    Junior Surveyor

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct quality control and support activities within the MRM section.
    • Ensure adherence to legal compliance requirements.
    • Install survey pegs, direction lines, and side grades in stope panels and development ends.
    • Accurately measure stopping and development ends.
    • Compile comprehensive survey start, stopping, and holing notes.
    • Conduct standard workplace inspections and compliance checks.
    • Prepare, maintain, and update sketches, maps, and reports.
    • Assist in mine design and the creation of mine instructions for underground personnel.
    • Adhere strictly to MHSA standards and Gold One’s safety motto: “Nothing is so important that it cannot be done safely”.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Grade 11 or equivalent qualification.
    • C.O.M Elementary Mine Survey certificate.
    • Minimum of two years’ experience in underground surveying.
    • Proficiency in English and at least one other official language.
    • Sound knowledge of mine survey software and draughting techniques.
    • Proficiency in MS Excel and MineRP CAD.
    • Experience with Topcon total stations and GPS equipment.
    • Valid driver’s license and own transport.
    • Clear criminal record.
    • Declared fit by the Occupational Medical Practitioner (OMP) to work at heights and in confined spaces.

    Senior Safety Officer Mining

    Qualifying Criteria:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualifications
    • Recognized Blasting Certificate holder.
    • Shift Supervisor Certificate will be advantageous.
    • Both Conventional and Trackless Mining experience will be advantageous.
    • Minimum 5 years’ previous experience as Safety Officer, having worked in a underground trackless environment will be advantageous
    • Computer literacy (MS packages with emphasis on excel)
    • Must have good report writing skills.
    • Must be in position of COMSOC I & II
    • Knowledge and practical experience in SHE system implementation and auditing
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation, mine standards and procedures (ISO 45001)
    • Knowledge of Investigation and auditing systems
    • Knowledge of risk assessments and risk management
    • Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
    • Must have a valid driver's license.
    • South African Citizenship

    Responsibilities: 

    • Candidate must be self-driven and disciplined.
    • Conduct Health and Safety Audits in the workplace and give remedial actions where required.
    • Identify, analyse, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices.
    • Participate in the development of hazard control programmes.
    • Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of hazard control programmes.
    • Analyse incidents and no-conformances to identify deficiencies and contributing factors in the SHE management.
    • Facilitate investigations.
    • Facilitate and participate in SHE meetings.
    • Communicate and distribute standards and procedures to relevant stakeholders.
    • Perform all Heath and Safety related duties in general on the mine as per Gold One Group Limited standards.

    Aide Electrical

    Qualifying Criteria :

    • Must have a Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
    • Must be in possession of an Electrical Aide certificate
    • N2-N3 in Engineering relevant studies will be advantageous
    • 2-3 years’ electrical experience as an aide within a mining environment is essential.
    • Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
    • Independent judgment, initiative and interpersonal communication skills are essential
    • Demonstrate in depth knowledge of electrical tools, equipment, and accessories
    • Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces
    • Plant experience will be advantageous.
    • Must be a South African citizen
    • Must have a clear criminal record

    Responsibilities :

    • Functional support, quality control and best practices withing the Metallurgical Plant Electrical environment
    • Assist Electrician Artisans to carry out their duties efficiently and effectively by providing required support and assistance
    • Work independently with minimal supervision within a designated area of responsibility
    • Inspect, disassemble, reassemble, repair and maintain all minor components of electrical apparatus and equipment
    • Manage and maintain equipment within a designated area of responsibility in accordance with prescribed standards and best practices

    Geologist

    Qualifying Criteria:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF 4 qualifications
    • Degree in Geology, Honors degree in Geology preferred.
    • Professional affiliation to SACNASP
    • Minimum 4 years’ previous experience in an underground trackless environment
    • Computer literacy (MS packages with emphasis on Excel)
    • Proficiency in 3D modeling software will be advantageous (Leapfrog and Datamine)
    • Proficiency in ARCGIS will be advantageous
    • Experience in Database software use, such as MAXGEO (Datashed and Logchief)
    • Proficiency in CAD software but not limited to MineRPCAD and Microstation
    • Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
    • Must have a valid driver's license.
    • South African Citizenship
    • Clear Criminal Record

    Responsibilities:

    • Plan and execute geological mapping underground.
    • Proactively mitigate and communicate risks related to geological anomalies and continuously update Geology plans.
    • Implement and maintain applicable Safety regulations, Codes of Practice, and standards appropriate to Geological processes and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
    • Maintain and control Geological data for annual planning of ore reserves (Maps, models, layouts, cores, contours, etc.)

