    HOD: IT, CAT, Coding and Robotics

    Job Summary:

    • The Head of Department (FET) IT, CAT, Coding, and Robotics will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the IT, Computer Applications Technology (CAT), Coding, and Robotics departments within the organization. This includes developing and implementing curriculum, overseeing faculty members, and ensuring the successful operation of the departments.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement curriculum for IT, CAT, Coding, and Robotics programs.
    • Manage and oversee faculty members within the departments, including hiring, training, and evaluating their performance.
    • Ensure that all departmental policies and procedures are being followed and maintain a high standard of academic excellence.
    • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to enhance the overall educational experience for students.
    • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and technologies in the fields of IT, CAT, Coding, and Robotics.
    • Lead strategic initiatives and projects to improve the departments and implement best practices.
    • Manage department budgets, resources, and facilities effectively.
    • Stay informed about accreditation standards and ensure that the departments meet all necessary requirements.
    • Provide leadership and mentorship to faculty members and students within the departments.
    • Represent the departments at meetings, conferences, and other events as necessary.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Education, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
    • At least 5 years of experience in teaching or managing IT, CAT, Coding, or Robotics programs.
    • Strong knowledge of curriculum development and education best practices.
    • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
    • Experience with budget management and strategic planning.
    • Proficiency with technology tools and software relevant to the departments.

    Head of Programme

    Job Description
    The Head of Programme (HOP) will be responsible for ensuring effective interaction between the faculty/department and the brands with respect to all matters related to the IIE and the faculty but in particular to the modules or programmes for which s/he is primarily responsible. 

    As this is a senior academic appointment it is not expected that the full range of activities will be encapsulated within a position description – instead, a person is expected to act responsibly within at least the following range of responsibilities.  

    Key Areas of

    Responsibility Include

    • Review, development and implementation, subject to the policies and governance procedures of the IIE, of the curriculum, syllabus and material development of those designated programmes or modules (some of which may be service courses) for which the Head of Programme is responsible
    • Aspects of faculty administration as delegated by the Head of Faculty
    • Establishment and maintenance of effective interaction between the faculty/department and the brands with respect to the particular programmes for which s/he is responsible and more generally,
    • Identify and monitor programme developers including briefing and the quality assurance of their work,
    • Responsible for the setting and monitoring of minimum standards for delivery and assessment including management of academic incidents related to assessment,
    • Tracking of student performance, in cooperation with trading division national offices, in designated programmes and modules including planning and monitoring of interventions that may be required to address problems,
    • Responsible for the identifying, briefing and managing of moderators in consultation with the trading division and for managing the moderation of assessments within the faculty – this includes planning and implementation of problem-solving strategies as needed,
    • Active commitment to the maintenance of academic standards and of curriculum areas within the discipline – this includes capacity building on campus and own personal commitment to keeping up to date,
    • Demonstrated commitment to the development, implementation and monitoring of all IIE policies,
    • Active commitment to capacity building on the campuses of the brands and where applicable the preparation and delivery of peer lectures and seminars - one of the key focuses here has to be building of capacity of lecturers to work with a diverse student body,
    • Participate in, and contribute to, the IIE/faculty’s activities, particularly its seminars and workshop programmes,
    • Participation in the key governance structures and committees as may be required from time to time,

    Qualifications:

    • A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Education with particular expertise in Mathematics Education in schools focusing on the Foundation Phase and the Intermediate Phase.

    Company Secretary Administrator

    Overall Purpose of the Job (Please provide a summary of why the job was created and what the main responsibilities are

    To administer the company secretarial activities, specifically but not limited to CIPC work, of the Group Company Secretariat/ Legal department to ensure compliance with the relevant statutory requirements and maintain accurate, timeous and secure corporate documents and records. Provides general administrative support to the Group Company Secretary. Assists with meeting / travel arrangements.

     CIPC  Administration

    • Attends to the Group’s information provision compliance requirements of the CIPC using the portal
    • Prepares and submits Annual returns as required and files for safekeeping
    • Keeps Beneficial Ownership/ Interest Registers up to date
    • Records all registrations and/or director/ auditor/ committee membership changes and ensures these are updated timeously

    Documentation & Record Keeping

    • Prepares and circulates Directors annual disclosures (Directors conflict of interest declarations / independency declarations) and follows up to obtain properly completed documents for safekeeping
    • Distributes meeting documents, resolutions and other relevant communications via Diligent Boards / Boardpac
    • Distributes resolutions of subsidiary companies of the group for signature and follows up on receipt of documents
    • Files and maintains statutory records (Minutes / Resolutions etc.) timeously and securely and ensures their accessibility when required
    • Collates documents and retains records in compliance with FICA and KYC in respect of the group of companies

    Office Support

    • Arranges travel / car rental / accommodation for the Company Secretarial and Group Legal department as necessary and in accordance with company policy and procedures
    • Obtains sign-off of invoices and submits for payment via D365 for Group Legal and Company Secretariat department
    • Deals with post and liaises with couriers both incoming and outgoing
    • Makes the necessary arrangements for meetings: books board rooms, catering and equipment
    • Handles correspondence and regulatory filing with appropriate authorities
    • Provides administrative support to the Group Company Secretary as required

    Education

    • Matric/ Grade 12
    • Studying toward a Company Secretarial diploma or similar tertiary qualification
    • Administers the systems that ensure the company complies with all applicable codes and regulations. Initiates technological support/ assistance in the event of problems being encountered
    • Assists with any administrative matters and/or problems pertaining to corporate governance/ compliance
