    Professional Nurse

    MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

    To manage the people and operations in the Centralised Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) to ensure that adequate, functional and sterile equipment and instrument sets are provided to theatre and other departments in the hospital.

    To ensure a safe, positive patient experience by supporting the unit manager in the co-ordination of patient care and management of the unit

    KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

    • Ensure comprehensive and safe patient care by mitigating risks and meeting set clinical quality standards

    • Manage the patient experience
    • Ensure optimal supply, retention and utilisation of staffing resources
    • Empower and build staff competence through continuous assessment and development
    • Assist with the effective management of operational expenses (including stock and capital)
    • Compliance to CSSD principles and protocols
    • Adherence to Statutory requirements 
    • Inventory / Stock  management 
    • To identify, address and report departmental risks
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the department
    • Building relationships with all partners and stakeholders  

    REQUIRED EDUCATION

    ESSENTIAL EDUCATION: Degree/ Diploma in General Nursing and a Theatre Diploma

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

    ESSENTIAL MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:  5 years  experience working in a theatre as a scrub sister

    DESIRED EXPERIENCE:  1 year experience in a centralised sterile supply department 

    REQUIRED JOB SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    • Pharmacology
    • Nursing record keeping
    • Nursing processes and procedures
    • Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
    • Relevant nursing legislation
    • Infection prevention and control (IPC) principles and protocols
    • Scientific nursing principles and process
    • Audit patient records
    • Patient assessment skills
    • Develop/ modify a nursing care plan
    • Scope of practice for nurse practitioners
    • For specialised wards; ACLS; ATLS; PALS trained;
    • Risk identification
    • Analysing and interpretation skills
    • Basic life support trained

    • Knowledge and experience working with relevant pharmacy systems (e.g. UNISOLV; AS400)

    Senior Service Centre Officer

    Job Description

    MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

    To support the HR service delivery model as part of HR Shared Services in delivering HR related transactional and administrative tasks to employees, line managers and the HR community through the use of self-help, ticketing, telephonic and technology resources.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

    • Support employees with relevant Tier 1 and 2 human resources requests and enquiries
    • Optimise the service delivery of the Service Centre

    REQUIRED EDUCATION

    • Grade 12 with experience OR Degree/Diploma in Human Resource Management

    • Relevant tertiary qualification (higher certificate, diploma or degree) in human resources management

    • Knowledge of all relevant HR legislation and regulatory guidelines
    • Knowledge and understandinng of the General HR Policies with a focus on certain remuneration, payroll and benefits policies, processes and principles
    • Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
