    TMM Foreman

    Role Description
    Co-ordinate the maintenance activities to ensure effective maintenance according to organisational requirements and delegate tasks to subordinates to ensure safe installation, running and maintenance of equipment / TMM (Trackless Mobile Machinery & Track Bound) for optimum availability at the lowest cost. The role reports to the General Engineering Supervisor – TMM and will carry a 2.9.2 legal appointment

    Education and Experience Requirements

    • Grade 12 or N3 in the relevant field
    • Relevant Trade Certificate through a recognised institution and apprenticeship in one of the following trades (Diesel Mechanic/ Auto Electrician/ Fitter or Electrician).
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an appointed artisan on TMMs in the mining industry.
    • Diploma in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering (N6) will be advantageous.
    • Supervisory Development Programme or Leadership Development Programme or equivalent will be advantageous

    Job Requirements

    • Co-ordinate maintenance and monitor equipment availability to ensure adherence to production targets.
    • Responsible to perform preventative maintenance and scheduled legal inspections on equipment and machinery.
    • Co-ordinate or support the implementation of the operational requirements of the mines environmental policy and procedure.
    • Responsible to minimize down-time and evaluate risk (i.e. Root Cause Analysis) in the area of responsibility.
    • Execute and approve administrative tasks, including applicable systems (e.g. Modern Flow, ESS, X-Time).
    • Responsible to ensure spares availability as per the area of responsibility.
    • Perform standby duties and attend to breakdowns.
    • Comply with requirements of various protocols at Department and company level.
    • Responsible for investigating opportunities for improvement and developing, implementing, and controlling action plans to realize the improvements.
    • Oversee or facilitate the selection and utilization of technical support services and logistics to optimize operational processes.
    • Communicate equipment information and changes to relevant stakeholders to minimize production delays.
    • Responsible to oversee the testing of relevant systems and equipment in the area of responsibility.
    • Responsible to prioritize activities that are aligned to the requirements of other departments.
    • Reporting, Monitoring & Evaluation, Review: Ensure that all Engineering reporting is aligned with standards, guidelines, and schedules.
    • Implement risk assessments, Safe work procedures and Planned Task Observations, review, monitor, train, and implement all codes of practice, policies, procedures, risk assessments, and standards and ensure all are in place for the effective management of safe working conditions in terms of related area of responsibilities and legal requirements.
    • Company Policy & Procedures Compliance: Takes cognisance of and adheres to Company policies, procedures, and relevant legislation. Manage and report on non-compliance issues.
    • Engagement & Communication: Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective/sound communication system with the Engineering Function.
    • Responsible for the training and development of subordinates.
    • Allocate and organise the availability of resources (including consumables and raw materials) and regulate the utilisation of resources within the designated area of responsibility to ensure achievement of production targets.
    • Determine schedules, assign work, and manage the performance of assigned personnel to ensure the achievement of production targets.
    • Ensure the standard of maintenance work is achieved and preventing repeatable failures.

    Skills Required

    • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English
    • Sound planning, leading, and organisational abilities
    • Have knowledge to identify and prioritise critical tasks to be executed during planned shutdowns.
    • Have knowledge and skill in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, manuals, and drawings.
    • Sound Decision Making Skills
    • Valid Driver's Licence
    • Trackless Mining machinery and trackless mining best practices
    • Underground mining practices and related operations environment
    • Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation and standards applicable to underground mining
    • Understanding of the mechanised development cycle
    • Respond and attend to breakdowns timeously and effectively to ensure minimum downtime and production losses.
    • Knowledge of Mining systems
