    Data Analytics Officer

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Systematic collection and preparation of data:
    • Coordinate the collection of data from all offering and activities of the ECPs using clickUP, LCM, HEDA and other data collection systems used by the university by supporting staff at the early stages of their data collection planning process;
    • Clean and prepare all collected data for reporting purposes;
    • Generate necessary secondary data emanating from the all offering and activities around ECPs;
    • Support the Head of Community Engagement, Research and Postgraduate Studies (HoCERPGs) in developing and documenting historical data and community engagements dates using CETMS;
    • Strengthen the Data Analytics Capability of the Foundation Programmes / ECP’s:
    • Clean and prepare all collected data for reporting purposes;
    • Maintain the data analytics dashboards/report pages for Mamelodi Campus staff;
    • Have an oversight over all automated processes that support dashboards and operations;
    • Attend to the implementation of new system requirements and update current functionalities when needed;
    • Ensure analyses according to the university reporting cycles;
    • Support the Head of Academic Programmes (HoAPs) in advancing the data analytics capabilities within the ECPs;
    • Assist the Head of Academic Programmes in supporting the campus online learning agenda through providing clickUP and dashboards-related training where needed;
    • Research and support activities:
    • Assist the Director, HoAPs and HoCERPGs in writing appropriate contributions to research and management work in line with research unit outputs;
    • Document the processes that supports the CETMS and keep it updated;
    • Support research by providing data collection and analysis services to ensure success of ECPs students;
    • Turnaround strategy:
    • Perform analysis and background studies on the performance of the students in the ECPs;
    • Generate and provide reports on the ECPs in line with the proposals;
    • Customise the Pyramid dashboard for managing and evaluating the Turnaround Strategy;
    • Identify gaps in the data collected to support the proposals;
    • Provide assistance with the implementation activities as identified in the turnaround strategies.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • A Bachelor of Science degree; a Bachelor of Information Technology/Science; or a Bachelor of Commerce in Informatics (Information Systems);

    WITH

    Two years’ experience in:

    • Working with data;
    • An academic environment and development of E-learning material;
    • The development of online tools.

    • Development of e-learning material;
    • Data analytics and management;

    • Infographics;
    • Automation (Robotic Process Automation);
    • Python programming;
    • SQL;
    • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript;
    • Demonstrate solid interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, and establish and sustain good working relationships with staff, students, visitors, national and international partners and service providers;
    • Take initiative, i.e. seek new opportunities and take accountability to deliver results;
    • Be flexible, i.e. demonstrate the ability to adapt to, and work effectively in a diverse set of situations, with individuals and groups;
    • Portray a positive image of the Campus and the University of Pretoria;
