Flow Planning Analyst at Massmart

Summary: 

• Development, implementation and daily monitoring of supply chain flow planning. Supply Chain flow planning will be responsible for the shape of flow through the network by balancing service, network capacity and cost variables ensuring the smooth flow of goods.

Functions / Responsibilities:

Flow Planning Support

• Responsible for calculating the short & medium term network forecast
• Create, validate and work collaboratively with leadership roles throughout logistics, transportation, replenishment, merchants and store operations in order to gain consensus on a forecast for all products flowing into and out of each Distribution Centre.
• Use detailed knowledge of network cost, service capability, productivity, and capacity to develop medium term capacity utilization options and guide team members through capacity/cost deployment decisions.
• Generate short and medium term network capacity plans
• Use established parameters & prioritization rules to recommend suitable action - i.e. pull forward & push out in order to pace operations to actual demand
• Inform/influence the provisioning & scheduling of capacity for inbound & outbound

Drive & implement RTM & Channel Strategy

Supply Planning Support

• Engage & influence wholesale & retail business units on demand prioritization.
• Work collaboratively with Supply Chain Planning functional team, leveraging network forecasts to develop and maintain the flow of goods to store while balancing needs across the divisions.
• Use detailed knowledge of DC Operations, systems, and infrastructure to interface with leadership teams of DC and Central Operations to identify cost and risk within business decisions while making recommendations to remove that cost for the purpose of driving change.
• Ensure measurement mechanisms are in place to monitor planned mitigation activities ensuring optimized flow of goods while balancing service and cost considerations.
• Analyse & suggest replenishment configuration options: EOQ, rounding profiles, order lot/ cycles, etc.
• Manage the development of optimization logic and tools to determine load build strategies for outbound transportation, balancing cost and inventory service level requirements.

Analytics & Insights

• Create scenario models to understand costs & sensitivity to multiple variables.
• Assist with the build & maintenance of the logistics reporting database including Executive Scorecard, International Reports, and S&OP documents.
• Design models and financial frameworks to measure events impacting demand & supply; providing notification services to trigger upstream or downstream activities within MLS and the Massmart Chains.
• Analyse & suggest replenishment configuration options: EOQ, rounding profiles, order lot/ cycles, etc.

Requirements:

Minimum Academic, Professional Qualifications & Experience required for this position.

Experienced Professional

• Graduate with relevant degrees in Data Analytics / Statistical Modeling or practical experience in relevant role
• 6-8 Years’ Experience – Supply Chain/Logistics Analytics
