    Maintenance Specialist Electrical (Middelburg)

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

    SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, RISK, QUALITY AND COMMUNITY

    • Identify and assess level of issue based risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
    • Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
    • Manage SHEQ compliance within the Process through effective use of the Toolbox
    • Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status
    • Adhere to all related SOP’s, PTO’s, and CTO’s as per Training Matrix per position, SHEQ and company standards
    • 5S Management

    PEOPLE

    Manage the Section:

    • Ensure an enabling climate/culture.
    • Manage labour stability by minimising labour turnover:
    • Labour compliment in line with budget
    • Achieve HDSA/ Female targets for the section.
    • Manage performance against set targets and competencies:
    • Ensure IDP’s are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan.
    • Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent (quarterly)
    • Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.)
    • Chair disciplinary hearings when required.
    • Coach and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels.
    • Conduct recruitment interviews

    CUSTOMERS

    • Ensure Customer Satisfaction
    • Proactively seek ways of improving equipment reliability, planned maintenance and physical maintenance in the plant

    BUSINESS PROCESSES

    Maintenance Support:

    • Initiate task list reviews
    • Develop maintenance plans (frequencies, maintainable items)
    • Initiate plan review and review maintenance plans

    Maintenance Data Analysis:

    • Perform Pareto analyses, correlation analyses and report top 5 chronic losses
    • Interview production personnel w.r.t. trips and artisans w.r.t. repetitive trips

    Solve problems and implement solutions:

    • Arrange RCFA investigation and facilitate the problem solving session
    • Analyse alternative solutions and recommend best solution/s based on:
    • HSEC impact
    • Cost – risk – benefit analysis on key equipment performance parameters
    • Cost benefit to the organisation
    • Recommend best solutions to problems through the change management process
    • Record actions arising from RCA
    • Monitor recurring failures related to implemented RCA's (KPI until close out)
    • Track Condition Monitoring (CM) results
    • Analyse equipment failure history
    • Log equipment problems identified for further action
    • Develop a list of clear problem statements and business cases for problems requiring RCA
    • Monitor and share Company-wide similarities / learning opportunities by using the Intranet Sites and SAP History
    • Monitor and advertise latest maintenance and technology developments
    • Develop, maintain and monitor adherence to maintenance standards and specifications

    Work Analysis:

    • Ensure the latest techniques are being applied with respect to NDT and condition monitoring
    • Advise in building reliability and maintainability in the design of new or modified equipment
    • Ensure sustained FLAC improvements

    Contractor Management:

    • Develop detailed scope of work for defined scope jobs

     Rotables Management:

    • Maintain Scope of Work data base (Specifications, Quality Plan, Witness points)

    General:

    • Financial Management
    • Approve and authorise workflow
    • Perform standby
    • Work overtime as and when required
    • Act in a higher level as and when required

    GROWTH

    • Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
    • 4 years’ relevant C-Upper experience gained in a heavy industrial operation (BOF, Steel Plant, DC Furnaces, Sub Arc Furnaces)
    • Computer Literacy (MS Office)

    ADVANTAGEOUS

    • SAP and COUPA experience
    • Driver’s License (minimum B/ Code 8)
    • Minimum of one year experience in a Supervisory or Management capacity
    • A recognized managerial qualificatio

    Logistics Specialist Raw Materials (Steelpoort)

    SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, RISK, QUALITY AND COMMUNITY:

    • Manage SHEQ compliance within the Section through effective use of the Toolbox

    • Update Process Strategy
    • Provide inputs to the Operational Strategy
    • Conduct Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and implement findings
    • Conduct machine application studies and present finding to lead team.
    • Conduct time and motion studies on SME tasks.

    Process Management:

    • Achieve process budget
    • Challenge current operational processes and formulate new ideas.

    CMMS:

    • Report process measures.

    Project Management:

    • Implement improvement projects

    Maintenance Schedule:

    • Adhere to Maintenance Schedule

    Quality Control:

    • Conduct inspections on Surface Mobile Equipment tasks to ensure that the desired quality outputs are achieved.
    • Manage furnace and PSP recipe against budget
    • Manage quality of Raw Material and address non-conformance
    • Conduct regular inspections on Supervisor machine application control and make recommendations to the superintendent.
    • Manage Continuous Improvement through Operational Excellence

    Requirements

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • B.Eng./BSc. (Eng.) Degree or ND Diploma 
    • 4 years relevant experience
    • Logistics or mineral processing experience required
    • Knowledge of SAP systems and MS Office  

    ADVANTAGEOUS

    • Ferrochrome Smelter experience
    • Logistics experience in a Ferrochrome environment
    • Knowledge of Raw materials in a Smelter environment
    • COUPA experience

    Production Operator Exports (Middelburg)

    CUSTOMERS

    • Housekeeping - quality stockpile maintenance (pre-break and final)
    • Inspect pre-break stockpiles for quality and sizing
    • Inspect trucks/trains/vehicles prior to loading
    • Do quality checks throughout the loading process 
    • Inspect rail trucks for over and skew loading and assist excavator operator to rectify it
    • Complete and place Identification cards on rail trucks
    • Take and process required samples when required
    • Deliver samples to the Lab (forklift operation included)
    • Accountability over final product material movements – inspecting recovery etc.
    • Maintain a high standard of human and industrial relations with other departments
    • Ensure that good communication is maintained throughout – report issues to relevant persons
    • Ensure continuation of breaking process when Crusher Plant has no shift– measure temperature of ingots
    • Organise, execute, monitor and control loading and dispatch of bulk loading programmes including document control

    Requirements

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Grade 12/ N3/ N3 that is equivalent to a Grade 12/ Matric – 4 Technical/ Business subjects and 2 x language subjects 
    • 2 years’ relevant experience in a production environment
    • Valid Driver’s license (minimum B/Code 8)

    Advantageous:

    • Experience of plant layout
    • Valid Forklift license
