Overview    

• Delivery of explosives to the blasting face and the checks of all old explosive’s boxes on a daily basis and to assist the blaster with the preparation of blast blocks.

Qualifications    

• Grade 12 (Mathematics)
• Certified as Magazine Master with CIE

Advantageous Requirements:

• Ms Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Email)
• Blasting Assistant Certificate (MQA)
• Competent A Certificate – MQA (Desirable)

Experience    

• 2 years blasting assistant experience
• Supervisory experience
• Transportation and storage of blasting accessories / explosives
• Drivers Licence for applicable explosives vehicle
• Valid Police Clearance certificate

Duties    

• Receives finished blasting accessories / explosives from the plant as well as other orders placed by the Explosives Coordinator
• Ensures that explosives are off-loaded and packed in the magazine in an orderly, secure and safe manner
• Checks received blasting accessories / explosives against the delivery note and signs it
• Books the newly arrived load into the Register Book
• Verifies the physical delivery with the driver
• Informs the Explosives Coordinator for further action when discrepancies are detected
• Receives Schedule of Orders from the Scheduling Coordinator
• Checks that the Continuous Transport Permit (CTP) corresponds to the order
• Completes the pre-issue checklist to make sure that the vehicle and driver comply with all prescriptions, prior to loading of the order
• Requests the driver to rectify the matter or otherwise contacts the Explosives Coordinator for higher level action in the event of non-compliance
• Signs and files the checklist in the event of compliance
• Ensures that the order is moved from the magazine, loaded and stacked on to the accessories transport vehicle in and orderly and safe manner
• Makes out a Delivery Note / Requisition for the order and hands over a copy to the driver and a copy to the Administrator

• Takes responsibility for the security of the company’s assets stored in the magazine
• Performs a daily physical stock take
• Compares and reconciles the physical stock amounts to the Register Book
• Identifies, corrects and reports any discrepancies on a daily basis
• Reports weekly stock count figures to Administrator
• Follows FIFO principles in organising dispatches
• Monitors age of stock and informs the Explosives Coordinator for taking further action
• Ensures that all the requirements of SHERQ, legal and mine procedures are met

Overview    

• Operate various machines and manual product packaging and stacking

Qualifications    

• Grade 12 or equivalent

Experience    

• 1 year demonstrated hands on experience in a production environment
• 1 year demonstrated assembly plant experience

Advantageous Requirements:

• 1 year demonstrated experience in explosives production

Duties    

• Good housekeeping principles
• Ensure adherence to quality product specification and test procedures
• Be able to report and record on raw material used
• Be able to read / detect defects using displayed diagrams
• Production output and productivity – meeting daily production targets whilst meeting minimum safety and quality standards
• Ensure that all product produced and packaged conforms to product assembly specification

Duties    
Enabled and compliant plant delivery

• Ensure that the resources allocated (people, process and material) are fully utilized as expected to meet their daily/weekly targets.
• Optimize the plant performance by recruiting qualified, well trained and experienced resources.
• Plan, organize and enable the production/plant team to ensure that all required skills and tools/other resources are available as and when required.
• To ensure that the training plans/matrix are implemented and managed for all direct reports in line with the plant’s day to day deliverables.

Plant Safety and Security

• Ensuring minimum safety process and quality critical staffing positions are occupied on each shift as per the prerequisite for production to commence. 
• To ensure compliance to all legal safety procedures and processes as prescribed to minimize risks.

Optimal task/plant process performance

• To ensure proactive management of the resources provided to maximise operational efficiencies of the production processes.  
• Raw material, consumables, energy and water, human resource and time utilization.
