    Tax Consultants (Fixed Term Contract)

    Key Responsibilities

    Tax Consultants will be required to work on the following but not limited to:

    • Complex financial transactions,
    • Contract and reportable arrangements,
    • Develop compliance risk profiles and work on the new and current Inventory of cases across VAT, PIT, CIT, and Trade Taxes and engage with the relevant taxpayers and traders (telephonically, by written correspondence, and through virtual meetings) where necessary to:
    • assess submissions,
    • establish the commercial substance of the documentation,
    • validate claims made, and
    • raise assessments as necessary pursuant to optimising service and enhancing compliance.

    Tax Consultants should be:

    • competent to work independently, with minimal supervision.
    • confident to engage with taxpayers and/or their representatives.
    • able to critically review tax returns and information submitted by taxpayers’ individuals or companies and identify possible discrepancies including follow up work and requirements.
    • able to apply basic principles of forensic tax auditing in reviewing taxpayer information in conjunction with SARS third party information (bank accounts, e Natis, Masters records etc.)
    • be informed on Applicable Law that impact on own work.
    • be observant and engage on possible violations of regulations, policies, Standard Operating Procedures and standards of conduct and escalate where necessary.
    • able to conduct standard (limited scope) audits to ensure compliance with the relevant acts.
    • able to plan and organise own work tasks within area of work and to prepare and present submissions to the interest and penalty committees.
    •  Tax Consultants should also take accountability for delivery of contracted work outputs within agreed parameters, quality standards and client service targets.
    • Tax Consultants will be expected to facilitate the collection on assessments that they raise and to consider any objections and appeals that are submitted following the assessment.

    Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

    • Degree (NQF 7)/Post Graduate Diploma /Honours degree (NQF 8) in Accounting/Tax and/or CA qualification.
    • 2 to more than 10 years of proven experience in the tax consulting/tax compliance field.
    • of which 5 years is at the management level for all senior roles.

    Accountant IFRS17 Specialist (Western Cape)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Implement and maintain compliance with IFRS17 standards
    • Review financial data and perform analysis to ensure accurate reporting
    • Work closely with the actuarial team to interpret and implement new accounting policies
    • Prepare financial statements and reports in accordance with IFRS17 guidelines
    • Assist with auditing and reconciling financial data
    • Stay up to date on changes and updates to IFRS17 standards
    • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide guidance and support on IFRS17 compliance
    • Identify and communicate potential financial risks and opportunities related to IFRS17 compliance

    Qualifications:

    • CA(SA)
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on IFRS standards
    • Strong understanding of IFRS17 guidelines and regulations
    • Experience with financial reporting and analysis
    • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    Senior Finance Business Analyst (Western Cape)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct financial analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
    • Develop and maintain financial models to support forecasting and budgeting processes
    • Analyze trends in financial performance and provide insights to management
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business performance and improve financial processes
    • Assist in the preparation of financial presentations for senior leadership
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities and recommend strategies for improving financial performance
    • Lead ad-hoc financial projects as assigned by management

    Qualifications:

    • CA(SA) / CIMA Qualification
    • Insurance or Financial Services experience or finance/financial reporting processes and systems

    • Solid understanding of financial principles and best practices
    • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling
    • Experience in mapping out complex business processes
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

    Data Analyst (Western Cape)

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Collect and analyze data from various sources to identify trends and patterns
    • Interpret data to provide insights and recommendations to management
    • Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality
    • Perform data cleaning and validation to ensure accuracy
    • Create data maps with visual representations of data flows and relationships between different data sources.
    • Create visualizations and reports to present data findings to stakeholders
    • Use modelling tools like ERD (Entity-Relationship Diagrams) to visualise data models
    • Collaborate with internal teams to identify opportunities for improving data quality and reliability
    • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data analysis

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, or a related field
    • Finance Reporting Experience 
    • Proven experience as a Data Analyst or a similar role
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills

    Senior Data Engineer (Western Cape)

    Responsibilities:

    • Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines and data warehouses.
    • Conduct unit testing and troubleshooting
    • Evaluate and improve existing BI systems
    • Design and implement data models to support business requirements.
    • Optimize and tune data pipelines for performance and scalability.
    • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other team members to gather requirements and understand data needs.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior data engineers.
    • Ensure data quality and accuracy by implementing data validation and data quality checks.
    • Stay current with data engineering best practices and emerging technologies.

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data processing, or related roles.
    • Sql technology: 7+ years of experience in: SSIS, SSRS, SSAS (Tabular), T-SQL, Data Warehousing Experience, Kimball, C#.
    • Experience with data processing tools such as Spark, Hadoop, or similar big data technologies.
    • Proficiency with SQL and database technologies.
    • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
    • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts and best practices.
    • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI is a plus.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
