    Systems Controller - Durban

    What unique contribution does this work make to the organisation?
    Will regularly inspect components related to vehicle tires, for example, rims, hubs, studs and nuts to check for excessive wear or cracks, damage to the beads, performing periodic tests on the tires.

    Minimum Requirements

    Qualification:

    • Transport Bus maintenance/professional technical training in mechanics / Minimum school requirements or grade equivalent to 12th class.
    • At least 3 years in the same or similar position
    • Knowledge of mandatory health and safety standards at work
    • Proactive, confident , assertive
    • Ability to work under pressure and deliver within working hours

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Responsible for ensuring that tires used by busses, and heavy equipment are in good condition for the road and will ensure the safety of vehicle users.
    • Responsible for the appropriate and more ecological disposal of scrap metal and must repair and replace vehicle components related to tires, whether inner tubes, rims, wheels or others.
    • Ensure that tires are inflated as specified by their manufacturers, you will stock tires weekly,
    • Carrying out road repairs.
    • Rotate tires to different positions on vehicles using hand tools.
    • Seal punctures in tubeless tires by inserting adhesive material and expanding rubber plugs into drilling, with hand tools.
    • Separate tube tires from wheels using rubber hammers and metal bars or mechanical tire changers.
    • Unscrew the vehicle's wheels and remove them, using tire irons and other hand and power tools.
    • Assist mechanics and perform other duties as directed.
    • Clean the sides of whitewall tires.
    • Service busses to industrial sites to provide services and respond to emergency calls.
    • Identify and inflate tires correctly for size and ply.
    • Order tire and tube replacements.
    • Apply rubber cement to polished tire casings before the vulcanization process.
    • Buff the defective areas of the inner tubes using scrapers.
    • Glue boots (tire patches) over ruptures in tire casings using rubber cement.
    • Fill the inner tubes and soak them in water to locate leaks.
    • Inspect tire casings for defects such as punctures and tears.
    • Locate punctures in tubeless tires by visual inspection or by immersing inflated tires in water baths and watching for air bubbles.
    • Patch pipes with adhesive rubber patches or seal rubber patches on pipes using hot vulcanization plates.
    • Prepare wheel rims and drums for reassembly by scraping, grinding or sandblasting .
    • Raise vehicles with hydraulic jacks.
    • Remount the tires on the wheels.

    • Process for claims is completed until RFC (return for credit is done)
    • Queries on faulty products with suppliers
    • Ensuring warranties are secured on faulty parts

    Master File maintenance

    • Create, update, and maintain the Unitrans parts master file for VM items across business.
    • Supersede part numbers as per OE updates / information provided

    Purchasing Support

    • Assist buyers with accurate part numbers and master files per request to ensure parts purchased are accurate and in line with OEM or manufacturer.

    Obsolete Stock

    • Coordinate with selected 3rd party provider, items listed for sale that are obsolete in line with reorder categorization.
    • Ensure part number and vehicle are correctly updated and loaded for sale
    • Assist with cataloguing and working with Depots and Category manager for correct identification.

    Sale of Selected Stock

    • Drive sales of Obsolete stock in accordance with category manager, depot manager and distribution manager and setsales targets.
