    Learning Experience Designer 3.04 - Braamfontein

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Supporting staff in conceptualizing and implementing blended T&L strategies, including supporting academics’ use of the learning management system (LMS), and increasing staff awareness of various educational technologies to support and enhance contact teaching.
    • Driving initiatives (workshops and courses) to increase staff and student digital literacy.
    • Co-development of quality assurance framework for blended learning in science, and evaluation of courses against framework.
    • Researching and motivating for new technologies and approaches to support and enhance blended teaching and learning in science.

    Key Competencies

    • Excellent understanding of instructional design principles and blended T&L concepts and strategies.
    • Extensive LMS experience (experience of Canvas would be advantageous).
    • Confident face-to-face and online facilitation and presentation skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and confident verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent written communication skills (i.e., proven ability to write good instructive and educational material, as well as concise and coherent reports).
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to work independently as well as in a team.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • A relevant Honours degree in the field related to learning design (e.g., education, social sciences, computer science/information systems/web development, graphics/web design).
    • Studying towards a relevant Masters degree will be an added advantage.
    • At least five years’ experience in the educational use and technical support of learning management systems.
    • Two years relevant work experience in a higher education context.
    • Experience in designing conceptually coherent, visually attractive, inclusive online courses and blended courses.
    • Solid knowledge of a range of educational technologies.

    Lecturer / Senior Lecturer (x2 Posts) - Johannesburg

    • The Wits School of Education is seeking to appoint a suitable candidate at Lecturer / Senior Lecturer level in the Division of Languages, Literacies and Literatures to contribute to teacher education, postgraduate programmes and research activities. Areas of expertise must be in general aspects of English Education and ability to teach methodologies across English and African languages, and/or digital literacies. Teaching English as an additional language and supervision of students across languages in the Division (English, IsiZulu and Sesotho) will be an added advantage.

    Qualifications and experience:

    The successful applicant must meet the following criteria to be appointed:

    • PhD in an appropriate field
    • A minimum of three years’ experience of teaching English at school and/or in higher education for Lecturer or Senior Lecturer levels
    • Potential to contribute to curriculum innovation and design and implementation of new courses
    • Ability to teach methodology courses across English and African languages
    • Evidence and/or potential to supervise postgraduate research on English in multilingual contexts
    • Evidence of research ability and/or potential (a publication record would be an advantage for Lecturer and is required for Senior Lecturer level)
    • Ability to contribute to transformation in the School and University

    Contract

    • A successful candidate will be on a permanent contract in a full-time capacity.
