    Application Specialist II - Brackenfell

    Purpose of the Job    

    • The Application Specialist’s primary responsibility is to have a specialised knowledge of the system(s) in order to troubleshoot issues, working closely with project teams; functional teams and vendors.  
    • The Application Specialist should be able to coordinate testing and perform quality assurance on the data and validate the outcome of the testing.    
    • Application Specialists II are expected to be an advanced technical user in several solution specific computer programs and data interfaces. 

    Job Objectives    
    Business Analysis

     

    • The Application Specialist II, works with the Business Analyst to analyse requests from end users in order to advise whether custom development is required or whether the core application satisfies the request. 

    Solution Support

     

    • Analyse defects, gather the necessary evidence and report findings  with the developers, functional teams, end users and or vendors. 

    Solution Design

     

    • Creates the Change Request document in conjunction with architects, functional analyst and developers.  The architects, functional analyst and delivery lead will review and approve the change request document before submitting to the vendor for their input.  

     Solution Build

    • Works with the architect, functional analsyt and developer to ensure that the build received from the vendor or Shoprite developer is according to the change that was agreed in the functional system design document. 

    IT Systems Testing

    • Works with the Test Lead, Test Analyst to ensure that the test plan covers all the aspects of regression testing and the new build. Informs other team’s where the change will influence integration with other systems to ensure that End to End testing is done and that it is included in the test plan.   
    • Together with Delivery Lead, Test Lead, Business/Functional Analyst and Developer, validates the play-back by Test Analyst on the test results.  

     Solutions Deployment

    • The Application Specialist II works with the Functional Analyst / Developer to provide input to the Charm request on Solution Manager once the Testing has been approved by all parties mentioned in the Testing section.  
    • Validate the success or failure of the deployment with all necessary stakeholders influenced by the deployment.  
    • Works with the Deployment Coordinator to ensure that the Change Request Management standards are adhered to. 

    Incident Management

    • Investigate and resolve escalated incidents from Third Line Support.    
    • Disaster Recovery Management
    • Participate in the Disaster Recovery Trials every 6 months

    Qualifications    

    • Matric  
    • 3-year IT qualification  
    • MS SQL fundamentals (Introduction to SQL) Certification

    Bulk Stock Cost Accountant - Cape Town

    Purpose of the Job    

    • The Bulk Stock Accountant is primarily responsible for applying principles of cost accounting to the entire bulk stock process across nine RSA divisions in the Meat Imports business unit. Key responsibilities include financial administration and reporting; identifying, analysing and reconciling any discrepancies and/or queries; liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the availability of stock; as well as overseeing the Order, Receiving and Accounts Clerks.

    Job Objectives    

    • Report on bulk stock for all cold stores weekly, with a specific focus on shrinkage and order reconciliation.
    • Ensure that purchases and transfers documentation are completed accurately to avoid costing errors.
    • Monitor and inform Divisional Managers of any obsolete stock.
    • Monitor pricing changes in the Meat Market industry weekly.
    • Conduct weekly cost, breakeven and variance analyses as it relates to bulk stock.
    • Identify, analyse and reconcile any bulk store discrepancies and/or queries.
    • Advise Divisional Managers on products and pricing.
    • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in the entire bulk stock process.

    Bulk Stock Logistics;

    • Identify and contract with transportation service providers monthly.
    • Negotiate rates with transportation service providers to minimise costs.
    • Build and maintain relationships with transportation service providers.

    Financial Administration and Reporting;

    • Apply principles of cost accounting to bulk stock purchases and sales
    • Reconcile general ledger accounts and aged trial balance.
    • Assist with internal and external audits relating to bulk tock.
    • Monitor and reconcile creditors transactions.
    • Monitor and reconcile debtors transactions.
    • Liaise with relevant stakeholders to resolve transactional queries.
    • Compile monthly bulk stock reports for management, and identify significant trends.
    • Monitor the Gross Profit Margin of all divisions, and highlight any concerns.
    • Document and maintain all current bulk stock procedures.
    • Prepare annual bulk stock budgets, and forecast based on previous performance and inflation.
    • Perform weekly stock valuations, and resolve any price and/or stock discrepancies.

    • Oversee Order, Receiving and Accounts Clerks' responsibilities.

    Imports and Exports;

    • Source local stock to avoid unavailability in stores.
    • Liaise with the Department of Trade and Industry regarding import permits and loading.
    • Determine expert stock selling prices by assessing market research and incurred costs.
    • Ensure all relevant documentation is completed and received from the export cold store.
    • Ensure the export stock is prepared at the time of the loading.
    • Negotiate prices with local suppliers.

    • The main purpose of the position is to coordinate the exports between the various supply line segments. This includes on advising how to save costs in the different segments and to provide relevant international trade information to buyers, operations and compliance.

    Business Support Coordinator - Brackenfell

    Purpose of the Job    

    • The purpose of the Meat Market Business Support Coordinator role is to ensure that all analytical data is checked, verified, recorded and updated for the Meat Market Non RSA Operations on the Meat Market systems to ensure accurate alignment to the Meat Market business.
    • The role also facilitates the preparation of all reports relevant, per country which are reviewed to ensure alignment within the Meat Market business’s needs.

    • To monitor the logging of all maintenance in butcheries which include fridge breakdowns and stock takes that are for Management reporting

    Qualifications    

    • Grade 12 with relevant and demonstrable experience – (essential).

    Experience    

    • +3 years' experience in administrative support role or similar, with knowledge of administrative support in data analytics and reporting.
