    Consultant: Employee Relations

    Main Purpose: the incumbent will be responsible for the enhancement of  stakeholder relations in order to ensure harmonious relationships with in the workplace.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    BUSINESS OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY

    • Ensure the effective administration of the independent contractor system
    • Conduct effective labour relations training with line management
    • Ensure that disciplinary procedures are conducted efficiently and professionally
    • Provide effective advice to management on disciplinary and labour issues
    • Partner with business in reducing the number of disputes to ensure stability
    • Filing of papers at the CCMA, Labour Court and any labour relations tribunal on behalf of the corporation
    • Effectively resolve disputes declared by unions/individuals to the satisfaction of all parties involved
    • Resolve grievances to the satisfaction of the individual involved
    • Overseeing the process of labour litigation
    • Effective negotiation and consultation with unions and stakeholders I order to reach agreement on labour issues
    • Provide input into the annual strategic plans for Labour Relations
    • Studying trends in labour relations within the SABC in order to provide pro-active advice regarding possible actions that can be taken to management
    • Conduct ad hoc investigations regarding labour issues and make recommendations on possible solutions
    • Effective negotiation and consultation with unions and stakeholders in order to reach agreement on labour issues
    • Keeping abreast of the latest developments regarding labour legislation in order to provide relevant advice to line management
    • Representing the Corporation at the CCMA.

    GOVERNANCE , RISK AND COMPLIANCE

    • Ensures the development and review of internal control measures to ensure good governance.
    • Oversee the management of risks to protect organisational integrity, create value, prevent financial loss and ensure compliance with applicable policies and legislations. 
    • Keeping abreast of the latest developments regarding labour legislation in order to provide relevant advice to top and line management
    • Accurate interpretation of SABC policies in order to provide advice to management on SABC policies and procedures.
    • Develop strategies and policies with regard to negotiations for the SABC.

    STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT

    • Provide support and assistance to the Chief Negotiator of SABC as employer in the bargaining forum and other relevant collective engagement structures.
    • Creating value in each customer / stakeholder interaction and focusing on the total customer experience
    • Liaison with lawyers in order to provide them with instructions and assistance during cases referred to the labour court.

    INHERENT/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • National Diploma / Bachelor Degree in Human Resource/ / Industrial Relations/ Labour Law or equivalent qualification(NQF6/7)

    EXPERIENCE

    • 6 years’ industry experience in Employee Relation environment of which 3 years should be on direct exposure, with a proven track record, in managing and attending to collective bargaining, CCMA or BC litigation and process, Labour Court and Labour Appeal Court litigation and processes on behalf of an organisation, drafting of legal documents, managing disciplinary and grievance processes.

    KNOWLEDGE

    • Understanding of employment law and employee relations.
    • Understanding of labour litigation at CCMA or accredited bargaining council (conciliations and arbitrations)

    Audio Visual Imaging Producer( Ukhozi FM)

    Main purpose of position

    To conceptualize, produce and deliver high quality Seasonal, Generic, Programme Specific and Campaign Specific multi-platform Imaging Material & Promos in line with the station’s sound and feel, programme briefs, campaign briefs and programming & marketing strategies.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Conceptualize, script,  and produce cutting edge, top notch, break through generic, seasonal and thematic Station Imaging (jingles, promos, liners).
    • Prepare/compile briefs for station’s brand and imaging campaigns.
    • Identify and utilize relevant voice overs in order to produce station imaging.
    • Receive bookings and prepare for recordings, ensuring all equipment, facilities and resources are available for production, according to production specifications
    • Assist in the planning, preparation, logistical arrangements and production of station promos
    • Effective recording of productions, ensuring the optimal mix of all the sound for broadcast, recording and sound reinforcement, in order to optimally deliver on the production needs and requirements.
    • Continually monitor the technical quality of recording, ensuring optimal quality of broadcast and adherence to broadcasting standards
    • Timeous and accurate administration of production procedures, ensuring adherence to operational standards.
    • Effective monitoring of technical quality and reporting of faults, in order to resolve any technical problems.

    • Engage with internal content contributors (News & CAFF, Sport and Commercial Enterprises) and go through various plans for the monthly content plans for imaging and promo alignment.
    • Provide recordings as per brief from Sales for client campaigns.
    • Provide post audio recordings or montages for client campaigns.
    • Communicate and schedule recordings with station voices.

