Key Responsibilities

Develop and Maintain Software

• Analyse, design and produce quality software, using the HTML5, CSS, Typescript and SOLID principles. Create and maintain documentation of the software design and implementation. Adhere to and improve the defined team standards and best practices. Create estimates and reviews them with seniors and the team. Communicate status and escalates on risks timeously. Identify, analyse, and fix scalability & performance issues. Meet the defined game specifications and/or requirements within the agreed time.

Knowledge Sharing

• Proactively and readily shares knowledge within the team.

Software Quality

• Actively review and fix all defects found as per the defined quality standards. Debug and simulate using Test Harness and Emulators/OS/Browser, according to the official device list. Take full ownership of quality by working with the QA team to ensure the test plans are of a high quality and cover the full scope of development. Test software as per the team's software quality charter, as well as all changes made and ensure that existing functionality works as expected. Contributes to the improvement of the team's quality standards and processes.

Support and Maintenance

• Provide effective and timely feedback on support issues. Provide support for product related issues in production in a timely manner. Provide support to dependent teams.

Required Skills and Experience

• Matric, IT Tertiary qualification or equivalent

• 3 years + development experience

• Coding experience in:

  • Typescript &/ JavaScript

  • OO experience in C# or Java

  • HTML & CSS

• Game and/or mobile development experience

• Productivity tools (e.g. Jira, Azure Boards, TFS)

• Understand code static analysis tools – SonarQube/TSLint

• Emulators/OS/Browser experience

• Understand/participate in the SDLC process

• Have a detailed orientated approach

• Understand/participate fully in Agile practices (SCRUM)

• Good communication skills

Key Responsibilities

Develop and Maintain Software

• Acquire and maintain in-depth knowledge of the product. Provide technical mentorship on the project complexity, scope and risk for the product. Analyse requirements and create an appropriate software design. Guide team members with their requirement analysis and design. Collaborate with senior colleagues in creating and maintaining the team's SDLC. Communicate status and escalate on risks and issues timeously. Comprehensively create and maintain documentation of the software, system design and implementation. Create appropriate task estimates and review them with the team. Maintain, adhere to and oversee application of development and documentation standards, and team processes. Develop and release software to meet the defined specifications within the agreed time. Maintenance performed should not compromise the quality or functionality of the software.

Works with other senior developers and architects to create and maintain the architectural vision for the team's products.

Software Quality

• Actively drive the improvement of the team's quality standards and processes. Review and fix all defects found as per the defined quality standards. Facilitate team code reviews with the aim to improve the quality of the team's software and upskilling of other team members. Help others improve the quality of their work. Ensure software functions as per the defined specification. Take full ownership of quality by working with the QA team to ensure the test plans are of a high quality and cover the full scope of development. Test all changes made and ensure that existing functionality works as expected. Test software as per the team's software quality charter.

Support and Maintenance

• Provide effective and timely feedback on support issues. Provide support for product related issues in production with appropriate urgency, as well as support to dependent teams.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum 3-year relevant qualification and at least 5 years software development experience OR Relevant 1-year certification and at least 7 years software development experience OR Minimum 8 years software development experience

• Coding experience in:

  • JavaScript ES5/ES6

  • HTML

  • CSS

  • C#

  • .Net

• Game and/or mobile development experience

• Productivity tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, TFS)

• Emulators/OS/Browser experience

• Solid experience in the SDLC process

• Active coaching experience

• Effective teamwork experience

• Strong technical abilities

Contributes to ensuring an appropriate software design, in conjunction with Technical Lead and Senior Developer, according to best practice. Develops and releases software as per the team standards and processes to meet the defined specifications. Ensures that the development or maintenance performed does not comprise the quality or functionality and seeks guidance from Seniors where necessary. Communicates status and escalates on risks and issues appropriately and timeously. Comprehensively creates and maintains documentation of the software implementation, according to documentation standards

• Software Quality

Test your software as per the team’s software quality charter. Make sure your software does what supposed to do as per the defined specification. Test all changes you made and ensure that existing functionality works as expected. Takes full ownership of quality by working with the QA team and Team Seniors to ensure the test plans are of a high quality and cover the full scope of development. Actively review and fix all defects found as per the defined quality standards and seeks guidance from seniors where necessary.

• Support and Maintenance

Provides support for product related issues in production with appropriate amount of urgency, while quickly identifying the problem scope. Provides effective and timely feedback on support issues. Provides support to dependent teams.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum Qualifications: B.Sc. Computer science degree or relevant IT/ game development qualification

• Advantageous: Experience in Web Technologies

• Understand the SDLC

• Appropriate problem-solving skills

• Work under pressure

• Good written and verbal communications skills

• Ability to troubleshoot with assistance
