    Scope Of Responsibility

    • Responsible for effectively managing all functions of transportation and warehousing operations, and developing collaborative partnerships with both CP colleagues and customers.
    • Deliver the agreed to business results while maintaining positive employee relations. The primary accountabilities of the role include subsidiary Logistics financial performance, quality, EOHS, Labour Relations, people and organization development, and maintaining strong community relations, and they are a significant driver to customer service
    • The Logistics Manager is an effective and valuable member of the local management team, to ensure delivery of subsidiary business results. The Logistics Manager is responsible for providing superior warehousing and delivery capabilities to the subsidiary.
    • As one of the visible CP representative of the site, the Logistics Manager also assumes a key role in developing mutually beneficial relationships with the local community, customers, and regulatory agencies.

    ACTIVITIES OF THE JOB HOLDER

    • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the Logistics Functions.
    • Able to develop and maintain logistics best practices that deliver superior customer service while meeting budget expectations.
    • Accountable for the Customer Service
    • Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and working with the entire Supply Chain and Sales organizations to maximize results.
    • Accountable for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Logistics Operating Budget inclusive of all Transportation and Warehousing costs. Lead efforts to optimize Transportation and Warehousing costs.
    • Lead efforts to evaluate alternative Supply Chain networks that optimize cost and service objectives while considering changes in business and customer profiles.
    • Attend Key Account “Top to Top” Meetings when necessary and present CS & Logistics performance and strategies.
    • Work with systems support personnel to ensure greater utilization of SAP throughout the Customer Service & Logistics organization.

    FUNCTION - SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

    • Customer Service and Logistics
    • Achieves customer-focused Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) by balancing customer service and distribution costs
    • Understands Supply Chain constraints such as product release, manufacturing, distribution, and customer requirements
    • Grasps the business processes and SAP systems that optimize finished goods replenishment
    • Applies the fundamentals of pull systems, inventory control, and cycle time reduction
    • Collaborates to develop and negotiate warehousing and transportation contracts
    • Understands the drivers of Demand Management
    • Adopts best practices for improving sales forecast accuracy
    • Develops sourcing solutions using analytical, financial, and negotiation skills
    • Ability to put together Warehousing and distribution budgets & fully responsible & accountable to manage these budgets.
    • Ensures the Implementation of EOHS regulations and standards in warehouses and distribution centers (DC's)
    • Knows and uses the Recovery and Recall procedure
    • Managing Materials And Services
    • Understands the relationship planning, logistics, and manufacturing processes have on material and conversion cost.
    • Understands pull systems relating to material and service replenishment Knows how to develop strategic supply chain goals and engage the workforce in achieving those goals
    • Understands manufacturing capabilities/constraints as they relate to logistics requirements.
    • Knows the handling and storage requirements for finished goods.
    • Promotes safety awareness and safe behaviour
    • Executes strategies that deal effectively with operating issues related to labour relations
    • Develops contingency plans and strategies for any business interruption
    • Fully understands SAP interfaces with other 3PL systems where required
    • Continuous Improvement
    • Seeks input from internal and external customers about their needs and expectations to continually improve Logistics.
    • Exploits data and information to identify and measure potential improvements
    • Understands the linkages among supply/demand KPIs and the impact of CI tools on those KPIs
    • Facilitates sharing of ideas, knowledge, and best practices to improve Logistics processes and solve problems
    • Works to standardize best practices around Customer Service and Logistics
    • EOHS And Quality Leadership
    • Leads by example and demands safe behaviours and awareness, sound environmental practices and commitment to Quality
    • Understands own role and responsibility as well as that of others in implementing EOHS and Quality standards and guidelines
    • Communicates the need for and impact of EOHS and Quality standards
    • Establishes effective strategies for implementation of EOHS and Quality standards and regulatory conformance
    • Recognizes and acknowledges EOHS and Quality performance in sites and individuals
    • Takes corrective actions in a timely manner to mitigate potential EOHS or Quality incidents
    • Abides by facility safety and GMP requirements and sets the example
    • Proactive in self-assessing against corporate EOHS and Quality standards and governmental regulations
    • Provides appropriate resources to achieve expected levels of EOHS and Quality performance


    Education, Experience, Knowledge And Skills

    EDUCATION

    • Tertiary qualification, specializing in Logistics Management
    • SAP Knowledge / Mainframe and Microsoft Knowledge / 3PL interface systems

    Experience

    • FMCG Business Experience / Inventory and Distribution Experience

    Knowledge And Skills

    • Mainframe / Microsoft (Excel) Knowledge / SAP Knowledge (MM, SD) / Depot Replenishment Knowledge / Distribution Knowledge / Communication skills/ Good decision making based on experience and facts
