    Principal Mineral Residue Facilities Engineer

    The Role

    • We are looking for a Principal Mineral Residue Facilities (Tailings) Engineer who will provide discipline leadership at Business Unit and Operational level in the planning, design and execution of mineral residue facilities and ensure leading industry best practice is in place to achieve effective tailings and water management towards eventual successful and sustainable closure.
    • This role will be based in either UK or South Africa. You will be working across Anglo’s global portfolio of operations and projects. International travel will be a requirement of this role.

    Key role requirements:

    • Ensure that global leading safety and sustainable development practices are identified, considered and implemented in mineral residue and water management and projects.
    • Provide support to develop and update technical standards and guiding documents.
    • Support with guidance documents on tenders, and other environmental and legal review documents as required.
    • Implement to advance global leadership in mineral residue management and application of best in class technology.
    • Identify and develop options for value optimisation and reduction in risk by application of best practice and considering synergies across the full value chain.
    • Review the mineral residue facilities and water dams in mining and processing operations for reliability, environmental impact, safety, integrity, suitability and capacity to meet LOAP and licence/permit requirements, production targets and closure requirements on a safe and sustainable basis.
    • Provide specialist mineral residue disposal inputs to review teams and ensure that full RDP and LOAP requirements are considered with consideration of requisite regulations, standards and technology development.
    • Provide assistance, monitoring and report on the implementation of mineral residue facilities related standards to ensure conformance at Operational and Business Unit level.
    • Actively support and assist the Social and Government Relations team in communication of technical aspects related to mineral residue facilities.

    Qualifications

    Formal Qualifications

    • Essential: An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline.
    • Registered as a professional engineer where applicable.

    Role-specific Knowledge/Requirements

    • A specialist in the understanding and application of mineral residue management covering a range of commodities and operating conditions.
    • A detailed understanding of management of mineral residue facilities across the full life cycle of: planning, design, tender documentation and assistance with adjudication, construction, operational support and closure
    • Expertise across Mineral Residue projects from study and feasibility to project execution.
    • Strong planning, design and/or operational experience applied to tailings dams and water dams for the Mining industry.
    • Demonstrated experience in project management, strategic planning and analysis.
    • Track record of success liaising and dealing at senior levels with suppliers, JV Partners, regulatory bodies, community stakeholders, research institutions and industry associations.

    Protection Services Senior Superintendent Operations

     

    Job Description

    • As a Protection Services Superintendent Operations, you will manage Protection Services shifts to protect employees and assets on site to establish a safe work environment.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Effective management and expert support for the implementation of Protection Services best practices within the operation
    • Manage, plan and coordinate work for the Protection Services team through effective liaison with Protection Services and Operational Management
    • Department planning and work scheduling for Protection Services in the operation.
    • Continuously liaise with the Protection Services Manager, Operational Manager and external agencies on protection strategy and policies
    • Monitoring security indicators and trends in the organization and identifying optimization proposals
    • Ensure that resources are allocated effectively to address operational needs.
    • Monitoring and advising on Protection Services equipment, techniques, and methodologies to support operational initiatives.
    • Implementing contingency plans to ensure that the operation is protected from risk even in adverse conditions.
    • Implementing security technologies and approaches that would be effective for the operation.
    • Manage improvement projects that will protect against risks in the operation.
    • Communicate best practices
    • Identify best practices applicable to the role through benchmarking other organizations.
    • Conduct investigations within the operation.
    • Identifying investigations requiring expert advisors or dedicated teams
    • Build relationships with the community and local law enforcement agencies.
    • Manage information gathering systems within the operation to support management decision making for the protection of assets and employees.

    • Advise management on effective risk management approaches relating to Protection Services
    • Liaise effectively with expert support in the Protection Services structure to ensure that management is aware of Regional or National issues that could impact on the security of the operation.
    • Proposal of ideas to improve security measures.
    • Identify opportunities to improve Protection Services within the operation.
    • Support the development and acceptance of business plans, strategies and SLA’s for protection services in the operation
    • Manage service level agreements with customers.
    • Participate in SHEQ meetings, audits, reviewing documents and trends and implement new procedures
    • Conduct annual, quarterly and acting performance ratings on all subordinates.
    • Participate, support, and manage SHEQ standards and drives.
    • Participate and represent the Protection Services operation on meetings when necessary.
    • Identify and analyse risks and threats timeously and pro-actively.
    • Ensure confidentiality and introduce counter measures to address identified risks.
    • Participating and drive of business plans and strategies for the Protection Services and the operation
    • Assist and support HOD manager team to achieve continuous improvements.

    • Develop standards, policies and procedures for the operation.
    • Monitor incident reporting and ensure necessary investigations.
    • Manages the performance measurement process for employees in the department.
    • Coordinate regular specialist training in firearms, CIA management and emergency procedures.
    • Ensures the registration of facilities and employees with regulatory bodies.
    • Support the management of financial control in the operation.
    • Ensure accuracy of systems and information
    • Effective administration of criminal investigations through to conviction
    • Manage effective security systems to protect cash, bullion, explosives and company property and assets.
    • Prepare ad-hoc reports for management / customers.
    • Manage and effectiveness communication systems on the operation.
    • Manage shift schedules, leave rosters and overtime.
    • Perform acting duties when required.
    • Manage the maintenance of accurate employee and assets records.
    • Ensure security profiling and screening of employees.
    • Manage effective access controls.

    This role is in the Protection Services Department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Protection Services Manager.

    Qualifications

    To be successful in this role you will need to have:

    • Grade 12
    • National Diploma in Security Management or Equivalent
    • Handle and use a Shotgun for Business Purposes
    • Handle and use a Handgun for Business Purposes
    • Handle and use a Self-loading Rifle for Business Purposes
    • PSIRA Armed responses course
    • PSIRA Bullion Cash in Transit as per operational requirement
    • Registered with the PSIRA on grade A
    • Valid driver’s license code B
    • Armoured Vehicle Driver Course will be advantageous.
    • PSIRA DH 4 Dog Handler qualification (as per operational requirement)
    • Tactical firearms qualification will be advantageous.

    To be successful, you will have the following experience:

    • Minimum 6 years’ experience in Security or equivalent environment with exposure in Investigation/ Crime Information analysis/Information gathering / and or Surveillance.
    • 5 years’ experience in security management
    • CCTV surveillance systems and control room experience as per operational requirements
