Our client, a giant global telco company, is looking for a Principal Data Scientist for their newly launched products. The ideal candidate has strong Data Modelling experience. The Headquarter is in Johannesburg. This position is remote.

As a Principal Data Scientist (Financial Services) you will help deliver actionable insights through analyses of big data from unrelated sources.

Requirements

The ideal candidate for this role should have:

• A minimum of 7 years experience as a data scientist

• Extensive experience in Data Modelling

• Experience in Leading Organisation Culture and Change

• A Strategic Mindset

• Experience in Data Visualisation

• Experience in Data Analytics and Insights

• Experience in Data Management and Transformation

• Experience in AI - Deep and Machine Learning

Your responsibilities will include:

• Develops and delivers key predictive models, statistical models and machine learning-based tools and supports senior managers in the delivery of data science solutions for complex commercial requirements

• Ensures Big Data solutions comply with data privacy laws

• Provides deep technical analytical and data expertise to the business and other Data Scientists, using a wide variety of available data, to solve complex business problems

• Manages the delivery of key packages of work, to time, budget and legislation, in a collaborative manner to meet the needs of business customers

• Monitors and optimizes performance of developed models by driving experiments, benchmarking, etc

• Uses a variety of datasets to test hypotheses, discover hidden relationships and provide actionable insights

• Uses data visualisation to engage audience in a compelling way, enabling effective storytelling

• Maintains strong relations and interacts closely with stakeholders across the business to advise and help solve complex problems

• Demonstrates strong communication skills, influencing the exchange of ideas and information in a concise and logical way to reach the desired solutions

• Uses best practice knowledge to provide thought leadership that supports modelling techniques, algorithms and being able to tune, modify and implement changes to address different business problems / questions

• May provide informal guidance to junior members of the team
