    Profit Analyst ( 6 Month Contract )

    Introduction

    • To assist the BU Financial Manager with providing the business with a sound system of performance management that is aligned with the achievement of companywide financial goals and balanced scorecard. To optimize the ongoing and sustainable profit performance of the decision by providing the necessary decision-making framework and support.

    Job description

    • Assist the BU Financial Manager with effective planning in the form of an annual budgeting which is regularly updated with a forecast. Liaise with the BU stakeholders to provide accurate, consolidate budgets and forecasts for the BU.
    • Budget & forecast variances are analysed and recommendations are made to correct or improve BU performance. 
    • In-depth analysis is performed on key financial risk / opportunity areas in the business. The financial levers are understood and communicated to the business together with clear recommendations.
    • Key business initiatives are reviewed to ensure that they meet the required returns. Support is provided to the BU to present these cases to the Investment Committee. Implementation is reviewed to ensure delivery of benefits.
    • Assist the Business Unit Financial Manager with expense reports and variance analyses on BU cost centres.  Identify cost management opportunities – processes or expenses - for ensuring a sound return for shareholders and make recommendations on how these should be dealt with.
    • Make an effective and positive contribution to the Business unit in the execution of its strategy and in its performance, and to be recognised as such by the BU leadership team.
    • Play an effective role in the broader Finance team and the Planning and Performance team to ensure the combined delivery of the Finance strategy.

    Minimum requirements

    • Relevant Financial qualification – B.Comm or CA (SA) or equivalent EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
    • CA (SA): 2-3 years commercial experience (if CA, then post qualifying experience)
    • Advanced Excel experience

    Assortment Planner - Fresh

    Introduction

    • Translate the category strategy and create an optimal assortment based on customer demand to deliver improved customer satisfaction and optimized profit.

    Job description

    • Manage the day-to-day Assortment Process to ensure the category strategy is reflected in the assortments per role of store.
    • Be a key contributor to the end-to-end range review process.
    • Integrate with Buyer and Planner to understand the impact of the ILC.
    • Provide input into the clustering recommendations for the categories and make recommendations to the relevant stakeholders.
    • Understand the key strategic drivers for the category and turn them into effective and profitable assortment tactics.
    • Optimize the input parameters that drive Assortment Optimization (AO) as required which includes the types and accuracy standards of data required to allow AO to run effectively.
    • Advise category team members on the best way to achieve the best results from the AO system.
    • Conduct Impact Assessments
    • Tap into the skillset of the Centre of Excellence team (COE) to stay abreast of leading assortment thinking and techniques.
    • Attend all relevant training and meetings to ensure that new ways of assortment planning are incorporated into your ways of working.

    Minimum requirements

    • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant Retail / FMCG experience
    • Relevant tertiary degree or qualification
    • Great understanding of the merchandising industry and good customer knowledge
    • Strategic and highly analytical thinking
    • Strong commercial acumen and credibility
    • Strong assortment planning skills with high ability to integrate
    • Project management and process thinking skills
    • Ability to influence others, build and sustain relationships across functional teams
    • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
    • Strong Retail / Commercial experience, preferable in Foods
    • Previous retail management experience in the fields of assortment, range and merchandising with a large global retailer (Supermarket retail experience preferred)
    • Good buying, planning or assortment planning experience (at least 3 years) within foods retailing
    • Understanding and analysis of current & future techniques and trends
    • Trend Analysis, the ability to analysis and review of past / historical information
    • Some knowledge and understanding of consumer shopping habits; competitor activity and market players in the retail sector; consumer demographics
    • The ability to analyse, interpret and optimize KPI's relevant to assortment plans       
    • Range & Catalogue Management, the understanding of range construction, analysis and optimizing performance
    • Understand themselves and the impact they have on the people they interact with and the organisation culture and adjust their behavior accordingly.
    • Plays a leading role in driving sustainable transformational initiatives at a BU level and/or Group level, and
    • Is recognised by the leadership, peers and reports as competent and can hold their own with colleagues in their field.

    Buyer: Dairy (24 Month Contract)

    • Key responsibility with the end-2-end management of the Dairy Department.
    • Drive market share and profitability of the category.
    • Give input to Category and Supplier strategies.
    • Delivery of the Dairy category development strategy across the stakeholders.
    • Submit weekly Dairy Procurement Plans to meet WW Foods requirements.
    • Implement & Manage supplier Open Book Costing Models.
    • Manage financial indicators and all expenses.
    • Manage Supplier Category Growth Funds.
    • Develop and implement pricing and promotional strategies.
    • Input into the NPD process, considering product and price tiers as well as commercial KPI’s.
    • Manage & Develop Promo plans as well as review promo strategies.
    • Give input to the planning and forecasting of products and ranges.
    • Build and manage relationships with a diverse range of suppliers / team members.
    • Integrate with Marketing, Sales Management, and Assortment & Space to maximize sales and promotions in stores.
    • Liaise with Distribution regarding Supply Chain issues.
    • Monitor and react to industry and international trends.

    Minimum requirements

    • Finance or Management / Costing Accounting background with strong Excel skills.
    • Category management experience.
    • Clear understanding of margin, GP mechanics and influencing factors.
    • Proactive & Innovative (energy) with a continuous improvement mindset will be vital.
    • Procurement & Buying experience within a retail, FMCG environment or Dairy / Agriculture industry experience – knowledge of store operations, customer profiles, locations & competitors.
    • A minimum of 5 years in Buying or Retail experience.
    • Technical understanding of the Dairy category is advantageous.
    • Proven sourcing and supplier management experience.
    • Commercial skills and experience.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain concepts, processes, and systems.
    • Understanding of factors influencing a product’s cost and selling prices.
    • Proven ability to co-ordinate and deliver the category operating plan.
    • Strong integrator across a Matrix Team with proven leadership skills and people management skills, as well as the ability to coach and mentor junior team members.
    • Strong negotiation and financial management skills.
