    Farms Tractor Machine Operator - Grain Field Chickens Farm Services, Reitz

    Job Description

    To push litter on a heap with the tractor (or any other powerful farm machine for which you are properly licenced, with large rear wheels used chiefly for pushing/ hauling manure and other items), and then load the litter on the provided vehicle in alignment with predefined work objectives (as per agreed standard operating procedures). 

    Job requirements

    • Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 Equivalent.
    • A valid tractor licence is required.
    • A clear criminal record is a must.
    • At least 1 year experience as tractor operator in a similar environment.
    • Position is based in and around chicken houses setting on farms.
    • Exposed to loud noise, moving machinery and farm equipment.
    • Exposed to extreme temperatures, smell and dust.
    • Must be able and willing to work overtime including shifts and weekends when required.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Continuously ensure that damages to buildings and equipment are avoided to prevent financial losses.
    • Off-loading of machines and equipment upon arrival at the farm.
    • Do a pre- and post-inspection daily before and after catching and report any faults or damages to direct supervisor.
    • Wash and disinfect all equipment at the end of the day, and before equipment is taken to another farm.
    • Ensure that the relevant tractor/ machine does not clean nearer than a meter from the walls of the building.
    • Pushing litter from the back to the front of the building, litter is then removed from the building and placed on the provided vehicle.
    • Litter that fell outside of the building must also be loaded on the provided vehicles.
    • Ensure tractor/ machine is serviced according to manufacturer specifications.
    • Upon arrival at the farm take off private clothes and put on work overalls.
    • Continuously comply with Health and Safety legislation in order to prevent injuries and accidents.
    • To continuously liaise with litter team members on an ongoing basis to ensure quality services and products.
    • To complete all compulsory training interventions allocated by direct manager successfully.
    • Perform any other duties as may be required by management.

    Electrician Maintenance ( Manufacturing) - Grain Field Chickens Abattoir , Reitz

    Job Description

    Responsible for performing skilled work in the installation, maintenance, repair, testing and commissioning of electrical and electronic equipment and systems, wiring, fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment. He may also work on electrical transmission and distribution equipment and perform other related work as required.

    Job requirements

    • Grade 12 or NQF 4 equivalent.
    • Wireman’s Licence.
    • A valid Trade Certificate as an Electrician or Millwright.
    • At least 3 years electrical experience in maintenance as a qualified Electrician.
    • Experience in high and low voltage connections.
    • PLC & VSD experience and ability to read electrical plans.
    • FMCG Experience will be an added advantage.
    • Programming of PLC and related electronics.
    • CB – Code B driver’s license.
    • Must be able and willing to work overtime including shifts when required.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Reduce breakdowns and downtimes periods in the plant to limit unnecessary costs.
    • Ensure preventative scheduled maintenance are done as scheduled according to company procedures and standards.
    • Work with management to ensure all machinery and infrastructure function electrically optimal on a continuous basis.
    • Ensure the workshop comply with occupational health and safety requirements.
    • Do fault finding and problem solving on electrical equipment.
    • Reduce breakdowns and downtime periods.
    • Solving of electrical problems from operational manager as specified in the job card.
    • Keep informed on newest electrical technology with regards to better functioning, energy saving and safety.

    Industrial Engineer - Grain Field Chickens Abattoir, Reitz

    Job Description

    Responsible for applying industrial engineering techniques in order to improve operating performance, reduce waste and delays as well as produce cost reductions and higher levels of efficiency. Must develop and optimise manufacturing methods to improve material handling and production processes as well as standard operating procedures and manage capital projects in accordance with regulatory and industry-related standards.

