    Hospital Case Manager

    Requirements

    • Must be available immediately
    • Registered with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse or with the HPCSA as a qualified paramedic
    • Experience in Theatre and or ICU serves as an advantage (Enrolled and Professional Nurse)
    • Experience as an ALS Paramedic is essential (Paramedic)
    • Case management experience is essential
    • Experience in private healthcare environment
    • Knowledge of the Scientific Nursing Process and associated procedures
    • Knowledge of the rules and regulations regarding medical aid schemes
    • Knowledge of clinical codes and coding policies
    • Knowledge of patient administration systems, policies and procedures
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
    • Independent problem-solving and decision-making skills
    • Good accuracy and attention to detail skills in order to maintain high standards of work output

    Key Outputs

    • Responsible for the case management processes
    • Interacts with medical schemes to ensure that authorisations are provided timeously
    • Verification of clinical coding as per policies and procedures
    • Ensures accurate application and interpretation of specialised wards criteria
    • Provides support for the management of alternative fee structures
    • Liaison with doctors on funder requirements when necessary
    • Continuous performance and quality management
    • Interpretation and implementation of scheme benefit rules
    • Maintains client service principles to ensure client expectations are met

    Phlebotomist

    Requirements

    • At least 1 - 2 years work experience as a Phlebotomist
    • Registered Nurse or Enrolled Nurse or Phlebotomy Technician with a certificate in Phlebotomy Techniques
    • Registered with SANC or with HPCSA as a Medical Technician in the category of Phlebotomy
    • Sound knowledge of phlebotomy procedures and processes
    • Experience in drawing blood from paediatric patients
    • Arterial blood gases draw experience
    • Knowledge of the National Health Act and medical ethical guidelines in the medical pathology field
    • Familiar with anatomy, physiology and medical terminology relevant to medical pathology
    • Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional bedside manner - The ability to handle patients in a professional manner
    • Well-presented and professional communication skills
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
    • Administrative skills and attention to detail
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)

    Key Outputs

    Job Summary:

    • To draw blood, or other samples/specimens, from patients for various testing purposes in accordance with professional standards and regulatory requirements.
    • Perform a variety of routine and complex blood and specimen collecting procedures in line with professional standards and regulatory requirements to ensure safe patient care
    • Conduct pre-and post-test counselling to patients and family members to explain blood draw procedures and answer any questions about the process
    • Identify, prevent and report risks to ensure patient safety and follow all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain a sterile work area
    • Perform administrative tasks to ensure correct and accurate recording and processing of patient and clinical information
    • Ensure that all utilised stock is accurately recorded and charged
    • Build and maintain collaborative working relationships as part of the hospital emergency centre's multi-disciplinary team

    Clinical Technologist - Renal Dialysis

    Requirements

    • Must be available immediately to work shifts
    • Approximately 1 - 2 years Dialysis experience
    • Degree / Diploma in Clinical Technology (Nephrology)
    • Registration with HPCSA as a Clinical Technologist (Independent Practice)

    Key Outputs

    • To deliver safe, comprehensive and quality patient care, with specific reference to renal disease treatment and education, according to the Scope of Practice and Renal Care policies and procedures
    • Deliver quality patient care in collaboration with a multi-professional team
    • Identify, prevent and manage risks, ensuring patient safety
    • Provide accurate and comprehensive records of all patient interventions
    • Ensure that all utilised stock and equipment are accurately charged
