    Senior DevOps Engineer - BI

    PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Technical support of BI Datahub technology (hardware, software, databases - including upgrades, resolving vulnerabilities)
    • Administration of infrastructure deployment, technical support procedures, application deployments & releases, servers, nodes, databases, etc.
    • Monitoring and management of hardware & software resource performance (CPU, Memory, Disk I/O, etc.)  across all environments and take decisive action where potential business user impact is anticipated or experienced
    • Collaborating with Architects and Technical Specialists on ways to automate and improve the development, release management and production observation processes & procedures
    • Collaborates with ETL developers, data engineers and data analysts to ensure that development follows established processes and works as intended
    • System troubleshooting and maintenance
    • Installation of software (from operating systems through to applications) across environments

    General Functions

    • Consult with the Solution Architects on the Guidewire platform (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, ContactManager, Digital, Data) in terms of application configuration and infrastructure to support application services
    • Identification of bottlenecks and process inefficiencies and collaborate with team to create and implement improvements
    • Identification of potential risks / issues and give input into risk plan
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the internal workings of key software packages within BI DataHub 
    • Work with key vendors to understand their current and future offerings & services with a view of adopting and driving broad implementation

    Quality Assurance

    • Work as a team member with Development teams and technical staff, to ensure the solutions/amendments are implemented according to best practice
    • Participate in various Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving initiatives setup and managed by Technical Support and/or SGT

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • National Diploma / Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering or another quantitative field preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years relevant experience
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of managerial experience
    • Working experience with Windows, scripting (e.g. Powershell), SQL Databases, distributed web applications
    • Exposure to ETL tools (e.g. SSIS, DataStage) will be beneficial
    • Experience with CI/CD (continuous integration, continuous delivery) tools
    • Experience in application development, version control, support and release management
    • Experience in messaging middleware, web services, SOAP, REST, SOA,  SMTP, FTP, secure FTP
    • Experience working with and supporting complex systems deployed to cloud (i.e. AWS) would be beneficial

    KNOWLEDGE

    • Familiarity with monitoring tools and the management thereof
    • Good understanding of complex IT environments, network infrastructure such as load balancers, network proxies, etc.
    • Good understanding of information security and how it impacts applications, users and the broader IT environment
    • Solid knowledge in data management

    Business Change Manager - BI

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    This person will:

    • Participate in data strategy formulation in order to conceptualise change programmes, projects and initiatives
    • Engage with stakeholders in partnership with the IT Business Delivery Team to obtain an understanding of their data and business intelligence demand
    • Develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders to facilitate accomplishments of data demand and objectives 
    • Become a trusted advisor to, and influence decision making of stakeholders by providing an advisory service, guidance and support on data quality practices
    • Facilitate collaboration between stakeholders by identifying and addressing conflict issues to ensure optimised data quality practices are implemented across stakeholder groups
    • Collaborate and maintain relationships internally by communicating business demand and assist in the buy-in and usage of products and services to enhance efficiencies and improve delivery to stakeholders 
    • Identify opportunities to influence the improvement or enhancement of business processes and methodologies by researching and recommending improvement initiatives and effective ways to operate and add value to Santam
    • Responsible for implementing a wide range of data management services on data as required by the portfolio
    • Identifies data quality concerns, conducts root cause analysis and provides feedback to the relevant governance forums and data management competency centres 
    • Be consulted for input on, and be informed of, all data management services as they relate to data
    • Share operational risk related knowledge, resources and practices (e.g. internal loss data, trends and industry benchmarks) with team and stakeholders during formal and informal interaction to enable up-skilling in the organization 
    • Obtain buy-in for developing new and/or enhanced processes (e.g. operational processes) that will improve the functioning of stakeholder’s businesses by highlighting benefits in support of the implementation of recommendations 
    • Delivery of demand for data, reporting and business intelligence services
    • Provision of specialised data services to identified stakeholders 
    • Manage conflict from time to time between Group overall position vs that of the individual Business Unit objectives
    • Manage a team of Data Analyst to assist with the impact and data dependency analysis between data sources and prepare technical specifications and design for developers.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    The BCM: Data will provide the following key services: 

    PORTFOLIO CONSULTING:

    • Ensure portfolio alignment and prioritisation with strategy / business objectives
    • Facilitate development of future initiative roadmap in support of the business strategy/objectives
    • Facilitate concept designs across individual business units and the Group through IT Business Delivery Team.
    • Prepare business cases
    • Initiate projects & assist contracting of appropriate resources

    SOLUTION DELIVERY:

    • Ensure appropriateness, quality & completeness of solutions (e.g.  review of business requirements, process designs, solutions provided & test plans)
    • Ensure project/scope alignment with business case / business objectives
    • Support appropriate governance e.g. appropriate Steerco, Data Forums, SARB, SDF etc.
    • Support change management and give input to approach and strategy
    • Build strong partnerships with Business Owner, Product Owners, Project Manager,  other IT Business Delivery Managers and external vendors.
    • Monitor BU Portfolio budget

    BUSINESS READINESS & BENEFITS REALISATION:

    • Support transition of project to operations/BAU 
    • Provide support required to embed new and changed processes and solutions to become BAU
    • Support benefits realisation & monitoring

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s Degree - applicable major preferred (Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Management, Project Management, Process Engineering, Statistics/Applied Math,)
    • DAMA certified data management professional (CDMP) or similar data management certification 
    • Minimum 10 years experience at a Management 
    • 5 years’ experience managing the BU portfolio and delivering solutions to the respective BU’s
    • 5 years strong Data Management experience will be advantageous 
    • Experienced in dealing with external suppliers and offshore business partners will be advantageous 

    KNOWLEDGE

    • Working knowledge of Data Management 
    • Working knowledge of data governance and processes
    • Strong project management skills
    • Sound business acumen

    Call Centre Quality Analyst III

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Effective underwriting of complex risks (new business, renewals, ad-hoc)

    Manager: Information Delivery (Solution Delivery /BI)

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    The purpose of the role includes the following:

    • Ensure that the data systems are designed, built and operated in an effective and efficient manner. 
    • Ensure technical delivery and operation of data applications with specific focus on appropriateness, technical quality, maintainability, performance and availability.
    • Ensure the delivery of BI initiatives, and BI delivery streams as parts of broader initiatives. This would include, but not be limited to the BI renewal project and the support the BI Cloud transition.
    • Engage with stakeholders to obtain an understanding of their data and business intelligence demand.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Manager: Information Delivery (Solution Delivery /BI) will provide the following key services: 
    STRATEGY EXECUTION:

    • Support the end-to-end data strategy and roadmap, spanning from data acquisition, data integration, processing, management and usage for the Santam Group
    • Identify opportunities to influence the improvement or enhancement of business processes and methodologies as it relates to BI by researching and recommending improvement initiatives and effective ways to operate and add value to Santam

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum 5 years strong data management experience
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing technical staff
