    Prive Underwriter - Risk Engineer

    What will make you successful in this role?

    • The position will have full accountability for the risk survey evaluation and underwriting of all very large Commercial Property policies with exposures greater than R250m at every stage of the policy lifecycle i.e. from quote stage to amendments to renewal of these policies and will therefore require a certain level of discretion to be considered and applied. The incumbent will be expected to know these policies intimately and be able to discuss details directly with brokers, giving advice where required and suggesting solutions.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • Conducting desktop assessment according to retention class and exposure
    • Identify hazards and risk exposures at the premises and to advise of risk improvement requirements
    • Review survey reports provided from internal and external stakeholders to assess the risk and to provide risk reduction requirements or alternative risk management measures for the risk.
    • Review surveys & QA of completed survey reports
    • Assist Underwriters in risk selection and retention by providing loss control expertise
    • Technical support to underwriters and technical managers
    • Read and Interpret the survey report requirements and prepare RRR letters for brokers incl. handling RRR negotiations under the guidance of the relevant Technical Manager

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Matric 
    • Fire Service Qualification, Technical Engineering Degree or Diploma, or relevant qualification,   
    • Valid driver’s licence                                                                                                    
    • Computer literate on Excel, Word, Presentations, etc.                                                                                            
    • RIA(Risk Identification Assessment) Modules completed
    • Experience and competence at risk surveying
    • Ability to work with all relevant SANS and firefighting codes / standards levels) 
    • Google Earth & Maps analysis
    • Commercial underwriting knowledge

    IT Systems Analyst (Developer / Security)

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Security Analysis and Monitoring

    • Analyse and assess security measures within the organization's IT systems. 
    • Monitor security alerts and incidents, conduct investigations, and provide timely response to security events. 
    • Collaborate with the incident response team to identify and mitigate security incidents. 

    Vulnerability Assessment

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in information security, Computer Science, or a related field.
    • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or equivalent. 
    • 10 years of development experience with at least 3 years of information security experience.
    • Proven experience in information security, including security analysis, vulnerability assessment, and incident response. 
    • At least three years' experience in security technology tools like Firewalls, Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Antivirus and Antimalware Software, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), QRadar, and ArcSight, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Endpoint Security, Encryption Tools, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Nessus, Qualys, SCCM, and DevSecOps.

    Underwriting Assistant

    What will make you successful in this role?

    Key responsibilities include:
    Underwriting Assistance:

    • Generate monthly renewal lists for SME Digital Business 
    • Ensure the renewal reports are updated timeously.
    • Proactively ensure that the renewal process is followed in terms of:
    • Distributing renewal invitations via the respective communication tools (mailchimp etc.)
    • Follow up on invitations / renewals and secondary follow up’s on new business.
    • Assist with the administrative underwriting duties.
    • Attend to all system processing related functions within the underwriting area.

    Policy Administration (Digital):

    • Data capturing of any manually created policy schedules and all related documentation including endorsements.
    • All administration related to policies including raising invoices and credit control follow ups.

    Digital Specific Admin:

    • Drawing of standard reports if and when required.
    • Assist with new user creation on PU
    • Test new functionality on PU
    • Update of content on PU where required
    • Creating new users in Pocket Underwriter.

    Digital Client Liaison:

    • Respond to queries and resolve to the satisfaction of the affected parties within the scope of authority and / or responsibility.
    • Provision of telephonic backup and answering services to the digital distribution division.
    • Manage broker queries on the usage of the Pocket Underwriter
    • Handle credit control queries and errors
    • Assist with the administrative process of moving risks into the digital platform
    • Continuously monitor quality and accuracy of the documents and KIT records produced by the system
    • Get involved in ongoing system testing

    General Administration:

    • Liaison with Santam finance department and brokers to resolve credit control issues and accounts issues.
    • Drawing of standard reports if and when required.
    • Attend to daily administrative routine tasks in accordance with organisational standards, processes and procedures.
    • Attend to the typing of general correspondence if and when necessary such as endorsements and cover letters.
    • The underwriting assistant in this area also has the opportunity to learn the backend of the Pocket Underwriter to continuously improve the user experience of each broker.

    • The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of Claims Relationship Managers, ensuring that they are managing and maintaining professional relationships and the performance of MBRs, in line with Santam’s objectives.
