    Facilities Manager

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

    • The Facilities Manager is responsible for ensuring that all facilities management, day-to-day building maintenance and other services, large-scale housekeeping, safety and security compliance and operations within the Zeitz MOCAA take place, coordinated, and managed effectively. This role involves leading, supervising and managing both in-house facilities staff and outsourced contractors.

    MAIN ACTIVITIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES

    The role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities including Occupational Health and Safety (OHS), ensuring that maintenance tasks follow the Operational Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) specified schedules, facilities management, building fabric, internal infrastructure, security systems (CCTV). Additionally, the individual will provide support with various administrative and management functions.

    • Oversee and manage building maintenance, cleanliness, and safety to ensure a well-functioning, safe, and efficient work environment
    • Ensure compliance with all building codes, regulations, and safety guidelines
    • Maintain and optimize building management systems to maximize energy efficiency and occupant comfort
    • Manage and monitor the HVAC system to ensure proper operation and optimal performance
    • Coordinate and oversee fire detection and emergency response procedures to ensure the safety of all occupants
    • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective maintenance and repairs
    • Implement and enforce OHSA guidelines and regulations to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE

    • Relevant Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in the Engineering or Built Environment Field (NQF Level 6) with appropriate experience or Artisan with minimum NTC3 (NQF Level 4/3)
    • A successful completion of an appropriate apprenticeship and recognised industry trade test
    • Certificate of training on the OSH Act.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management or related field
    • Strong knowledge of building management systems and HVAC systems
    • Ability to lead, manage a team and ensure work is delivered within the agreed timeframes and to the agreed standards
    • Experience with fire detection systems and emergency response procedures
    • Knowledge of OHSA regulations and guidelines
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Reliable transport
    • Required to work weekend and afterhours

    Managing Editor

    Purpose of the Role

    • The Managing Editor role reports to the Director of Institutional Advancement. Responsible for activities related to the conception and implementation of editorial, publishing, and written materials
    • The role manages and contributes to the creation and editing of written materials as well as publishing output generated by the museum’s Curatorial and other Departments.
    • This includes gathering, creation and editing of texts and copy for the museum including press releases, newsletters, crisis communications, annual report, exhibition key messaging, publications and website copy.

    Summary of Main Activities / Responsibilities

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive content strategy
    • Curatorial editorial and publishing
    • Research, organisational writing and editing management
    • Lead the overall publishing programme of the museum
    • Play and active role in the production, administration, and distribution of museum publication
    • Content creation and detailed proof editing
    • Stakeholder relations
    • Develop brand and editorial policy and guidelines
    • Communications and engagements
    • People leadership

    What you will need to be successful in the role

    • Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, the Arts or other relevant discipline, Communications, Marketing or related field, PR/Journalism/Political Science/Media Studies
    • Minimum of 3 years’ copy writing and editing experience within a cultural, museum context would be to an advantage
    • Excellent ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
    • Ability and experience in writing, copy editing academic/analytical texts and working knowledge of various writing format and citation styles (Oxford, Cambridge etc.)
    • Exceptional editing, proof reading and research skills
    • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage at all levels
    • Excellent planning organisational and time management skills
    • Strong ability to work with a calm demeanor when times of pressure and demonstrate resilience
    • Be highly creative and imaginative
    • Have strong emotional intelligence to engage with individuals and diverse teams
    • Ability to work independently and within a team
    • Deliver good quality and standard of work within the agreed timeframes
    • Good collaboration skills
