    Workshop Manager - M2

    Job Purpose:

    To manage a Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions Workshop through effective operations, contract growth, customer relations, resource availability, people management and performance-based maintenance systems.

    This service is rendered to Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions clients.

    Main responsibilities:

    • Effective operations:
    • Identify needs and opportunities
    • Visual inspections of all requests for rebuilds/modifications
    • Assist with scope planning & proposals
    • Weekly/Monthly Reviews
    • Generate and submit report to client(s)
    • Corrective action to address deviation(s)
    • Seek reductions & discounts
    • Communicate results
    • Plan utilisation of staff
    • Report all breakdowns & deviations

    Effective customer relations:

    • Proactively manage customer relations
    • Compile competitor analysis & needs analysis
    • Ensure relationship marketing & market services
    • Maintain regular interaction with client(s)
    • Clarify expectations & Long term planning
    • Report deviations and trends

    Effective subordinates:

    • Effective performance agreements, reviews & appraisals
    • Develop Succession plan(s)
    • Create learning opportunities
    • Provide coaching and mentoring
    • Implement training and development plan

    Cost Effectiveness:

    • Produce rolling forecast, budget & weekly targets
    • Prepare and present financial and budgetary reviews & reports
    • Identify & implement procedural changes
    • Manage and institute performance recommendations
    • Conduct continuous needs analysis (internal & external)

    Effective Safety, Health and Environment Effectiveness:

    • Training in SWI & JSA
    • Review Housekeeping
    • Weekly inspections
    • Regular feedback (reports)
    • Ensure conformance to statutory requirements
    • Comply and practice the EHS policies, vision and create a culture amongst subordinates
    • Comply with the EHS Key Performance Indicators

    Technical Competencies:

    Minimum Skills and Qualifications:

    • Technical qualification - Trade certificate or tertiary Diploma
    • Certificate in training & assessment
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience as Supervisor in a workshop
    • Product knowledge on flameproof equipment
    • Minimum 5 years equipment maintenance experience
    • Proven technical troubleshooting experience
    • Experience in reliability engineering
    • Demonstrated experience in root cause analysis
    • SSDP (Supervisory Safety Development Program) completed
    • Relevant engineering/technical qualification
    • Excellent communication skills

    Area Manager Rock Tools - M2

    Job Role:

    Plan, direct, and monitor the activities of a sales team within a specified geography to achieve established sales targets.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Manage a team of front-line sales staff, actively involved in the field with salespeople and customers.
    • May also have own sales territory or portfolio of customers for which they serve as the designated salesperson, in some cases assigned to manage specific distributor relationships.
    • Manage Rock Tools Cost Per Metre (CPM) contracts ensuring that monthly drill rate adjustments and provision calculations are adhered to.
    • Play the hybrid sales or relationship management/manager role.
    • Establish sales goals in own geography via effective management of the assigned sales team, and by maintaining an active presence with customers in the market.
    • Review and monitor sales performance periodically and refine sales strategy as required by management.
    • Take accountability for management of budgets and forecasts (including A&S costs).

    Profile Required

    • Diploma/Degree in Mining Engineering, Business Administration or Business Economics
    • At least 4 years middle management experience
    • At least 3 years mining operations experience
    • At least 2 years sales experience
    • Strong stock management skills
    • Solid budget forecast process knowledge and experience
    • Business English proficiency
    • Experience in trackless underground/surface mining environment
    • Entrepreneurial business experience
    • Will be required to travel extensively.
    • Valid driver’s licens
