lecture venue is kept in an orderly state at all times;

    Associate Professor : HRM

    Minimum requirements

    • A PHD / doctorate in (NQF level 10) in Human Resources Management as well as all undergraduate qualifications in Human Resources or related disciplines. The standard achieved in each of the abovementioned must be of a very high level.
    • At least 7 years of teaching experience in a public Higher Education institution.
    • A minimum of seven DHET accredited publications/creative outputs over the preceding three years.
    • Successful postgraduate supervision of at least two Masters’ students and one Doctorate student.
    • The standard achieved in each of the abovementioned must be of a high level.
    • Recipient of grant awards.
    • Evidence of leadership in community organizations and participation in activities in the wider community relating specifically to the academic discipline of the candidate and/or involvement in significant community activities in professional, cultural, religious, sporting, developmental, and other fields.
    • Bibliometrics to evaluate the quality of research output.

     

    A candidate must show proof of having been recognized as a very competent teacher as evidenced by:

    • Exceptional knowledge of his or her subject matter/discipline.
    • Excellent classroom and tutorial performance.
    • Effective utilization of innovative teaching and assessment methods.
    • Very good communication and human relations skills.
    • Excellent performance as an academic advisor who encourages active learning among students.
    • Pedagogical teaching philosophy.
    • Effective design and development of curriculum.

    Responsibilities

    The responsibilities of the successful candidate include:

    • Teaching Human Resource Management and related subjects at the undergraduate and at the postgraduate level;
    • Participating in Curriculum development
    • Conducting academic and scholarly research in pursuit of the Faculty’s research objectives;
    • Supervising students at the postgraduate level;
    • Assisting with academic administration and management when required;
    • Providing mentorship to junior staff
    • Performing other duties as may be required by the Head of Department

    Lecturer Positions : Public Relations - Durban

    Minimum Academic requirements

    • Master’s degree and undergraduate study in Public Relations/Communications or related (Marketing)
    • At least 3 years teaching experience in Public Relations/Communications or related (Marketing)
    • Teaching and record of research publications in accredited journals would be a strong recommendation
    • Preference will be given to applicants who are registered for a PhD

     ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Commercial or industrial related experience
    • Demonstrate innovative thinking towards teaching and learning
    • Availability to work at other DUT campuses, in the evenings and weekends and sometimes away from home
    • Conduct teaching, learning and assessment using a blended mode
    • For the Lecturer position it is recommended that a candidate is at an advanced level of completing a PhD

     SUMMARY OF DUTIES

    • Take responsibility for the teaching, learning and assessing of modules offered, at all levels, and associated with the programmes in the Department
    • Make major contributions to the academic quality by providing leadership of all aspects of offerings associated with Public Relations and Communication Science in the Department
    • Lead, develop, design and review all learning content associated with Public Relation/Communication Science

    Supervise and co-supervise postgraduate students

    • Publish in reputable, DHET accredited
    • Promote community engagement within the Department
    • General administrative duties assigned by the Head of Department
