Brief Job Description

Old Mutual Emerging Markets Balance Sheet Management is seeking an energetic and suitably qualified Junior Investment Analyst to join the Shareholder Portfolio Management and Credit Risk team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing and monitoring the investment strategies, and understanding the risk, return and capital calculations for new and existing investments. The role requires excellent analytical skills, an understanding of the operational environment of an asset manager, and the ability to interact effectively with people at all levels of the organisation across Africa.

KRA's

• Setting and monitoring of investment mandates and investment performance, including setting benchmarks and performance targets, setting risk limits and assisting with negotiating asset management fees;
• Performing supporting analytics to assist in the evaluation of new investment opportunities;
• Ongoing market surveillance of investment opportunities locally, across Africa and abroad;
• Assisting with asset manager due diligence, selection, and monitoring;
• Providing regular input and compiling reports for internal investment committees;
• Working with the Old Mutual Investment Group (OMIG) on strategic investment initiatives in order to enhance return on capital outcomes for Shareholders;
• Ongoing research into investment industry developments and portfolio structuring techniques;
• Providing investment guidance and mandate support to other African business units.

Job Requirements

• Candidates should have suitable financial qualifications (CA, actuary, CFA, or suitable equivalent)
• At least 1-2 years’ relevant investment work experience
• Excellent analytical skills;
• Appreciation of the tax, legislative and capital regulatory environment within which Old Mutual’s operates
