    Section Leader - Durban

    Job Specification:

    Key Performance Areas:

    Health, Safety and Environment

    • Adhere to, and ensure compliance by staff members to the company safety policies and procedures
    • Assist with attainment and maintenance of relevant health, safety and environmental management system standards for processing
    • Ensure facilities and infrastructure are conducive to employee health and wellness
    • Report unsafe working conditions

    Food Safety

    • Adhere to, and ensure compliance by subordinates to FSSC 22000, AIB and ISO principles.
    • Ensure site infrastructure and equipment are installed and maintained so that Food Safety is not compromised.
    • Housekeeping, GMP and environmental compliance and related activities must adhere to relevant standards
    • Sensory Evaluation

    Logistics

    • Establish a visual of workplace place area
    • Daily/ weekly stocks counts are completed and verified
    • Assist with site quarterly and yearly stock counts
    • Batch control of blended stock
    • Conduct and communicate department performance at daily meeting
    • Motivate and train all employees within the department
    • Ensure that the daily and weekly blending requirements are communicated to the team
    • Ensure people, material and machine resources are available to meet blending requirements
    • Train the team members in new processes and technology when the need arises
    • Daily planning of the rework department and submission of samples for approvals
    • Generate non-conformance and work request
    • Labour utilisation
    • Cost managed within the departmental budget
    • Inventory Management
    • Driving rides in the absence of employees or when the need arises
    • Operate blender as and when required
    • Maintain the condition of Pallet truck equipment
    • Understand the tea blending process from blending, packaging, and dispatch

    Systems and reporting

    • Scheduling of employee hours using Best Time
    • Absenteeism reports sent to HR on a daily basis
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant procedures.
    • Generate non-conformance & works request

    Management

    • Lead team in initiating changes on SOP’s and standards relating to Blend Floor using Change Management processes
    • Conflict Management – lead in resolving employee complaints, dispute resolution, resolving grievances, initiating disciplinary inquiries, managing poor work performance, and liaising with HR on issues relating to Employment and Labour
    • Refer team members to EAP when the need arises
    • Partner with the Logistics Manager in updating and implementing of skills matrix as well as coordinating of training
    • Assist in the recruitment and selection of team members
    • Plan and control Blend Floor tasks; allocate resources to activities; control labor scheduling; overtime and cost control for area of responsibility.
    • Planning, scheduling, monitoring, and evaluating of plant performance using to Shopware
    • Assist in the supervision of the Raw materials stores department in the absence of the Section Leader

    Minimum Requirements:

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum Grade 12 with a Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Warehouse Management or Production Management

    Experience:

    • 2 years working experience as Supervisor with a storage facility
    • Industrial relations experience at supervisor level
    • FMCG experience
    • Computer literate (MS Office) Excel advance
    • Quality Management System
    • Manufacturing system – SAP high level competency required
    • Basic Industrial Relations
    • Knowledge of Inventory Management Processes and Systems
    • Good communication skills
    • Analytical skills
    • Leadership skills
    • Problem Solving skills

    Additional Requirements:

    • Be able to work shifts/ overtime when required
