    Internal Audit Internship - 12 Month Contract

    Job Description

    Purpose:

    • The purpose of the role is to gain experience in conducting governance, financial and operational process audits on the various business areas within the Group.

    What you get OUT:

    • The Intern will work closely with other more experienced auditors within the team, who will be there to provide the necessary guidance to facilitate audit deliverables and professional growth. There will also be direct interaction with Internal Audit and Operational Management, to offer the best opportunity for exposure to the profession and insurance industry.

    Potential areas of exposure include:

    • Conducting preliminary surveys to obtain an understanding of the area and processes under review, to establish the scope of the audit. This includes risk analysis, audit program design, documentation of process flows, etc.;
    • Performing of audit fieldwork in accordance with the audit program;
    • Populating working papers with good quality planning, fieldwork, and reporting material issues on a timely basis;
    • Liaising effectively with Audit Management and the team;
    • Liaising effectively with clients at departmental level to ensure efficient completion of individual reviews, exhibiting appropriate soft skills;
    • Carrying out debriefs with department managers to communicate the results of the internal audit reviews and ensuring that the scale and scope of the deliverables resulting from audit recommendations are adequately understood; and
    • The drafting of the audit report, highlighting the relevant control weaknesses, risks, and recommendations, including management’s comments on the findings.

    Qualifications

    • 3/4 year degree/diploma or equivalent in Internal Audit; or
    • Internal Audit Honors.

    Buildings Desktop Assessor

    Job Description

    Purpose:

    The company requires an individual that can fit the role of a buildings desktop assessor to form part of our unique team.

    Core to the role is contributing to

    • Validation of claims compared to the various insurance policies
    • Quantification and cost management in determining the scope of work compared to agreed rates on buildings related claims
    • The types of claims dealt with include any building related claims such as burst geysers & pipes with resultant damage, storm damage to properties, flooring, interior cosmetic repairs to properties, electrical work etc. The role requires an individual with strong technical knowledge of the buildings industry and the associated cost and workmanship variables.

    Responsibilities

    • Validation of claims according to the various insurance policies in place;
    • Liaising with clients and service providers
    • Finalise all reports and administration
    • Making decisions, handle all administration and telephonic queries arising around that
    • Quantification by either drafting a scope of work and finalizing the cost of the claim according to agreed rates or comparing quotations and reports received from service providers and clients compared to the scope of work and agreed rates
    • Handling and resolving complaints and queries from clients, internal stakeholders as well as external stakeholders such as builders, engineers etc.
    • Conduct all the above to the required performance and quality standards that are in place

    Skills and Competencies

    • Strong administrative capability
    • Good report writing skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
    • Technical buildings and construction experience
    • Computer literacy is essential with MS Excel and MS Word being core competencies

    Qualifications

    Essential 

    • Matric
    • A valid driver’s licence
    • Building industry and/or claims experience

    Advantageous

    • A tertiary qualification or significant progress towards obtaining any construction or built environment related qualification would be highly beneficial
