    Senior Media Manager

    Job Purpose

    • The Senior Manager: Group Media will work alongside the Head of Group Media in leading internal and agency teams to progress Nedbank’s Media agenda and to ensure Nedbank’s effective media presence, audience reach, brand reputation management, and ROMI. 
    • The purpose of this role includes the management of the media team, partner agencies, and internal stakeholders in strategy, planning, execution, implementation, optimization, governance, performance analysis, and marketing funnel reporting of both offline and digital media initiatives. In addition to this, the Senior Manager: Group Media will be crucial in advancing Nedbank’s digital maturity, IQ, and skills. 

    Job Responsibilities

    Management, Leadership, Driving Media Excellence:

    • Help develop, maintain and manage a creative customer centric, data- led, and innovative media team and culture
    • Manage the group media team and associated partners in the day-to day management of offline and digital media plans including analyzing the relevant media channels and outlets, developing recommendations, execution details and budget guidelines
    • Deliver results by taking ownership and accountability for tasks and activities and demonstrate effective self-management
    • Monitor key expectations of stakeholders and partner with them for effective consolidations and to ensure value added results for the Group
    • Effectively support the Head of Group Media to substantiate the Group Media strategy by keeping abreast of new developments in media strategy, business planning and execution.
    • Stay abreast of media best practice, regulations, innovation, competitor activity, and overall marketing industry best practice; and demonstrate expertise indrawing actionable insights from ongoing performance analysis

    Campaign Management:

    • Oversee the relevant aspects of the campaign management process (briefing through to reporting) developed by the designated portfolio media/ performance managers and agencies
    • Lead and direct the development of data-led remarketing and retargeting strategies
    • Lead and direct the relevant media components of Nedbank's marketing effectiveness/ ROMI model in line with portfolio and business requirements
    • Lead and direct the development of media reporting and presentations, including presentations to all brand/ marketing committees, and executive leadership teams
    • Research, recommend, and implement new techniques, thought leadership, and technologies that will help deliver impactful media strategies, in the short and long-term strategic horizons
    • Own and drive the dialogue with all marketing leads and media partner agencies/ owners, on informed strategic media implications, and keenly understand stakeholder expectations
    • Develop productive relationship with Marketing, Commercial, Data, and CX teams to drive an effective paid, owned, earned, and shared ecosystem in the requisite aspects of the marketing funnel enterprises-wide

    Finance, Risk, Governance:

    • Develop, recommend and maintain Group Media budgets, ensuring adherence to all financial control processes and principle, and avoiding media clashes and wastage
    • Partner with procurement, finance and other stakeholders to manage the commercials of the media partner agencies, ensuring the effectiveness of media investments, and that all utilized media platforms ate compliant and in line with the brand safety requirements
    • Ensure adherence to the media principles and policies, and lead any future updates and revisions thereof
    • Implement media supplier transformation in line with the overall transformation agenda
    • Drive Group Media performance against targets set for legal and regulatory compliance, risk management, internal audit, market conduct and other business process obligations
    • Create, promote, and maintain a culture of operational risk awareness and accountability withing the group media team, including the timely resolution of internal and external audit issues
    • Proactively identify threats and opportunities to improve the risk and control environment through analysis of risk information, and ensure the adequacy and effective\ness of identified controls to prevent risk materializing
    • Lead the first, second- and third-party data agenda for group media, ensuring that all use and proof of concept (POC's) are in line with Nedbank's governance, compliance, security, and risk policies and procedures

    Requirements and Qualifications

    • Previous work experience leading a media team, working within a marketing environment 
    • Relevant post graduate qualification will be advantageous 
    • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Communications, Media, or Marketing (essential)
    • Industry certification, membership, and registration will be advantageous
    • Experience and a big passion for marketing/ advertising/ media innovation and channels
    • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and leadership skills 
    • Outstanding organisational, time management skills, and attention to detail
    • A results-driven approach to marketing initiatives

    Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

    • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
    • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

    Preferred Qualification

    • Relevant post graduate qualification or experience
    • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Communications, Media or Marketing (essential)

    Minimum Experience Level

    • 8 - 10 years’ experience working within a Marketing environment with emphasis on Media Management including Digital, offline Media and Performance Marketing (essential.
    • Previous Media and Advertising experience building effective integrated campaigns.
    • Currently in a Senior role managing a team
    • Stakeholder management and existing relationships with key media industry experts and stakeholders
