    Head: Business Development

    Responsible for business development focusing on new verticals and partnerships. Focus on playing a role in the success of the organization business expansion, the formation of strategic partnerships, and increased profitability in new digital product areas.

    Job Responsibilities    
    The Business Development Manager will be responsible for the following: -

    Organise

    • Develop and manage the business development strategy to ensure growth and development of new digital products.
    • Plan the execution of the business development strategy to maximise impact with scarce resources.
    • Define the process to transfer the operational aspects of the digital products the relevant business unit, once the required growth KPIs have been achieved.

    Research

    • Be aware of new market opportunities, possibilities for expansion, competitor developments, and the current sources of the company's revenue. Identify new business opportunities, identify new markets, new partnerships, new ways to reach existing markets, or new product or service offerings to better meet the needs of existing markets.

    Execute

    • Responsible for developing digital products business cases.
    • In conjunction with procurement negotiate product pricing on new digital products and partnerships, helping the organization maximize its profits on new digital product offerings and partnerships.
    • Coordinate resources and engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment across the whole team and organisation.
    • Follow up new business opportunities and setting up meetings and communicating new product developments to prospective partners/ clients.
    • Ensure legislative compliance and corporate governance.
    • Responsible for following up on and maintaining effective, productive, and harmonious relationships with partners.
    • Perform business case evaluations and review previous investment business case decisions and the thought process of making the decision.

    Handover

    • Transfer day-to-day responsibility to business units once the desired KPIs have been achieved.

    Qualifications    

    • 3-year Degree (NQF level 7) preferably in financial management, business management or equivalent. A postgraduate qualification (NQF level 8) will be preferable; e.g. Postgraduate diploma/ Masters.

    Experience    

    • 8 years experience in a business development role, of which at least 3 years on senior management level. Working at tactical and operational levels and providing input into product strategy and business planning.

    Special Requirements    

    • Proven leadership in business development.
    • Experience working on projects with cross functional teams in an agile environment.
    • Experience managing projects involving cross-functional teams with multiple stakeholders that include both industry and start-ups.
