    Manager - Treasury & Credits

    • Responsible for the source, arrangement and execution of short term and long term credit facilities for local and US dollar borrowing. Work with Glencore Treasury to ensure all policies and global requirements for facilities are complied with as well as local Federal Insurance Contributions Act requirements.

    Financial Perspective

    • Responsible for the source, arrangement and execution of short term and long term credit facilities for local and US dollar borrowing. Work with Glencore Treasury to ensure all policies and global requirements for facilities are complied with as well as local Federal Insurance Contributions Act requirements.
    • Executing and signing of all bank agreements ensuring in line with compliance and Corporate Treasury.
    • Perform cash forecasting for the operations in South Africa and Botswana (daily, short term and medium term). Review variance between actual and forecasted cash position. Manage bank balances. Maintain security over electronic cash management systems.
    • Manage foreign exchange exposure by monitoring and reviewing effectiveness of FX hedging strategy with support from Corporate Treasury. Execute foreign exchange transactions with banks. Assist Global Treasury with currency exposure exercises for South Africa & Botswana. Broad understanding of Exchange Control regulations as they pertain to the geographical entities in central and southern Africa and maintaining exchange control compliance with the South African Reserve Bank. Reporting on exports and imports to South African Reserve Bank.
    • Manage Southern African and offshore banking relationships for the company within guidelines set by Corporate Treasury
    • Manage the preparation and transmission of all confirmation letters to banks, make settlements on due dates, perform accounting and account reconciliations for treasury related transactions.
    • Analyze and evaluate corporate financing proposals and financial agenda items in support of Business Units and the legal entities and carry out special projects as assigned. Ensure business compliance by acting as the conduit for contact with financial institutions, insurance providers and Global Treasury.
    • Process calculations for dividend declarations and drive approvals for remittance of these dividends for Southern African countries and equity partners.
    • Manage bank Reconciliation process ensuring that cash collections are fully updated to accurately reflect customer payments to assist in the optimization of Credit Metrics. Maintain un-cleared items on the reconciliation within acceptable parameters.

    Customer Perspective

    • Continually strives for process efficiencies and innovative credit solutions to support Sales teams in profitably growing sales volumes within acceptable credit risk tolerance
    • Responsible for evaluating credit risk, determining credit lines and security requirements for accounts over direct reports’ Delegation of Authority as well as dealing with complex and high-level credit related matters for Trade and Other than Trade receivables
    • Gatekeeper for issuing of Letters of credit, bank guarantees and other trade financing instruments

    Internal Processes

    • Astron Energy Risk Champion responsible for the roll out and facilitation of the ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) program, providing support to ERM stakeholders and being responsible for ERM reporting
    • Primary in-country contact for all insurance related matters, including policy renewals, claim administration and review of insurance clauses for 3rd party contracts
    • Act as finance representative on selected projects and strategic initiatives
    • Member of the Procurement Committee
    • Member of the GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance) EXCO subcommittee
    • Employer Trustee of the Provident Fund, Pension Fund and Investment Subcommittee
    • Signatory as per General Authority Resolution
    • Review and management of internal Treasury and Credit policies, initiatives and best practices.
    • Ensures a strong internal control environment is maintained in line with agreed control procedures
    • Ensures a strong business contingency plan is in place and has been tested for the department

    People Management

    • Provides work direction to 2 direct reports plus oversight support to staff within the Credits, Treasury and ERM teams.
    • Completes Performance Management Process, salary administration, and career development for team members
    • Key member of the CFO Leadership team

    Professional Qualification and Certifications:

    • Business Administration/Management, or other tertiary qualification preferably including financial accounting.

    Work Experience:

    • Prior experience (5- 10 years) within a senior finance management role is highly preferred

    Knowledge and skills:

    • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Electronic Mail and Calendar, and Projects)
    • Knowledge of SAP S4 Hana
    • Ability to work under pressure, working to tight deadlines and independently manage a number of conflicting priorities, as well as be able to switch priorities at short notice (essential)
    • Strong initiative and ability to think and work independently and deliver creative and innovative solutions (essential)
    • Strong Planning and organizing skills (critical)
    • Strong Customer relationships and interactions / collaboration skills (critical)
    • Understanding of mechanics relating to trade financing and credit security instruments (essential)
    • Strong communication skills and ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders on varying levels of seniority including executive level (critical)
    • Fully conversant with IFRS standards and other regulatory standards relating to Credits and Treasury functions (preferred)
    • Demonstrate a firm grasp of the key commercial considerations, as well as an ability to weigh up customer value propositions and make recommendations as appropriate (essential)
    • Excellent analytic ability to understand and anticipate credit risks (essential)
