    Director: Resources Mobilisation

    JOB DESCRIPTION
    Key performance areas include but are not limited to:

    •  To lead and direct the Resource Mobilisation directorate regarding the Vaal University of Technology (VUT) efforts to broaden third income streams.
    •  Establish and strengthen relations with current and potential local and international donors or
    • funders and stakeholders to increase donations to the University’s various causes/programme/projects.

    APPLICATION CRITERIA:
    Qualification and Experience:

    •  Master’s Degree (NQF10) in Sales, Marketing, Communication, or relevant business-related field.
    •  A minimum of ten (10) years operational experience in Fundraising, Sales, Marketing, Communications, Stakeholder Relations and/or Public Relations
    •  A minimum of seven years management experience in Fundraising, Sales, Marketing, Communications, Stakeholder Relations and/or Public Relations

    Recommendation:

    •  A Master’s degree (NQF 10) with specialisation in Sales, Marketing, Communications, or relevant business-related field.
    •  Evidence of current networks
    •  Track Record in effective funding initiatives (rand value)

    DVC: Resources and Operations

    JOB DESCRIPTION:
    The strategic role of the DVC: Resources and Operations lend itself to the realisation of the VUT Strategic goals through ensuring efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability. This requires an experienced leader who is responsible for strategic planning and management of Operations and Logistics, Human Resources, Information Technology Services, Finance, and Student Support Services.     DVC: Teaching, Learning

    JOB DESCRIPTION: 

    As a member of the executive of the University, the incumbent will actively support the VC&P in the strategic leadership and management of the University and in supervising academic and administrative functions through line reports. Although each Executive is appointed in the first instance to oversee particular functions, these may change over the course of time at the VC’s discretion.

    Key performance areas include but are not limited to:

    •  Operational strategic leadership
    •  Strategic leadership of faculties
    •  Academic planning
    •  Strategic leadership of the Centre of Academic Development and other teaching and learning advancement centres/units/groups within the university

    Application Criteria:
    Qualifications and Experience

    • Relevant PhD and Professorship (Associate or Full)
    • Fifteen years (15) experience in higher education institutions of which ten (10) years should have been at a senior management level
    • An established academic track record in teaching with evidence of excellence supported by accredited scholarly publications in the South African higher education environment.
    • Experience in strategic leadership in different methodologies of teaching and learning (e.g. andragogy, pedagogy and heutagogy)
    • A very strong understanding of the Higher Education policy landscape nationally and internationally
    • Strong experience in academic and institutional policies and processes
    • Demonstrated understanding of issues affecting student access and success
    • Excellent knowledge and understanding of corporate governance issues within academia
    • Experience in arears of teaching and learning, innovative course and programme design, academic development, and support and Africanisation of the PQM
    • Experience in addressing manifestations of inequality and transformation within the Higher Education environment
    • Demonstratable knowledge in envisioning and implementation of blended learning and the use of ICT’S in teaching and learning
    • Knowledge of the use of at least one proprietary and open source learning management system
    • Demonstratable ability to lead and envision the planning and implementation of OERs and MOOCs
    • Substantial experience in leading quality management in line with expectations of the Council of Higher Education and other relevant statutory bodies

    The Executive Director: Human Resources is a member of the Executive Management Committee, responsible for the strategic alignment of the Human Resources function within the University’s vision and mission.
