    Public Sector Commercial and Procurement Manager: Africa

    Job Description

    Experienced professional with strong commercial acumen and knowledge and experience of public sector procurement processes and laws. Proactively sources public tender opportunities and fully manages the bid process from end-to-end, focusing on maximizing sales success within a fully compliant system

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the proactive sourcing of publicly available tenders, and the development of internal processes, to ensure as an ongoing business capability and including the registration of the business’ legal entities with requisite public sector bodies
    • Ensure due process in the registration of Thomson Reuters local entities across relevant public procurement marketplaces, and with local “registries” required for eligibility to bid for public tenders
    • Review and seek legal advice on tender documentation and process approach Advise the Head of Governments on go/no-go decisions regarding the submission of tenders/bids, or submission of more general proposals for government business opportunities
    • Evaluate the feasibility and strategic value of opportunities, liaising with regional stakeholders, central business units and corporate functions
    • Proactively define and enable best practice in the development of business with public sector entities
    • Participate in, and advise on, commercial negotiation processes related to public sector entities
    • Develop clearly defined and robust assessment criteria for public sector tender opportunities at the regional level, enabling the pursuit and delivery of opportunities in a compliant manner
    • Work with Head of Governments, Proposal Writer, and/or Legal Counsel to inform go/no-go decision processes, craft appropriate and compelling bids/proposals, and ensure adherence to due process throughout lifecycle of bids/proposals
    • Allocate appropriate proposition, subject matter, content, technology, commercial and/or finance expertise on bid/proposal opportunities to ensure effective, efficient and timely submission in a compliant manner
    • Report on progress of bids/proposals in pipeline, clarifying progress to stakeholders in region, GGO and in central BUs

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors Degree in Economics/ Business/ Law/ Politics/ Media
    • 3+ years experience in consulting, marketing and/or bid/project management and procurement within the public sector
    • Experience in the development of bids and proposals to public sector financial, legal, professional services and/or education sectors
    • Extensive experience in government/public sector tender processes, and strong subject matter expertise covering critical local public procurement legislation and processes
    • Demonstrable subject matter expertise in procurement law and processes across defined scope of regional market
    • Prior experience of technology/content/software markets beneficial
    • Experience of public sector proposal management in the local market is strongly preferred
    • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a track record of building long-term relationships with internal/external stakeholders
    • Must be comfortable working closely with senior regional management, and have a track record of success in working as part of a collaborative team in an organized and results-oriented manner
    • Proven track record of strong analytical and financial modeling skills, and track record in project managing complex tender processes, and an ability to work diligently to deadlines

    Solutions Specialist - eFX & Transactions

    Job Description

    Role Purpose

    An exciting opportunity exists within the Thomson Reuters Treasury & Solution Sales Specialist Team. This position is responsible for developing the FX Transactions business across Sub-Saharan Africa. The individual will grow revenue by identifying, prospecting and signing clients to our Transactions product suit, capturing trading volume earned by understanding the clients’ needs and leveraging our solutions to meet their daily requirements. Often acting as a member of the account team, the individual develops and executes account strategy for Transaction growth collaborating with account teams and/or other business units to deliver a comprehensive product offering to meet overall customer needs. The Specialist builds strong relationships with clients and aims to ensure clients derive maximum value from the Thomson Reuters product suite.

    Responsibilities

    • Expert in customer FX workflow and in Thomson Reuter’s products including content and technology, providing domain expertise relative to the eFX proposition
    • Identify, prospect and target trading desks with our liquidity offerings.
    • On board and drive volumes with major liquidity providers and buy side banks and corporate clients
    • Assist with prospect qualification, conduct demos and workshops, and manage the whole BMP (Bid Management Process) as well as coordinate Thomson Reuter’s responses to RFIs/RFPs
    • Work together with Solutions Sales and Account Teams ensuring that solutions provided meet customer expectations
    • Participate in developing regional and account strategies with Account Managers
    • Keep clients updated on Thomson Reuters solutions and product roadmaps and ascertain potential prospects for future sales
    • Develop customer relationships at appropriate level to become a trusted business advisor
    • Delivering market relevant campaigns and achieving high levels of quality client engagement
    • The Specialist will set the standard within Thomson Reuters and will be recognized as a “go-to” resource for information about products and content
    • Creating and maintaining accurate contact and activity records in the CRM system
    • Completing required certification programs

    The Successful Candidate Should Be Able To Demonstrate

    Essential Professional Skills & Competencies

    • Deep domain knowledge of FX and Electronic trading
    • A working knowledge of key players, trends and challenges within the FX world, including issues relevant to the eFX business
    • Strong understanding of electronic trading uses and existing offerings
    • An understanding of, and be able to discuss practical issues relating to liquidity aggregation, and distribution, with stakeholders from clients across a range of sophistication levels
    • An understanding of the issues facing banks when making choices about hosting, co-location and how to minimize latency
    • An understanding of the challenges specific to pricing African currencies, and managing associated risk
    • Technical awareness of API feeds, STP, and integration protocols
    • A good understanding of the changes within the regulatory environment and how this would affect players
    • An existing network within key financial institutions in Sub-Saharan Africa
    • A proven track record of building consultative and trusting relationships with clients to develop the business relationship
    • Strong selling and presentation skills (identity, develop and articulate a complex proposition/consultative selling)
