    Warehouse Manager

    Main Duties & Responsibilities:

    Strategic

    • Ensure extensive warehouse support to Epiroc as a whole.
    • Participate in overall strategy plan and development of the department. Understand the business strategy, the customers and our products to communicate and deploy the vision in a meaningful way into the department.
    • Constantly seek opportunities for improvement encompassing the areas of process, people and technology to drive service, in line with the strategy of the business.
    • Creating an environment, which drives ideas, personal development, product leadership, while demonstrating the behaviors associated with a role model and a leader. Responsible for coaching and developing staff to achieve high levels of performance individually and as a team.
    • Identify failing processes. Develop and implement new processes to eliminate non-conforming processes.
    • Determines the customer requirements by maintaining contact and building relationships with customers.
    • Develop and recommend appropriate instructions and procedures for the administration of the warehouse.
    • Implement, Monitor and continually improve the warehouse performance against set objectives.

    Supervisory functions

    • Manage site administrator and store assistants.
    • Ensure security in the warehouse area.
    • Ensure that the inventory in the warehouse is always secure.
    • Ensure that no unauthorized entry to warehouse.
    • Report all anomalies or suspicions to the Bathopele Contracts Manager and Operation Manager.

    Stock responsibility

    • Sign off monthly stock take/ annual stock takes and investigate any variances.
    • Manage staff in terms of receiving, storage and stock issuing.
    • Do stock counts in the form of daily cycle counts.
    • Assist with the national distribution of spares and equipment.
    • Assist with OSMI distribution/ return to Central Warehouse/ RDC Jet Park.
    • Control WIP.

    Reporting

    • Performance reporting in assigned KPI’s.
    • Monthly management reports.
    • Monitor cost and warehouse performance.

    People management

    • Manage staff performance and conduct annual performance appraisals and training needs analysis of warehouse employees.
    • Manage leave approvals, overtime, and standby for all warehouse personnel.
    • Contribute to a positive working environment where employees feel motivated.
    • Evaluate the performance and proficiency of personnel in the department and recommend staff for necessary training to improve skill levels.
    • Discipline staff when required.
    • Recruitment

    SHEQ Compliance

    • Manage Information Management System in terms of procedures, process reviews, updates and quality of packaging.
    • Ensure 6S/ housekeeping standards maintained.
    • Report incidents.
    • Comply with International Standards Organisation (ISO) certifications.
    • Corrective action requests.
    • Preventative action requests.
    • Prepare for audits.

    General

    • Maintain, implement and enforce departmental policies, procedures and processes to ensure compliance to corporate governance requirements and Group Internal Controls. Ensure departmental compliance to Company Policies & Procedures.
    • Carry out additional duties as may become necessary to ensure the successful operation of the company.
    • Will carry out any other function or duty as may be required in terms of the Epiroc Code of Conduct.

    Educational Qualifications and Experience:

    • Grade 12
    • Relevant Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain or Warehousing.
    • If no tertiary qualification, previous 10 years of experience in warehousing environment with at least 5 years managerial experience.
    • Valid Driver’s License.

    Required Skills and Capabilities:

    • Problem-solving skills.
    • Confidence, patience, politeness, tact and diplomacy, when dealing with difficult situations.
    • Motivational skills and an ability to supervise and lead a team of store assistants and site administrator.
    • An ability to work well under pressure.
    • Organizational and planning skills.
    • Good personal presentation, especially when working with customers face-to-face.
    • Knowledge of warehouse principles and practices.
    • Knowledge of warehouse management software, databases and CRM tools.
    • Computer literacy with thorough knowledge of Microsoft package (Word, Excel and PPT).
    • ERP knowledge.
    • Have a good understanding of how the Supply Chain is functioning i.t.o different functions, KPI’s, processes and flows.
