    Deputy Dean

    Brief Description        
    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support the Dean to provide strategic leadership and effective management of the faculty.

    Job Description

    • Conduct original research and publish scholarly works

    The successful candidate must meet the following criteria to be appointed:

    • Ph.D. in Drama in Education, Applied Drama, Theatre Techniques and Dance and Movement

    • Mentoring pre-service teachers during work integrated learning/ teaching experience

    Relevant Experience

    • 5 years teaching experience in a Foundation Phase and/or Intermediate Phase learning contexts.

    Lecturer .2.01

    Brief Description        
    Requirements: 

    • Experience in teaching African-language literature, African-language media and African-language film studies;
    • Evidence of research ability, with 1-2 peer-reviewed publications;
    • Ability to teach isiZulu or Sesotho second language (L2) acquisition courses;
    • A PhD in any area of African-language literature and cultural studies; 
    • Ability to develop teaching materials on literature and cultural studies for delivery on an e-learning platform; 
    • Home language proficiency in an indigenous South African language, with fluency in any two of the following: Nguni, Sotho, XiTsonga, and TshiVenda.

    Responsibilities:

    Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Actuarial Science

    Brief Description        
    Minimum Qualifications and Experience

    Lecturer

    • Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa (FASSA), plus an Honours' degree (or equivalent 4-year degree) and work experience at an appropriate level of relevant actuarial practice, preferably in life, finance or general insurance. A Masters or PhD, as well as prior lecturing and supervision experience will be considered an advantage.

    Senior Lecturer

    • As for lecturer, but in addition with at least 10 years' post-qualification relevant actuarial practice.

    Duties

    • Teaching, examining, course development and research, supervision of students for Honours' projects, publishing research, and assisting in the management of the actuarial programme. The candidate would also be expected to participate in the activities of the Actuarial Society of South Africa. Senior Lecturers will also be expected to supervise Masters' research reports and dissertations.