    Requirements

    • Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 Equivalent.
    • GBP or equivalent.
    • A degree or Diploma in Industrial Engineering or related field.
    • At least 3 years’ relevant Industrial Engineer experience in a production plant.
    • Proven work experience in handling projects and managing budgets.
    • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement/ 20 Keys.
    • Advanced knowledge of production machinery, processes and standards.
    • Must be computer literate with excel on advanced level.
    • Will be required to work overtime where necessary, including on weekends.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Design efficient production processes to eliminate waste and make the most of every resource involved in manufacturing.
    • Compile and manage allocated project within the data and project department.
    • Compile and distribute key stats to the management team.
    • Ensure each project is completed within the allocated budget and timeline.
    • Identifying possible projects in the processing environment.
    • Identifying production needs on a continues basis to ensure effectivity of production.
    • The effective management of projects within the approved project timeframe and budget at Grain Field Chickens abattoir.
    • Determine the feasibility of projects.
    • Operational impact study and presentation of new product range to Grain Field Chickens management team.
    • Ergonomically study of each department.
    • Compile project plan (Grantt chart) per project, during planning phase and after implementation.
    • Compile the 1–5 Year Capex Plan.
    • Head special projects in the plant.
    • Conduct conditional scoring of plant complete.
    • Coordinate all contractors assigned to capital projects.
    • Continuous liaison with internal departments, management, suppliers and committees with regards to production standards and quality aspects within the processing plant.
    • Coordinate all role players in the introduction of a new product.
    • Responsible for driving the Continuous Improvement Program (20 Keys), providing the necessary expert support and coordination in terms of:
    • Implementation of the program for all keys in conjunction with the key leaders.
    • Overall plan and goals in conjunction with the key leaders.
    • Following up on progress on action plans and goal achievement matrices and providing the necessary guidance.
    • Assisting key leaders with corrective actions on action plans where applicable.
    • To successfully complete all allocated training interventions by direct manager.
    • To mentor and coach all relevant staff to ensure standards, processes and practices.
    • To keep abreast all relevant legislation and amendments on relevant legislation, technology, products, processes and techniques by attending workshops, seminars, reading articles and receiving training as well as informing relevant personnel.

    Dispatch Supervisor - Vrede

    Job Description

    As a Dispatch Supervisor, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the efficient delivery of our feed products to our valued customers.  You will coordinate with our production, warehouse, and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate dispatches, while maintaining proper documentation and compliance with standard operating procedures and regulations.  Your organizational and leadership skills will be crucial in managing a team of drivers and ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

    Requirements

    • Minimum 3 years of experience in a dispatch or similar supervisory role within the agriculture or logistics industry
    • Proficiency in inventory management systems and understanding of dispatch procedures.
    • Knowledge of applicable health and safety regulations.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversee the daily operations of the dispatch department. For example:
    • Ensuring delivery documentation is scanned and sent with 24 hours for invoicing purposes.
    • Plan and schedule product deliveries based on customer orders and production schedules.
    • Assign and manage dispatch personnel to ensure timely and efficient delivery of animal feed. This includes:
    • Managing time & attendance, leave applications, performance reviews etc.
    • Ensuring correct and timeous communication is sent by the relevant personnel to clients regarding deliveries.
    • Coordinate with production to ensure accurate inventory levels for efficient dispatch.
    • Maintain accurate records of dispatched orders, including delivery times, quantities, and customer information.
    • Communicate and coordinate with growers, drivers and transporter to ensure they have all necessary information for efficient delivery. For example:
    • Availability of vehicles
    • Cancellation of deliveries
    • Decreasing/Increasing of orders
    • Delivery changes i.e., dates
    • Monitor driver routes and schedules to optimise efficiency and minimize delivery delays.
    • Revolve any issues or conflicts that arrive during the delivery process, such as late deliveries or customer complaints.
    • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements, including proper documentation including maintaining dispatch equipment, such as vehicles:
    • COF’s and license renewals.
    • Repairs and maintenance.
    • Road Worthiness
    • Managing service providers.
    • Manage the diesel bouser relating to, for example, opening stock, usages, ordering of diesel, ensuring diesel is delivered on time and at the best price etc.
    • Train and mentor dispatch personnel on proper procedures and protocols for successful dispatch operations.
    • Implement and report on performance metrics to track and improve dispatch efficiencies, such as (not limited to the below):
    • On-time/early/late delivery rates.
    • Diesel usage per vehicle.
    • Loads per truck per day.
    • Prepare and present regular reports to management on dispatch operations, performance metrics, and any areas of improvement or concern.