    Provide technical input into mine planning about geological structures, on-reef mining, grade, etc.

    • Effectively manage Geological information by updating the borehole database, communicating information to stakeholders (Production departments and Management), and providing advice in areas of responsibility
    • Monitor Geology-related activities inter alia underground drilling programmes, underground development & stope areas, and direction of haulages.
    • Monitor sampling coverage in the area of responsibility and make sure sampling intervals are acceptably maintained.
    • Monitor sample sheets generated and accurately calculate best practice cuts for different mining methods.
    • Maintain accurate measurement of Geological Losses and effective White Area Investigations to ensure the integrity of ore reserve estimation and extraction.
    • Conduct regular inspections within the area of control and ensure problems are addressed proactively with Production personnel and aligned with planning and work assignments.

    Compile written reports from Geology measurements and observations e.g. Geology summaries, structure maps, reef horizon management summaries, and project summaries detailing the impact of identified risks or opportunities.

    • Monitor and advise on data capturing to ensure compliance with organisational Best Practices.
    • Conduct and/or attend necessary meetings (Safety, Operations, HoD, Planning, Geology, Projects, ad-hoc, etc.) to ensure that performance issues are formally highlighted and addressed effectively.
    • Attend regular meetings with management and provide feedback on performance as well as receive instructions or work assignments.

    Complete all necessary administration regarding timesheets, material requisitions, permission booklet, feedback, and record-keeping required for the role.

    • Support the overall operational management of the department.
    • Identify opportunities to optimise operations and participate in improvement projects.
    • Keep abreast of new developments in Geology that can enhance operational performance.
    • Build effective relationships through respect and two-way communication
    • Identify potential conflict situations and mitigate the impact on the Geology team
    • Ensure that employees work in a safe and productive environment
    • Ensure that employees have clear work expectations and schedules to work according to

    Ventilation Officer

    Qualifying Criteria:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
    • Proficient in English and any other of the 11 official languages
    • Independent judgment, initiative, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
    • Practical Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
    • Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control
    • Advance Certificate in Mine Environmental Control will be advantageous.
    • 2-3 years’ experience as an underground Ventilation Officer
    • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Mine Ventilation & Occupational Hygiene
    • Professional Membership of the Mine Ventilation Society
    • Professional Membership of the South African Institute for Occupational Hygiene (SAIOH)
    • Must be a legal South African citizen.
    • Clear Criminal Record

    Responsibilities:

    • Apply technical knowledge and skills toward maintaining effective ventilation controls.
    • Responsible for measuring, recording, and reporting on ventilation and occupational hygiene conditions, monitoring dust, noise, thermal stress, gas, and water emissions.
    • Check and control ventilation equipment and instrumentation and promote the efficient use of this equipment.
    • Effectively administer data and information on the ventilation systems
    • Supervise the ventilation team and coordinate work schedules to ensure the equitable allocation of tasks.
    • Operational and Functional Control of the Ventilation construction team
    • Main Surface Fan Monitoring of pressures and efficiencies
    • Ensure adherence to the occupational hygiene management schedule by performing the work as per the schedule.
    • Order the required laboratory supplies and timeously ensure equipment & instruments are calibrated and control the budget allocated to this area.
    • Ensure that all Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines, and schedules.
    • Communicate and record ventilation information and changes to relevant stakeholders to minimise production delays during production time.
    • Continuously analyse mining ventilation efficiencies to recommend or implement improvements or changes to maximise mining operation.
    • Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective/sound communication system with the Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene Function.
    • Provide knowledge and advice to all levels of management to identify and resolve a wide range of Occupational Hygiene management systems and related interfacing issues.
    • Assist the Technical team with short and medium-term ventilation planning during LOM planning as well as model the ventilation network on Ventsim / VUMA.
    • Takes cognisance of and adheres to Company policies, procedures, and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non-compliance issues.