    Requirements:

    • National Diploma or Degree in Sound Engineering or related discipline. (NQF level 6)
    • 4 years’ experience in broadcasting environment of which 2 years should be on radio technical production. 
    • Proficiency in recording and editing software (i.e. pro tools, audacity, adobe etc).
    • Above average experience and knowledge of broadcasting production technology and digital media application
    • Above average proficiency of the English language (spoken and written) is essential
    • Ability and willingness to work under pressure and on short notice
    • Good research skills and ability to apply research information
    • Knowledge of popular music and current affairs will be an advantage

    MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION

    Effective & efficient support of technology, operations and resources to install, sustain and provide administration of broadcast systems/ facilities, equipment, servers and networks in order to ensure optimum, functional, secure and available facilities/ equipment for SABC Technology

    MAIN PURPOSE OF POSITION

    • Ability to setup and maintain the broadcast Windows Domain/s which includes the deployment of windows patches, Service Packs and the deployment of anti-virus software thereby mitigating the risk on the Broadcast.
    • The ability to tighten security with users and resources setting up policies and by isolating the broadcast network.
    • Ability to perform, plan, control and implement maintenance, modifications and installations of new and existing systems and technical equipment; hardware and software.
    • Ability to setup and manage LUNs in storage/backup technologies such as SAN, NAS, LTO etc.
    • Ability to plan and setup contingencies and apply back-up strategies and develop their implementations, within the digital environment to ensure quick recovery and reduced on-air failures, i.e. data backup and disaster recovery.
    • Apply the principles of trouble shooting for single user and multi-user computer operating systems.

    Senior Producer Continuity: RSG

    Main purpose of position

    • To manage and facilitate production and delivery of all continuity programming in line with the station’s programming strategy, programme briefs & deliverables, clients and audience needs.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Conceptualize programming and content ideas for a variety of programmes for multiple platforms (Traditional Platform/Radio and Digital Platforms).
    • Ensure briefing of on-air and production teams in line with the programming strategy and approved programme briefs.
    • Plan and execute production related elements in consultation with the Programmes Manager.
    • Monitor programmes to ensure delivery of high-quality product and consistency.
    • Facilitate team workshops and brainstorming sessions to ensure regular contribution in generation of new programming ideas.
    • Monitor new and existing programme elements in order to assess the need for change and make recommendations, using information such as audience surveys and feedback from listeners.
    • Communicate updates on the Presenter Style Guide, Music Policy, Schedules and Rosters, and all other relevant policies with Production and On-Air teams.
    • Coordinate and communicate programming activities between Programming and Marketing Division.
    • Research content in order to produce quality programmes to maintain audiences and grow target market.
    • Ensure adequate promotion of new content by facilitating the recording of promos and online marketing, in consultation with the relevant departments.
    • Monitor and review programming in order to ensure schedules are kept to, guidelines are adhered to, and performance is of adequate quality.
    • Investigate studio and system faults and ensure that they are reported and addressed.
    • Provide feedback on individual programmes and digital content offerings.
    • Ensure on-going and effective communication with external and internal content providers.
    • Facilitate booking of OBs in line with approved plans and schedules.
    • Monitor team’s contribution to updating of website content and podcasts delivery.
    • Ensure compliance to SABC policies and procedures.
    • Ensure adherence to the Editorial Code of Conduct, Broadcast Act, BCCSA Code and SABC Policies.
    • Development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and monitoring of implementation.
    • Ensure compliance with PFMA.
    • Ensure compliance with Copyrights law.
    • Provide monthly reports and project reports.
    • Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Attend meetings as defined by Standard Operating Procedures, SLA’s with support services, and by invitation of project leaders and clients.
    • Attend snoop sessions with production and on-air teams and provide feedback to improve the quality of end product.
    • Brainstorm and discuss story ideas, angles, and sources with the team.
    • Vetting and confirmation of content contributors for quality and credible content output.
    • Supervision and coaching of Production and on-air-teams.
    • Continuous communication with Management in order to provide red flags, progress reports, and receive authorization.
    • Consistent communication and feedback to Line Manager and to colleagues.
    • Sign-off to confirm IC worksheets to align with payment requests.
    • Monitor freelance budget expenditure in line with approved budgets and IC Agreements.

    Requirements:

    • National Diploma or Degree in Communication/Media Studies/Journalism/Technical Production or related field (NQF 6 Level)
    • 4 years in broadcasting environment of which 2 years must be in radio production.
    • Sound understanding of and experience in content production for the same or similar target audience.
    • Above average experience and knowledge of broadcasting production technology and digital media application.
    • Above average understanding of social media and digital needs of the target audience.
    • Proficiency in SABC’s Editorial Policy and BCCSA Code of Conduct and related legislation.
    • Above average proficiency of the English language (spoken and written) is essential.
    • Ability and willingness to work under pressure and on short notice.
    • Good research skills and ability to apply research information.
