    Technical Sales Representative

    What needs to be done?

    • Pursue sales leads, visit existing and new customers.
    • Assess customer needs and suggest appropriate products and services.
    • Respond to customer queries.
    • Negotiate prices and delivery times within limits of authority
    • Conclude sales orders to meet revenue targets.
    • Identify, research, and contact prospective customers and build positive relationships that will generate future sales and repeat business.
    • Refer sales leads, customer feedback and information on competitor activity to appropriate contacts within the organisation so that they can respond to changing market conditions and customer demands.
    • Establish annual, quarterly, monthly, or weekly sales plans and, prioritise and schedule own activities so these targets are met.
    • Assist the Accounts department on timely debt collections.​

    What do you need to bring? 

    • Degree or Diploma in Sales/ Marketing.
    • Engineering qualification would be advantageous.
    • 5 years relevant experience in sales or marketing within the gas and welding environment.
    • Product technical knowledge.
    • Be proactive, dynamic, self-motivated, aggressive and sales orientated

    Engineer in Training

    What needs to be done?

    • Spend time with the Engineering team to learn the basic aspects of retrofit selections and designs to be able to produce a fit-for-purpose end product per the Customer specifications.
    • Work with Senior Engineer to assess the condition of existing equipment and generate repair procedures and reports to produce a fit-for-purpose reconditioned product.
    • Assist in providing workable engineering solutions to problems experienced by both internal and external clients to ensure their needs are met.
    • Develop external client relationships to promote the Howden product range and with the view to introducing enhancements to existing equipment.
    • Be willing to develop the role of ‘vibration specialist’ as required in support of engineering tasks.
    • Draw up and maintain a register of repair procedure for workshop and site.
    • Assist workshop and Site staff with fault finding.
    • Assist with commissioning of plant.
    • Assist and draw up manufacturing process.
    • Perform alternative material selection based on application.
    • SOX Compliance: Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls.

    What do you need to bring? 

    • BEng/ BSc/ B-Tech in Mechanical Engineering including Project and Industrial placement modules.
    • Demonstrated potential (interview & engineering aptitude test).
    • Computer Literacy in MS package.
    • Competent in written and spoken communication.
    • Working knowledge of applicable software
    • Material / metallurgical knowledge
    • Develop personal confidence.
    • Eager to gain more experience in the application of the Howden product range.
    • Valid driver's license.

    Project Controls Manager

    What needs to be done?

    • Key Controls: Generating and forecasting a project cash flow profile. Establish the project master schedule. Development of the project implementation programme. Control forecast and optimise resource man-hours peak level to a manageable level (labour profiles). Perform risk analysis of project schedule and estimate. Development of work scope and packaging strategies. Develop commitment and expenditure cash flow curves. Develop project control procedures for inclusion in the project implementation manual as well as full implementation of project control systems. Confirm project staffing plan with organisational approach.
    • Project financial Management: The cost engineering function is essentially predictive, dealing with estimates and forecasts based on engineering drawings and specifications, and tracking work to completion.  Cost accounting is essentially retrospective and deals with work accomplished relative to the contractual terms and conditions and with the consequent invoices, cash requirements and payments. Manpower control employer costs and reimbursable costs will be monitored closely to ensure the budget is controlled and not exceeded. 
    • Project Change Control: A policy of no surprises is to be maintained.  Early identification of change is to be managed and channeled for approval.  A scope change register must be maintained at all times. The control of changes to the project scope is a critical area of the overall management and formal procedures relating to change control will be adopted for the project.  Submit change notices for Client approval whenever the project scope or schedule affects the planned performance of the services.  Change notices will be reviewed and discussed at regular intervals in the project life.  Revise the project budget and forecasts monthly to reflect approved changes.  The management of project scope changes will be conducted in accordance with the project change control procedure.
    • Project Control Systems: Utilise the most appropriate systems to complement the scope of works and management expectations.  It is envisaged that the main elements will include: Estimating System; Documentation control; Engineering progress; Cost management; Time management system; Three dimensional design; and Planning and scheduling systems – Primavera.
    • SOX Compliance: Adhere to Sarbanes Oxley and AX controls.

    What do you need to bring? 

    • BCom/National Diploma in related field (Management accounting / Cost accounting / Finance)
    • 5+ years related experience in a project environment.
    • Knowledge of ERP based financial reporting systems.
    • Advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel
    • Computer literate
    • Good communication skills (verbal, read and write)
    • Deadline driven and good analytical skills.
    • Ability to work under pressure
