    Snr Spec: IT Systems Developer (Data Engineer)

    Purpose
    The purpose of this role is to run existing and develop new processes and objects using Microsoft SQL Server as the primary platform, in the development of web-based solutions. All interactions with the Microsoft SQL Server database are done via specific queries and procedures developed using this platform. The work also includes the assistance assist with the day-to-day support, maintenance and administration of existing MS SQL Server jobs related to the Salesforce Application. It also requires assistance to the various support teams in troubleshooting SQL object issues.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Relational data modelling in traditional relational database management systems. (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, AWS Athena, AWS Redshift)
    • Data pipelining knowledge - data extraction and transformation. 
    • Data transformation knowledge for reporting and analytics purposes. 
    • AWS and Big Data technologies such as S3, Lambda, LakeFormation, Kafka, Redshift, RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, ECS, Glue, SageMaker, EMR.
    • Comfortable working with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, CodeBuild, CodePipeline, CodeDeploy, GitLab pipelines.
    • Work with stakeholders to define requirements and create data models.
    • Monitor and evaluate data quality to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Develop and maintain documentation for data processes and procedures.

    Minimum Experience

    • 3 – 6 years of experience in analyzing and using data to solve problems
    • Ability to work in a team environment.
    • Proficient in data analysis .
    • A good understanding of the SDLC process, tools and techniques specifically as applied to software development methodology. Required to understand Agile methodology and ways of working.
    • Experience working with security sensitive data (beneficial)
    • Experience in the implementation of data visualization systems/technologies. 

    Additional Minimum Experience

    • Knowledge and experience on cloud services - AWS.
    • Experience in MS SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Python, R, Redshift and especially PySpark.
    • Good understanding of data integrity and security best practices.
    • Hands on experience in Exception Handling and Troubleshooting.
    • Troubleshooting slow running queries, Profiling Performance Issues (Beneficial).

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or Computer/Engineering/Mathematical Sciences and/ or at least 3-4 years relevant experience as a SQL developer as part of a team in a software development environment.

    Purpose

    • To deliver support services in order to improve the customer experience through the execution of predefined objectives as per agreed standard operating procedures (SOPs).

    Snr Specialist: Solution Architect Applications

    Purpose

    • To provide specialist advice & support in the development & implementation of solution architect applications addressing problems on systems integration, compatability and multi platforms.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Responsible for assisting in the establishment of an IT Architecture practice, and the adoption of an architecture and standards methodology.
    • Manages activities that take place during solution ideation, solution design, and solution implementation.
    • Reviews business context for solutions to company challenges as well as defining the vision and requirements for the solution, recommending potential options, (which may include RFIs, RFPs or prototype development), selecting the most optimal option, and the development of a roadmap for the selected solution.
    • Communicates the architecture to the stakeholders and collaborates and coordinates with existing domain architects in the formalization and adoption of IT standards and procedures.
    • Champions a structured approach to business application solutions.

    Additional Key Responsibilities

    • Directly assists in the development of a solutions architecture program including departmental roadmaps and project portfolios for IT systems architecture.
    • Assures solutions not only are a fit for the specific purpose but also closely align with the standards guidelines of technology solutions.
    • Influences changes to standards when necessary.
    • Assists domain architecture team on solutions management and timing of financial spend for application solutions.
    • Supports the architectural aspects of all application projects in peer IT portfolios.
    • Directs the identification and recommendation of appropriate solutions, upgrades, replacements, or decommissioning options incorporating business and technology productivity, usability, and total cost of ownership.
    • Develops and executes solutions which further reduce the percentage of time spent on reactive work.
    • Provides analysis of security protection technologies as necessary.

    Minimum Experience

    • Minimum of 7 – 10 years of experience related to IT Management or other information technology solutions architecture role.
    • Demonstrated ability to communicate the complexities of technical programs.
    • Proficiency with information technologies in a secure network environment.
    • Expertise with personal computers in a secure network environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and SharePoint) or similar software.
    • Experience in Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure, Salesforce) - Similar platforms.
    • Tracking the progress of projects.
    • Documenting procedures, architecture principles, and patterns.
    • Evaluating and implementing new technologies.
    • Collaborating with other teams to improve business processes.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas [NQF Level 07] in Information Technology and Computer Sciences.

    Certifications

    • TOGAF Certification is mandatory.
    • AWS, Azure, Salesforce (Experience).
